Introduction to Flights of the Phoenix channel and the Phoenix motorglider

I am the proud owner of the only Phoenix U15 touring motorglider in Australia. My intention is to travel to lots of different places and chase gliding opportunities in this unique little aircraft.
This quick introduction was made while I was on my way to the first big adventure - flying through the eye of a total solar eclipse.

So, you don't need a pilot's license or FAA medical to fly this? Just a glider certificate?

The rules change by country, but generally the medical requirements for a glider certificate are much simpler than a full pilots licence.

The latest exciting news about the Phoenix is that the aircraft manufacturing has been taken over by JMB. It is not clear what this means for local sales, but they will be sold as a JMB Phoenix now.
