Lila was foolish not to get a lawyer to negotiate with the police for her. A lawyer might have convinced her to accept the first offer -- testify against Ronald, and get immunity. She might even have gotten the same offer the second time. Not that I feel sorry for her. She didn't handle her case well, but she did deserve life in jail, reduced to 30 years for her cooperation.

When the scheme was about to be found out he murdered his wife for the life insurance and carried on with the stripper. Eventually, he was arrested and pled guilty without going to trial. I've only recently realised how many married women just do not like sex, and that's almost a guarantee that a husband will look elsewhere for it. It's very unfair to marry someone then let him know after the wedding that you don't like sex. But I do think that any husband/partner who finds that out should be honest and say he will not tolerate that situation, and just leave. Cheating isn't a solution.

I think when most think of a murderer, they think "psychopath." But when someone who is "normal" commits a murder, it is something difficult for them to live with. You see this in videos sometimes, when a cop shoots someone exactly as they were trained and then breakdown over it. It isn't "normal" to be indifferent or proud about killing another human and I could see this eat away at a person.
Those who go on to marry, become a mother and a nurse as if nothing ever happened is more shocking to me than those who go on to fail in every aspect of their lives. The guilt, shame, remorse, would color everything.
