Fun Fact: The girl who did the voice for Wendy, also did the voice for Alice in "Alice in Wonderland" (1951). Also, the guy who did the voice for Mr. Smee also did the voice for the white rabbit.
Fun fact, Tinkerbell has her own spin off series of movies! You don't have to watch those, but she was always my favorite in Peter Pan and I loved how they expanded on her and her world in those movies!
Agreed. And Tink’s voice actor for that film series is known for portraying costars or love interests to the main characters. This is one of her first leading roles.
I really enjoy the Tinkerbell movies. I still rewatch them! I am sad that we never got more movies focusing on the other characters like with Fawn and the Neverbeast movie.
Peter Pan is based on a series of books. The character of Captain Hook was based on a real person, though. In a small England town, a minister with a missing hand claimed to have lost it in an accident, but it was eventually discovered that he lost it in a sword battle as he had a long career as a pirate.
Personally I believe this was Disney's greatest works. It was a great challenge for the animators to animate them levitating like that and they pulled it off beautifully. I remember watching this with my paternal grandmother, who was Native American, and she actually sang the songs the natives sang in Kiowa. She was smart to remind me that this movie was made at a time where they didn't quite understand how much of an impact negative stereotypes against Native Americans were. But she wanted me to admire the beauty of the movie because she was a huge Disney fan. And this was one of my most favorite movies growing up. I guarantee you will love Hook but have some tissues ready because Robin Williams portrayal as Peter always makes viewers cry.
@@MrParkerman6 Nah, I’m more of a Peter Pan person. Alice in Wonderland gave me nightmares and is an incredibly dark movie when it comes to the meaning (probably Disney’s darkest movie made)
The duo of Hook and Smee make this film for me. I loved the 2003 version also! Defo watch that if you like the story! Really takes it to another level. I hope you’ll watch Hook! It was a childhood favourite of mine and Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman churn in great performances! A really cool take on Peter Pans story!
Fun cast fact: Hans Conried who voices Mr Darling also voices Captain Hook. Bill Thompson who voices Mr Smee ( My favorite character from this movie) also voices The white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland. Kathryn Beaumont who voices Wendy also voices Alice from Alice in wonderland
And Heather Angel played both Alice's sisters and Wendy's mother, and Bobby Driscoll who plays Peter played Jim Hawkins in Treasure Island, and star in many more live action Disney films.
I love the slapstick comedy in this movie especially with Hook and Smee. "I'll go tell the crewman!" *Hook trips him with his leg then casually plays the piano again.* LOL!!! XD
I can't wait for you to watch Hook!! The girl in the second movie is Wendy's daughter! That's why they're so similar. And yes this movie is one of my favorites, though the portrayal of Native Americans as savages didn't age very well. They leave them out of the second movie, probably to dodge the minefield.
I just wanna point out something according to the creators of the film Tinker Belle isn’t actually in love with Pan it’s just a common misconception she was jealous yes but it was because she thought Wendy would take her place as Pan’s best friend
In Hook (Which is a Disney movie), Tinker Bell grows human-sized and attempts to profess her love to Peter with a kiss…. It’s definitely intended to be love.
Fun Facts: The story of Peter Pan originally began as a play, and before that a novel. Walt Disney himself loved the play, he toured production of it once and even played the role of Peter Pan in one play of it, claiming that he was the most passionate actor to portray the character. The song "The Second Star to the Right" that plays when our characters are departing London was originally written for the movie "Alice in Wonderland."
Hey Nick! Loved the reaction. As for the ORIGINAL Peter Pan story, it's a whole lot darker. It wasn't magic that the lost boys didn't age. In the book when they started to age, Peter Pan would actually k*ll them
There's that story and then there's another one where the lost boys were already dead so they _couldn't_ age. Both of them are really disturbing when you think about it
He always seemed a bit too kind to me. I kept expecting him to switch sides, but I'm glad he didn't, since that would be too predictable. I had the same reaction to Kronk from The Emperor's New Groove, another villain's sidekick who's actually a nice person.
TRIVIA: Peter Pan was always portrayed by a female actress whenever it was on stage or in a screen adaptation. The Disney film was the first to have Peter portrayed by a male actor.
I know you would enjoy it! If you feeling romance and adventure, Peter Pan 2003 is THE WAY TO GO. ITS SO CUTE. It's romance between Peter and Wendy btw
I just recently realized there's no real tear-jerker scene in this film. That's kinda rare for Disney, even back then. I think either they should've made the scene with Tink nearly dying a bit longer or they could have Peter and Wendy say goodbye with heavy implications they they'd never meet again.
Fun Fact: In 1960, 7 years after this film came out, NBC aired a televised musical of "Peter Pan", starring Mary Martin as Peter. Strangely enough, a 1924 film adaptation of "Peter Pan" had a woman play the role of Peter, Betty Bronson. The Disney animated film was the first time Peter was played by a boy, Bobby Driscoll.
I honestly thought for the longest time that you were having too many copyright troubles with Hook and I just put it aside, and having tried reacting to some stuff in the past I was beginning to make my peace with that. 😆 But I’m so glad you’re watching this first!! It’s essential to understanding and enjoying Hook and I can’t wait for that one!! It’s definitely a movie I’ve watched over and over since childhood. 💖
I think why Hook comes of as a cartoony villan, even in universe, is that the Sword fights with Peter where a game, then Peter took it to far when he fed his hand to the crocodile, so now, while he has a legitimate grudge, he's still playing a part in a way.
Fun fact: In every Peter Pan play or movie, up until this movie, Peter Pan was ALWAYS portrayed by a female. It was a tradition. Disney BROKE that tradition when they made this movie, by finally letting Peter Pan himself be portrayed by a boy. Avatar: The Last Airbender followed up the female Peter Pan tradition in the “Ember Island Players” episode.
I heard the reason Peter Pan was always played by a woman in plays was because they were lighter than men and easier to lift on the wires to fly around.
Something you will find as a theme popping up in every Peter Pan adaptation I have seen is that Captain Hook and the father are always voiced/played by the same actor. This one is no exception! I find that a very interesting commentary on both of the characters and what it might say about the kids’ perception of things and I’m so glad it has been something that every adaptation has adopted. ❤️
I also don't care how bad the portrayal of the natives may be, as a kid growing up there really weren't "that many" protagonists "of color" out there, and Tiger Lily always projected to me a sense of dignity and strength that was admirable and worthy of emulating. I can understand why so many people have issues with the depiction overall, but Tiger Lily herself really deserves more love (she's also the only character who isn't deliberately or outwardly mean to Wendy - we see her kissing Peter but its made pretty clear she's not aware of Wendy's feelings for him and that she's not doing it out of spite but out of gratitude).
The correlation between the two Disney Peter Pan films is that the sequel centers around Wendy's daughter, Jane, going to Neverland. Feel free to re-react to that one if you want. "Return to Neverland" is definitely one of the better Disney sequels to occur (and one the few that actually released in theaters).
Seeing you watching those classics is like reliving childhood… Anyway, on to fun facts! The voice actress for Wendy is also voice actress for Alice from Alice in Wonderland. She served as model for animating both characters. In the original ‘Peter Pan’ play, Peter was originally portrayed by a woman. In here, his voice actor also served as model for animation. In the original play, Captain Hook and Mr. Darling were portrayed by same actor. This is also the case in this movie. Anyway, since you’re starting Peter Pan now, I’m glad you liked the second movie (personal favorite sequel) and I don’t know whether you’ll watch Hook, but please, consider watching 2003 live action too. It takes inspiration from the book in some ways. Take care, and hope you have a good day!!! 😁
Yes, Peter Pan is yet another timeless Disney classic it's one of my all time favorites! in fact one of the many things i love most about Disney's Peter Pan is that since it was made in the 50's the animation was completely done by hand old fashion pencil drawings!..there aren't too many made like that anymore.
In early drafts, Nana travels with Peter and the Darlings to Neverland. But the storyboards were also much darker than the final film. The movie also took almost 20 years to put together, mainly due to 6 years stalling development during WWII.
The parts with Hook and the crocodile, even as an adult make me laugh until I cry. Smee and Hook are so hilarious too. The expression on Hook's face after he gets hit on the head with the hammer, sitting in the chair with his feet in the tub getting scalded also kills me. I hope you do Hook with Robin Williams. Such a great movie.
I still don’t have my ipad with all of the facts on it so here is what I am going by memory. So the voice of George Darling and Captain Hook is the same actor which is playing in tradition of the play where both were played by the same actor. Before the Disney film Peter Pan was always played by a woman including the most famous one being Mary Martin, In the original story Tinker Bell drinks poison meant for Peter and the people in the audience are supposed to clap their hands to keep her alive and Walt had wanted to implement that idea in the film, but wasn’t sure how to do it so it was scrapped. The voice of Wendy is the same actress of Alice in Alice in Wonderland and the voice of the mother here voiced her sister in Alice in Wonderland. In original story drafts for the film it was much darker and nana also went with the children to Neverland. One deleted song from the film that still ended up made is “Never Smile At A Crocodile” which would have played whenever Tick Tock Croc showed up: th-cam.com/video/ZGkdcpTY1QI/w-d-xo.html
Another wonderful reaction Nick! Peter Pan was such a comfort movie for me as a kid. I would wait every night by my open window for him to come. If you enjoy these movies I'd love to see you react to Peter Pan 2003. As a huge Peter fan, it's my favorite Peter Pan movie and one of my favorite movies of all time. Also has a BEAUTIFUL score, it makes me cry.
Fun fact: The melody of the song "The second star to the right" was used in the Mexican sticom El Chavo del 8 for episodes such as "A thief in the neighborhood" and the one where everyone goes to Acapulco for vacation
Disney Fun Facts! Frank Thomas, the lead animator for captain hook, played piano for in the Disney band, the firehouse five plus two, so the notes captain hook is playing are accurate. Hans Connery, the voice of captain hook, was a famous radio drama actor.
Captain Hook is actually my third favorite Disney villain--behind Hades and Yzma--and I even have a beautiful mug of him that I, almost, always use for hot chocolate. He's also one of the few Disney villains that I actually feel sorry for, and am kind of rooting for. Not saying he should kill Peter Pan, but I'm still Team Hook 100%. 😂
I actually watched this for the first time just last night (one of the few old Disney films that I didn't watch as a kid). holy crap Tink was a savage trying to get Wendy _killed_ over her jealousy and even looking smug about it. Like damn, Wendy is so forgiving when she's the one who didn't want Tink to be banished forever. From what I've read, it's not that Tink has romantic feelings for Peter, it's simply that she's afraid that Peter won't hang out with her anymore if another girl was in the picture.
Okay now you absolutely have to watch the 2003 live action Peter Pan. If you want a good Peter and Wendy story, great fantasy storytelling and a fantastic music score, you're in for a treat. It really is only the best live action Peter Pan film alongside Hook.
The story of Peter pan has and forever will be my favourite. I tolerate the Disney adaptation. I adored it so much that for my 5th birthday party, my amazing nan baked a crocodile cake and put a clock inside the cake so the crocodile ticked. It was awesome. Edit; the reason Wendy and Jane look s similar is because Jane is Wendy's daughter. I get the feeling you might not have read the book. I recommend it.
Whether she be Alice or Wendy, Kathryn Beaumont knows a thing or two regarding Disney heroines! What both characters have in common is they have this sense of curiosity, but at the same time have morals they each follow.
I love the relationship between Smee and captain James Hook. It's so funny! And also the part of the Indian Chief dancing while being so seriouw always cracks me up! I'm excited to know that you'll do "Hook" soon. It's kind of underrated but personally it's my favourite movie, with a Cast of la crême de la crême!
You are so adorable watching movies! I watched your back to the future and that was great. I love how you show a lot of the movie and the sound and pictures are clear (mostly). I don’t even see the text over it after a minute. Subbed!!!!!! I love the Peter Pan ride at Disneyland!!!!!!!
I know how much you love the scores in movies, so you will definitely love the score in the 2003 live-action! It's so beautiful, it's one that has really stuck with me throughout the years 😍 I remember first watching it when I was around 6 years old, I am now 24 and still adore it just as much!
At some point you have to watch “Hook”. It’s essentially a live-action sequel starring Robin Williams as a grown up Peter Pan who has essentially grown up and forgotten what it means to be a kid. It goes a lot deeper into the original lore of the books, but it simultaneously a lot more faithful to the Disney movie than most adaptations. It’s interesting.
Agreed! In my opinion I like it better than the first since the plot is deeper in some ways (I won't spoil how) and I also relate to the main character of that movie a lot more than Wendy.
@@cakebeforeheartbreak I think lots of modern kids would, since letting kids be kids is less emphasised nowadays and kids are expected to grow up fast.
@@strawberrysoulforever8336 yep. I feel so sad for those people. I had to grow up fast myself and it's not a fun experience because once you're an adult you can't get that back.
Mr. Smee is voiced by Disney regular Bill Thompson. He was the White Rabbit in Alice In Wonderland (and also voiced the Dodo in that film), the Irish cop and Jock in Lady And The Tramp, Ranger Woodlore in the Humphrey The Bear cartoons, and even the original voice of Scrooge McDuck before Alan Young took over the role.
Another one of my favorite childhood movies. I watched this, Pinocchio, the Jungle Book, and Cinderella religiously!! They were all my favorite films! Even back then, I shipped Wendy and Peter haha. Like with the jungle book, I had wished Wendy didn’t leave so she could be with Peter, but I understand why she left. She was ready to grow up and pass on the stories her mother and Peter told her to her own children. “Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional”
The dog in this movie is called Nana, and the one in the sequel is called Nana 2. Either they got another St Bernard after Nana died or she had puppies and they kept one. I’m thinking it might be the first one which is quite sad to think about 🥺 I’m thinking it was some time after Nana died, and they got another St Bernard when Jane was a baby, so they got Nana 2 to be a nurse maid just like Nana was
Fun fact about Crocodiles and Alligators etc.: Their jaws are really strong when closing but weak when opening. It's why when you duct tape their mouths shut they can't get free from it. Or in Hooks case easy to pry open to avoid being eaten. (Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but please do so in a *CIVIL* manner)
For answer to your questions, Wendy is 12 years old and in this times, having her own room means started to learn how to be a lady like her mother (so it explains why they're shocked). About the second movie, Wendy appears on it but as an adult and a mother of two children. It's her daughter Jane who goes to Neverland in this one. Also, the dog isn't the same but Nana's puppy because her name is Nana junior. I advice to, first to rewatch the second movie, but also watching the " Peter Pan " movie of 2003 (the relationship between Peter and Wendy is more clear) and " Neverland " who counts the story of James Matthew Barrie, the author of the original " Peter Pan " with Johnny Depp in the principal rôle.
Honestly, Captain Hook is a character that you would feel pity and sympathy for, since his hand was cut off as a joke, but this movie does a good job showing you that you shouldn't do that. XD
I don't know why, but my favorite villains are pre-Disney renaissance villains, like for exam. Captain Hook, Shere-Khan, Cruella, Maleficent, Chernobog and others.
Love this film. Thanks for checking it out. Fun Fact: the first song second star to the right used the melody from a deleted song from Alice in wonderland called beyond the laughing sky
Two things I'd like to say about this movie: One; there is this very subtle joke Smee says during the scene where he's about to give Captain Hook a clean shave, that until a couple of years ago, I hadn't picked up on. Smee has just shooed away Tick Tock Croc(that's the croc's name btw) and he says, "they'll be no hand outs today." It's such dry humor but, I love it. 😂 And two; speaking of the croc, there is a deleted song from this movie that I highly recommend having a listen to sometime. Well technically, the tune was used in the film but, the version with the lyrics was not. Anyway It's called, "Never Smile at a Crocodile." I should specify because I guess there is a "restored version." Look up the OST version, not that one. That being said, I get a bit of a chuckle out of it every time I listen to it.
Not sure if anyone's told you yet but Wendy's voiced by the same girl who voiced Alice from Alice in Wonderland, and Kairi's grandmother in Kingdom Hearts.
No it wasn’t, it had already been done masterfully in Mary Poppins nearly ten years earlier, and pretty much since animation as we know it had been invented, like in The Alice Comedies of the 1920s
02:32 For years I heard that narration as "Peter Pan was the spirit of view." 15:03 One of the best bits in this film is how, when Tick-Tock turns up, Hook turns from a ruthless pirate into a gibbering idiot. 27:00 I could've sworn that every time Hook's under duress he had this habit of shouting "Fish!" 29:25 What made buffalo buff?
The main girl in the sequel Peter Pan: Return to Neverland is Wendy’s daughter, Jane. Also if you want to see another amazing adaptation of Peter Pan, watch Hook starring Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman.
Looking forward to your reaction to the sequel! My nostalgia has me biased, but it's one of my favorite Disney movies. We owned it so I have no idea how many times I've watched it. My mom could probably vouch that it was a lot.
I’m glad you enjoyed this film. I understand you have been told many of the origins of the story Peter Pan. I don’t know if you knew this, when every time someone performed the production of Peter Pan a portion of money that is paid to for the license goes straight to the Children’s Great Ormond Hospital. I used to watch this movie a lot growing up. And I’ve watched about every film adaptions of this wonderful story. I’ve been in 2 stage adaptions of this story. My favorite character has always been Smee. If you can there is a film recording of the original musical production that the author J.M. Barrie wrote that stars Mary Martin. There’s also full version starring Cathy Rigby. Also the dog Nana is actually based on the authors own Saint Bernard. One of the shows I did which was written by our director, we actually had a person play both the dog Nana and Mr. Barrie’s own dog. Because we had him narrating as if he was writing the story before our own eyes. 💚💛🏴☠️⚔️🧚🏻
The story of Peter Pan and this movie have always been one of my favorite things (the romanticized side of it, not the side of it where Peter is a cruel unfeeling child because if you’ve read the book you know how horrible that kid really is lol) but as a little girl I always loved the idea of Peter Pan coming to my window and letting me fly away with him, away from my problems and stuff yknow ☺️
In the live action remake of Hook, Jude Law will play, well, as I remember, Sacha Baron Cohen would be more suitable, as well as the role of Jafar in the remake of Aladdin.
The actress playing Wendy is Kathryn Beaumont, who was also the lead in Alice In Wonderland, two years prior to this role. If you listen carefully to Wendy's voice, she actually does sound like a slightly older Alice. Another note - did you notice Tiger Lily had a more realistic skin tone than her tribe? The movie's portrayal of Native Americans (although to be fair, they aren't totally real because they come from Neverland) came under huge controversy. It doesn't help by saying their skin is red because the first one blushed and it made their genetics change to blush all the time. I just see it as a period piece and as a kid, never really took the Indians seriously as a portrayal of any native tribes, but almost 70 years later, you know that this would not fly today. Also, to be fair, Tinker Bell didn't sell out her best friend completely. She first insisted Captain Hook not harm Peter, but he used the Exact Words and didn't touch him. In the book, it was a poisoned cake she ate to stop him from eating it himself, but the movie changed it to a bomb.
If you're reacting to Disney movies, I can't recommend enough that you watch the Disney movie Dinosaur from the year 2000. It's on Disney+. In my opinion; Dinosaur (2000)'s a criminally underrated masterpiece, and one of the two greatest Disney movies of all time alongside The Lion King (1994). But that's just my opinion. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion and no one has to agree with me at all. Please don't get angry at me and please respect my opinion. Thank you very much. 😊
I can't remember if Nick watched HOOK or not! That's one of my favorite Peter Pan movies as well. It shows, Spoilers, what would happen if Peter Pan...grew up.
The melody for The Second Star On The Right was from a cut song from Alice in Wonderland. It's not the only time they recyced cut song stuff. Mary Poppins had a cut song called "In the Land of Sand", the melody from it was used for Trust In Me for The Jungle Book.
I always watched Peter Pan growing up. Learning about how this film was made by Walt Disney and his team made me appreciate and enjoy it. Peter Pan is a fun-filled adventure with a lot of laughs and swashbuckling action. Captain Hook is actually my favorite character because he’s funny and is a cool Disney villain. His moments with Tick Tock, the crocodile are the greatest in my opinion, makes me laugh every time. Thanks for another Disney film reaction Nick, always appreciate it!😁
Nick when I watch all your first time reactions I can't help thinking to myself "has he ever watched any movies before he started his reaction channel ?" 😂
Hans Conreid as Captain Hook is easily one of the funniest Disney villain portrayals ever and Smee is absolutely adorable as his Toadie. :P The crocodile, though, is for the win. :P
Peter Pan 2 is about Wendy's daughter, Jane. Peter mistakes her for Wendy; forgetting Wendy decided to grow up. Peter and Wendy reunite at the ending and Peter is surprised at how different Wendy looked as an adult.. it was a sweet ending. Also, I highly recommend a movie called "Finding Neverland", its a biopic about the creator of the story of Peter Pan and Neverland, and the little boy who inspired the story. Its one of my favorite movies, tugs at the heart though. (Plus has Johnny Depp, so thats always a plus)
FYI: The theme song in the opening credits "Second Star to the Right", was originally going to be in Alice in Wonderland as "Beyond the Laughing Sky" sung by Alice.
This classic Disney movie has always been a favorite of mine- when I was 6 years old I had a Tinkerbell themed birthday party where the girls dressed as fairies and the boys as the lost boys. I think the most memorable part though was when my father dressed up as Captain Hook and chased us around 😂💚🧚♀️🏴☠️
Really sweet thing about the author of the original book was that he gifted the rights and royalties of Peter Pan to London's Great Ormand Street Children's Hospital. That's who Disney was thanking in the credits so I expect they got a fair amount from this movie.
I haven't seen Disney's Peter Pan in years, but remembered it well. I don't remember the second one as well because I haven't seen it as many times, but there are things I remember from it. I would love to see you react to it all these years later and refresh my memory in the process. I love seeing you react to the Disney movies I grew up on and love.
One of my favourite movies as a kid! I always wished I could be whisked away to a fantasy world like Wendy, John, and Michael! Captain Hook is one of the best Disney villains, and his dynamics with Peter and Smee are just hilarious! Return to Neverland is real good too! One of the better Disney sequels.
Peter Pan is one of my favorite childhood movies. idk what it is but I've collected merch around it and everything. I just love the designs and the time period and all. Looking back, it's difficult to see all the very much...of the time period perspective...but I still really enjoy the other parts of this movie. ^^

@Domonic Santalucia
Completely wrong! The film makers never said that. It is a fact she is in love with Peter pan. It isn't just this version either.
In Hook (Which is a Disney movie), Tinker Bell grows human-sized and attempts to profess her love to Peter with a kiss…. It’s definitely intended to be love.
@@MrParkerman6 they did say that
Fun Facts: The story of Peter Pan originally began as a play, and before that a novel.
I know that
But it would make more sense to use the song in Peter Pan.
Hey Nick! Loved the reaction. As for the ORIGINAL Peter Pan story, it's a whole lot darker. It wasn't magic that the lost boys didn't age. In the book when they started to age, Peter Pan would actually k*ll them
Also its implied some of the pirates are lost boys who've escaped.
There's that story and then there's another one where the lost boys were already dead so they _couldn't_ age. Both of them are really disturbing when you think about it
...also The Lost Boys weren't actually lost. Pan kidnapped them from The Park.
Damn.😳
I honestly prefer the 'Peter and the Starcatchers' books over the original.
Mr. Smee isn’t really all that evil to me . To me, he seems more like a kind, mist-understood, elderly man.
A youtuber of my country says he's more an extension of tbe captain
*misunderstood* not mist-understood lol.
He always seemed a bit too kind to me. I kept expecting him to switch sides, but I'm glad he didn't, since that would be too predictable. I had the same reaction to Kronk from The Emperor's New Groove, another villain's sidekick who's actually a nice person.
I was thinking the same. He and Kronk are very misunderstood
Same he deserves better instead of being abuse by other pirates
TRIVIA: Peter Pan was always portrayed by a female actress whenever it was on stage or in a screen adaptation. The Disney film was the first to have Peter portrayed by a male actor.
I know you would enjoy it! If you feeling romance and adventure, Peter Pan 2003 is THE WAY TO GO. ITS SO CUTE. It's romance between Peter and Wendy btw
I like this point. For me, there a little thing between Peter and Webdy but it's not show in the animated movie (even if it's obvious he cares to her)
I just recently realized there's no real tear-jerker scene in this film.
RIP Bobby
I watched the Mary Martin play so many times! (My mom taped it on VHS.) I know it better than the Disney version!
Seems lots of people thought it was copyright haha, but yeah just wanted to watch the first Peter Pan first!
This isn't the first Peter Pan.
I think why Hook comes of as a cartoony villan, even in universe, is that the Sword fights with Peter where a game, then Peter took it to far when he fed his hand to the crocodile, so now, while he has a legitimate grudge, he's still playing a part in a way.
Wrong!
Interesting fact: there were concept art showing that Nana actually traveled with Peter and the others to Neverland in a early version of the movie
I've always cracked up at Captain Hook's "SMEEEEEEEE" lol. Then of course the "tick tock" crocodile :P
In France, Smee is called " Monsieur Mouche " or just " Mouche " (bee in english)
You do realize this is a Cartoon right? Therefore he is not portrayed by a boy here. He is portrayed by a male voice actor and Paint on a Cell!
I heard the reason Peter Pan was always played by a woman in plays was because they were lighter than men and easier to lift on the wires to fly around.
@@labyfan1313 Why didn't they just use a 12-14 year old boy?
@@G2010J maybe because of all the stunts
Well that’s kind of an odd name for a girl isn’t it?
Something you will find as a theme popping up in every Peter Pan adaptation I have seen is that Captain Hook and the father are always voiced/played by the same actor. This one is no exception! I find that a very interesting commentary on both of the characters and what it might say about the kids’ perception of things and I’m so glad it has been something that every adaptation has adopted. ❤️
that’s always one of my favorite parts of Peter Pan lore, too!!
That's cuz they are the same person!
Real talk Tiger Lily at 23:34 gave me LIFE lol
The correlation between the two Disney Peter Pan films is that the sequel centers around Wendy's daughter, Jane, going to Neverland.
Feel free to re-react to that one if you want. "Return to Neverland" is definitely one of the better Disney sequels to occur (and one the few that actually released in theaters).
Seeing you watching those classics is like reliving childhood…
Anyway, on to fun facts!
Me too.
I still don’t have my ipad with all of the facts on it so here is what I am going by memory.
So the voice of George Darling and Captain Hook is the same actor which is playing in tradition of the play where both were played by the same actor.
Before the Disney film Peter Pan was always played by a woman including the most famous one being Mary Martin,
In the original story Tinker Bell drinks poison meant for Peter and the people in the audience are supposed to clap their hands to keep her alive and Walt had wanted to implement that idea in the film, but wasn’t sure how to do it so it was scrapped.
You NEED to see the movie Hook with Robin Williams! It's a Peter Pan spin off where he leaves Neverland and grows up! Trust me, you'll love it!
Peter Pan was my favourite Disney film as a child. I still love it as an adult.
Hook and Smee will always have me dying on the floor with laughter. Smee is just a very clumsy henchman
Wrong! She is completely in love with Peter Pan.
Okay now you absolutely have to watch the 2003 live action Peter Pan. If you want a good Peter and Wendy story, great fantasy storytelling and a fantastic music score, you're in for a treat. It really is only the best live action Peter Pan film alongside Hook.
So happy that "Hook"is coming up after "Jumanji"! Been waiting for "Hook"since "HTTYD"!
This one for me is.simply the best. It cant be topped....the.animation,the.music, the story...I love it.
Again, my childhood! This movie was one of my favorites when I was smaller. I didn’t get tired of it for awhile until I did…
"Row for the ship" is my favourite line of all time.
Row for the ship...! ROW FOR THE SHI- *KLONG!!!*
It's so beautiful, it's one that has really stuck with me throughout the years 😍
I remember first watching it when I was around 6 years old, I am now 24 and still adore it just as much!
Nick I just want to say we REALLY appreciate you, we love you and we'll always support you 💜
At some point you have to watch “Hook”.
Not to mention that Prince Zuko’s voice actor is in it.
If you don't remember the 2nd movie that well, maybe you should react to it again. It would be nice to see you feel nostalgic
@@strawberrysoulforever8336 yeah, plus i liked how they showed how the war affected the characters too
@@cakebeforeheartbreak Yes, and kids grew up faster around that era in both WWI and WWII.
@@strawberrysoulforever8336 yep. I feel so sad for those people. I had to grow up fast myself and it's not a fun experience because once you're an adult you can't get that back.
Mr. Smee is voiced by Disney regular Bill Thompson. He was the White Rabbit in Alice In Wonderland (and also voiced the Dodo in that film), the Irish cop and Jock in Lady And The Tramp, Ranger Woodlore in the Humphrey The Bear cartoons, and even the original voice of Scrooge McDuck before Alan Young took over the role.
..and Wendy Darling is voiced by Katherine Beaumont- Alice (Liddle) from Alice in wonderland.
*Liddel
And he also voiced Droopy the Dog for some time
Another one of my favorite childhood movies.
One of my childhood favs. Honestly shocked you hadn’t seen it yet.
The live action remake is great too!
Which one, there’s quite a few.
The facial similarities in the second film is because the main character, Jane, is Wendy's daughter.
Nick, this made my heart so happy! A true classic and a great reaction. Thank you for this!
Love this film. Thanks for checking it out. Fun Fact: the first song second star to the right used the melody from a deleted song from Alice in wonderland called beyond the laughing sky
The Crocodile's eyes were my favourite part of the film, I love when animation matches the music in such a funny way!
Two things I'd like to say about this movie:
One; there is this very subtle joke Smee says during the scene where he's about to give Captain Hook a clean shave, that until a couple of years ago, I hadn't picked up on. Smee has just shooed away Tick Tock Croc(that's the croc's name btw) and he says, "they'll be no hand outs today." It's such dry humor but, I love it. 😂
And two; speaking of the croc, there is a deleted song from this movie that I highly recommend having a listen to sometime.
Maybe "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" (1971). It features live actors alongside animation which was new for the time.
No it wasn’t, it had already been done masterfully in Mary Poppins nearly ten years earlier, and pretty much since animation as we know it had been invented, like in The Alice Comedies of the 1920s
02:32 For years I heard that narration as "Peter Pan was the spirit of view."
15:03 One of the best bits in this film is how, when Tick-Tock turns up, Hook turns from a ruthless pirate into a gibbering idiot.
27:00 I could've sworn that every time Hook's under duress he had this habit of shouting "Fish!"
29:25 What made buffalo buff?
The main girl in the sequel Peter Pan: Return to Neverland is Wendy’s daughter, Jane.
Also if you want to see another amazing adaptation of Peter Pan, watch Hook starring Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman.
Looking forward to your reaction to the sequel! My nostalgia has me biased, but it's one of my favorite Disney movies. We owned it so I have no idea how many times I've watched it. My mom could probably vouch that it was a lot.
Another Peter Pan movie is called "Hook" with Robin Williams, you should watch that also! It's an amazing take on the peter pan story
💚💛🏴☠️⚔️🧚🏻
Cyril Ritchard is the greatest Captain Hook.
Honestly Peter Pan has always been one of my faves as a character and I understand the never wanting to grow up thing

Thanks for another Disney film reaction Nick, always appreciate it!😁
The Croc's name isn't Tic Tok.
Nick when I watch all your first time reactions I can't help thinking to myself "has he ever watched any movies before he started his reaction channel ?" 😂
If you can find a copy, I recommend "Peter Pan Goes Wrong". It's absolutely hilarious, and I'm sure you'd love it.
Loved the reaction, by the way 😁
Hans Conreid as Captain Hook is easily one of the funniest Disney villain portrayals ever and Smee is absolutely adorable as his Toadie.
It is believed that the prototype of Tinker Bell is Marilyn Monroe, but it was the actress Margaret Kerry.
Wow thanks for the fun fact! I actually wasn't aware ☺️
He was also a Pedophile along with Alice in Wonderland's author, Charles Dodgeson( Lewis Carroll).
I totally would love to see you watch the peter pan 2 and live action peter pan (2003) it’s really good! ❤️
The voice and live action model for Peter Pan is Bobby Driscoll. He played Jim in the original Disney's Treasure Island
This was the first Disney movie my family owned when I was a kid, so this one has a special place in my heart.
This movie is one of my top 5 most favorite Classic Disney movies ever
