  • This is the fastest and easiest way to resize 50 cal brass. I've done over 15,000 this way and I'll never use that Lee Classic press ever again. The only lube I use is beer!

    Waste of time. I milled out the chamber in my gun to open up the throat. All my casings are resized right when they leave the gun! Also all my 50 BMG is subsonic now!

    Nice setup. I read in the comments you used a 6" bore, it must have at least a 4" stroke. Wonder if that would be powerful enough to swage bullets. I think I"ll be building one

      Ive tried resizing 50 cal projectiles with the 6" bore and it can barely do it, sometimes they get stuck. Main problem is that it builds up pressure then suddenly shoots through the sizing die, actually stuck a bullet in the ceiling once. seems like hydraulic would be much better for some of these things. another thing is that pulling power isnt as much as the pushing power so sometimes you jam something in and cant get it out. Might work for you, I'm not really familiar with the process or how much force is needed.

    can u tell me how 2 make bottle openers? I want to make some for my friends. Thx

      Get live 50 cal rounds and cut a slot in them with a propane torch. Run them thru the washing machine to shine them up and then dry in the dryer.

      Thx. Does Walmart sell the 50 cal rounds? I have a gift card I wanna spend.

      yes, they do actually. The easiest way to get the powder out of them is to bake them in the oven at 350 for 30 minutes.

    do you de prime as you resize? Is it a 6 inch cyl with 6 inch stroke? Do you have a parts list or drawing

    • @LouSassle
      @LouSassle  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I dont do this for reloading so I dont deprime. shell holder would fill full of primers quickly since there is no place for them to go, could possibly modify shell holder so they come out the side, or flip the unit upside down so they fall out every time you remove the brass. I removed the primer pin completely and just left the resizing part. This one is a 6" bore with a 4" stroke, 4" can be a little short with the primer pin in place but it is doable if you pay attention. You need a 6" stroke for seating the bullet but it only takes 1/100th the power of this beast so I recommend building another smaller unit just for that. I think there is another video that shows mine. It's all scrap metal and parts from eBay.

    Lou, Could you please build me one of these?????? What is the price?

    • @LouSassle
      @LouSassle  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You wouldnt like the price tag! The cylinder is about $1200 new if you wanted one just like this, you can find something similar for less if you shop around or get a used one. It's a simple concept but getting all the parts to fit together is more work than you would think. You cant just go to the hardware store and buy a shell holder to pneumatic cylinder adapter! Did you see my other video of the pneumatic bullet press for 50 bmg? th-cam.com/video/FrFHOoPPWZM/w-d-xo.html

      Thanks for the reply. What size compressor are you using? PSI?

    • @LouSassle
      @LouSassle  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      80 gallon compressor at 135psi. This thing does like to use a lot of air when you are going fast but the compressor is usually able to keep up with me. You gonna build one?

    • @GC-hw9ju
      @GC-hw9ju 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I am going to build one. Let me know if there are any tricks about doing it..If you don't mind.. It looks pretty straight forward. Where did you get the switch from? What size is that Cylinder?

    • @LouSassle
      @LouSassle  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thick steel on top, mine is 9/16" and you can still see it flex a bit. Dont use grade-8 nut on top, soft steel welds much better. Dont get cheap chinese air lever, they wear out quickly and cant be fixed, trust me I've tried! get exhaust port silencers, you'll see why. The lever you want is a "5-way, 2 position", spring return if possible, but you can rig up a return spring like I did if you cant find. I used a 6" bore cylinder, any smaller wont work, 6" is just barely enough, slightly bigger might not be a bad idea or just use more psi if you need to. You may have to flip yours upside down if you are removing primers since there is limited space in the shell holder. That's about all I can think of.

      Lou Sassle I'm looking for a good case lube to size 50bmg, any preference?

    • @LouSassle
      @LouSassle  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Before I quit using lube I used a spray bottle with dawn dishsoap thinned down with acetone. I would put 325 rounds in a plastic tub and spray a small amount and agitate, repeat until desired results. The acetone evaporates and you have a nice even thin film of dish soap left. Resize as usual and then when you tumble you dont need to add soap, just a little citric acid. Tumble with ceramic media (i use a modified cement mixer) , dry, and then vibratory tumble in corncob with white diamond polish and some rouge. I've done over 15,000 this way and if there was an easier, better, or cheaper way I would have figured it out by now.
