Oh my goodness my heart hurts. I so wish I had that doll house. I am 68 years old and still have the dream of owning one. I have been buying furniture for years with the hopes of building one but the one in your video is exquisite. Love watching your thrifts
Put tinfoil in pot, heat to boil, add salt. Put in silver jewelry or silverware, comes out super clean nearly instantly. No brushing needed. Try it, works great.

My grandma taught me this...If your sweater gets snags...use a very thin crochet hook or a fine needle and delicately pull or push the snagged thread back into inside of sweater, then using hook or needle, coax thread into a tied knot. Sweater will look good as new!

You do not have to match your crystal pieces. Tables still look lovely with different patterns. Easy way to set the table at a low cost too. Stop waiting for perfection.

The best place for 10 cents on the dollar. The one nearest me I have been shopping since the mid 70's. Oldest item I have ever found was a print of a lady dated 1784. Most valuable was a Hammond church organ with a large speaker. Why shop anywhere else.

My solution to messed up gilded edge crystal -- just scrub the rest of the gold trim off and you have a beautiful crystal glass, vase, candleholder, etc.

Hi Tonya, yes, the aluminum foil +baking soda+boiled water trick works on removing the tarnish from silver. I’ve tried it many times and it always worked!

It works, but also removes the tarnish that would normally remain in the details/scrolls/etching on a piece, thus making any details harder to see.
1 cup water + 2 TBS oxyclean + 1/4 cup white vinegar. Mix in a large bowl as it will bubble. Put in a spray bottle and use it as needed when you want to shine metal. Or soak a really tarnished piece in it for a few minutes. No scrubbing necessary.
Thank you that I found your channel because I love going to Goodwill, antique stores and thrift stores on my day off when I was working. I get so emotional thinking whatever happened to the owners. They either homeless, divorced or died. Such beautiful things to leave behind.

I used to clean for a lady. Prior to Thanksgiving I would spend a whole day polishing her silver. She had so many pieces. I bet it was beautiful for Thanksgiving dinner with her family. I never saw the tables all set up.
The process of covering Sterling jewelry with baking soda, then pouring boiling water over and letting it sit, then rinsing works well. No foil. I use a ceramic bowl. Don't know about silver plate, but worked great on .925 sterling.
I've used the foil and baking soda hack for years...it's the only way to go. I use old cotton cloth diapers to rub the silver dry, and it buffs up perfectly. I would buy those chafing dishes if I were there. Those are good prices, and they won';t last long at this season of the year.

As for silver, no thank you. Don’t want to polish that stuff! Wish I had a GW in my area that had such good stuff.

Dont use the hot water baking soda method it ruins the silver and turns it an unnatural color.

I think I would have had to buy the dollhouse just for the satisfaction of organizing and decorating the rooms! It would be so fun to play with, even for a grown up! Plus, you could sell it later and at least get your money back, but probably make a little money. Even the silly plastic ones kids have these days are well over $50.

The Elk Grove GW is one of my fun places to go. So many good things I picked up there. I saw that Doll house some time after or before you saw it. It sold I know to a local treasure hunter as well.

It works, but you must pour the ingredients into a glass container, not metal.
That does mean that you will need to clean your smaller silver items with that method.

Clean it then wrap it with saran wrap- that helps to keep it polished!
Those silver coffee pots and servers need cream silver polish, and they would be beautiful again.

Most of that silver would not polish out, you can see some of it has damage where the silver plate would not be able to be restored. Cool pieces tho!

We call them relish trays, even when there's no relish in them. At 19:34, those 2 matching glass orange pieces, maybe a salt & pepper set, I loved those. MAD about them. NEED them.

Love the glass platter that you found, I have something similar but it's an oval shape. I love silver, most of the ones you found today didn't look like high quality, I'm glad you didn't buy them. The only two that looked worthwhile were the large tray with feet and the tall chaffing dish. A great silver polish is Goddard's they have a solid one which is very easy to use and lasts for ages. It's a shame you're not in the UK there's a fantastic vintage shop on Etsy, I think you would love their stock.

I have tried that method, it's not perfect but does work. It has baking soda and salt in it.

I own one of those arcoroc bowls with 4 of the little bowls ( the ones you see behind it aren't the matching ones). I come across them very often and it would not be difficult to piece together a set of them. Anyways, love your video. Its always fun to see all the great things that can be found in thrift stores.

i use the siver foil method all the time ,and if iam storeing it out of sight of sight;i wrap the pieces in foil to slow down the tarnishing.

His items are very collectible and unique. My Goodwills have great stuff, but it is in and out the same day.
