    It’s time to start playing the Queen’s gambit. This opening is one of the most popular ones it has been for many years -especially at the top level. My main goal is that once you finish this class, you have everything you need to start playing the queen’s gambit as the white pieces. I will explain what a gambit is. Then I will prove to you that it’s okay to sacrifice the pawn on c4. Many of my students won’t play this opening because they are paranoid about not being able to get the pawn back. That’s why I will show move by move how to get the pawn back or even more than that in some cases. Likewise, you will learn the plans you need to follow in case they decline the gambit. Finally, I will show you a couple games played by professional Chess players.
    00:00 Intro
    02:10 What is a gambit in Chess?
    05:30 The Queen’s gambit accepted
    07:17 The Queen’s gambit declined
    09:32 First master game (with the queen’s gambit accepted)
    14:45 Second master game (with the queen’s gambit declined)

    Benefits of Playing Chess:
    - Promotes brain growth
    - Increases problem-solving skills
    - It exercises both sides of the brain
    - Raises your IQ
    - Sparks your creativity
    - Teaches planning and foresight
    - Teaches patience and concentration
    - Optimizes memory improvement
    - Improves recovery from stroke or disability
    - Helps treat ADHD
    Chess is an intellectual battle where players are exposed to numerous mental processes such as analysis, attention to detail, synthesis, concentration, planning and foresight. Psychological factors are also present on and off the board; playing Chess stimulates our imagination and creativity. Every single move a player makes is the result of a deep analysis based on the elements presented on the battlefield.
    Chess in its essence teaches us psychological, sociological and even moral values. In a Chess game, both players start with the same amount of material and time. The fact that the white pieces move first is considered to be practically irrelevant -especially because a player typically plays one game as white and one game as black. Consequently, the final result of the battle solely depends on each player. It doesn’t matter if you win by taking advantage of your opponent’s mistakes or by simply avoiding mistakes yourself. Truth is that Chess is an extremely individual sport and our defeats can only be blamed on ourselves and no one else. And this, in the end, only benefits us because we learn to be and feel responsible for our actions and never come up with excuses to justify ourselves.
    We also learn that when it comes to our victories on the board, our opponent's mistakes play a more significant role than our own skills. Let’s not forget that a Chess game without any mistakes would be a draw. This way, Chess provides us with another valuable life lesson: be humble at all times.

    I think nobody compliments your thumbnails (miniaturas) enough. The azure color is nice and friendly; also sometimes you add a very subtle touch of humor in them, like the David statue covered with jeans or the isolated pawn thinking "Fellas...?" I loved those. These kind of things are funny in a sense they elicit a smile without turning the videos into a youtube channel full of memes, although everytime you say "endgame" in your tutorials I'm hoping you add a Thanos face for like half a second for a comedic effect, lol. I've learned a lot of the Pirc defense, more than I could possibly have imagined in my wildest dreams. Thanks bro. Saludos desde Argentina, camarada

Also, at the end, after Bh7+, I like the variation where Black goes Kh8. Then White takes the rook with his knight protecting the bishop, and if Black takes the queen then Nxf7 is checkmate! even if i don't play this opening so much, i like it, most of the time it is because I instinctively play an opening with move logic, and sometimes it transposes in this opening, but I would like to advise people to see them. variations of each opening even if you don't want to play them, if you want to get better, you have to learn a lot about each opening, because you can transpose from there, but the reason why I say that is not because sometimes you can transpose in an opening that you do not know, but the reason is, if the openent plays with this opening or another that you do not know, you have to know the maximum on each opening in order to know the ideas it can play against you and you can counter all, I love queens gambit, pirc, ruiz lopez, kia and kid, but I try to learn other, like french deffence, sicilian etc, in order to counter them etc, I love the opening videos of this channel, each of them com carries variations on the basis of each one and I would like to thank you master for facilitating the learning like that, thank you very much sir

  • @matthewt3969
    @matthewt3969 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    This video was really fun to watch and after watching you explain this opening, it appeals to me! On the other hand, I can't help but feel that I should be just keep hammering away at the e4 and Vienna opening you showed in your earlier video. It feels perhaps like spending time learning this opening is simply time I should have spent toward mastering the e4/Vienna approach that we've already learned, especially since white can always dictate 'e4' to start. Not sure where to commit my time - thoughts?

    • @NMRobertRamirez
      @NMRobertRamirez  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think you are right. If your time for Chess is limited, prioritize it well. You can use the queen's gambit from time to time with what you learned here and that will give you exposure to these other position types and ideas, but do not try to memorize everything. Instead, focus on middle and endgame as well as your current openings 👍

  • @johngalbicsek5567
    @johngalbicsek5567 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    This is awesome. I never studied TQG because I'm not really interested in 1d4. But love your content and decided not to skip it so I don't miss any context for future videos only to discover I've been playing this as black (kind of) as a result of the Old Benoni. Seriously, after d4, c5 if they don't play the "correct" move of D5 (In which case it just turns into a closed or Czech Benoni most the time the way I play) and instead take the pawn it's the same can of worms for white trying to hold onto it. There is the same exact "inelegant" method of check and collect with the queen as accepted queens gambit, but much better is to play e6 where you either get the pawn with a tempo for your bishop or go into the trap if they try b4 (a5, c3?, axb4, cxb4??, Qf6) and if they decide not to take it, I learned d5 and e6 going for the same structure as white here from a lot of trial and error and engine analysis lol. This helps so much even with that experience, as there isn't many old Benoni vids online about what to do if they dont play d5 or go for the trap. The answer is queens gambit as black! Sorry for the novel, but had to express how much I appreciate your stuff as I'm actually back for a rewatch on this one already

    In the QGA line, what if they try to defend the pawn by developing their bishop to e3 (the other bishop will be fianchettoed, presumably)?

    • @NMRobertRamirez
      @NMRobertRamirez  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! That line is not used because the e6-bishop is really bad placed. Even if they tried doing g6-Bg7, White always has ideas of Ng5 bothering the bishop or even e4 followed by d5 👍

  • @fduchateau

    Thanks for the video. One question: Why prefer e3 to e4 after the gambit got accepted?

    • @phen-themoogle7651
      @phen-themoogle7651 ปีที่แล้ว

      4:25, Qf3 and can capture a piece along the diagonal. If e4 was played then this tactic wouldn't work. e3 also guards d4 and leaves a lot of options open. However, e4 is also very strong and normal theory too. It's just a matter of preference and I like to play e3 against beginners because they fall for the trap sometimes. Against stronger players I'm going for a bigger center probably.

    are you planning on making a lesson on nimzo larsen attack?
    today i played against a player who played nimzo larsen 4 times in the match (2 times as white and 2 times as black)
    i played italian kings pawn once and pirc (2 times as black and once as white)
    i only won one game in which i played pirc as white 😂😅
    however throughout the opening and middle game i could not figure out what my opponent was doing and really wanted to learn something about nimzo larsen attack from you.
    also do you reccomend playing pirc as white regularly or should i focus more on purely white oriented openings?

    • @NMRobertRamirez
      @NMRobertRamirez  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Aryan! I know you must be tired of hearing me say this 😅 but do not worry about the opening. I am sure that you lost the games because of something you missed in the middle or endgame.
      Now, regarding your questions... yes, I am going to go over the Nimzo Larsen Attack at some point, but just know that it is only called like that when played as white. I myself play something that can be similar, which is called the Bird opening. But, you should not worry about those yet.
      As far as the Pirc as white, I think it is okay, but you will learn more Chess if you play purely white oriented openings on the regular. Feel free to share your games with me to see where things went wrong for you 👍 I see you are taking this regularly and I will be happy to take a look and give you some pointers.

    Hello coach, I am lacking behind at Chess. Your videos were too helpful to me but, I think I accelerated too fast. Now, I am mixed up and not able to decide what to do now. Should I study Chess Fundamentals because I haven't mastered fundamentals yet? Or should I go on learning openings? Or should I focus on memorising the squares because I haven't done it yet? Or should I focus on calculations? Or should I analyze my and Grandmaster's game? Or should I practice and understand openings? Or should I read a book? Or should I practice tactics that I regularly do about 80-100/day?
    These all questions are inevitable. So coach could you give me a suggestion or just suggest me a good book that I can read other than tactics. Please help me.
    And one more question, how should I analyze my games thoroughly?

    • @NMRobertRamirez
      @NMRobertRamirez  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hello! Let's talk about this...😎
      Regarding what you should do to improve, I would recommend you start by doing the following consistently:
      1) Keep training your tactics (top priority). You could do it on websites such as chess.com, lichess.org, etc or by using tactics books like the ones in my book recommendations (or both).
      2) Play games (we need to practice). I typically have my students play 15|10 and 5|5 the most. From time to time, we do longer time controls, especially if there is a tournament coming up.
      3) Follow this course in order. I am providing you guys with the teaching plan I follow and it is in this specific order for a reason. If necessary, go back and rewatch some lessons if you find it necessary to refresh some material. If you are not up to date, then keep going since man y of your questions might be answered in future lessons 👍
      4) Complement all of this with other Chess books. I think a good book for you at this point is the one about Magnus Carlsen that I listed on my book recommendations (you can find it in the description of any of the videos). Some of these books you might even find them for free on the internet.
      5) Keep asking me questions as you go over the lessons and books. I am happy to help 💪

    Recently in a game as white , after my opp accepts queens gambit i played e3, then he played b5 defending his pawn , then I played a4 as you told . I thought i will definitely win material as you told b5 is a mistake by him.But then he played bishop d7 defending his b5 pawn. I am asking why didn't you mention a move like bishop b7. If bishop b7 is a mistake , why? I was not able to find any tactic after b7 so i did axb5.

    I have a question, when i played this opening and after i played c4 as white pieces he captured me with c4 and then he protected this move by moving Be6 and i couldn't capture his pawn at this move what can i do ?

    • @NMRobertRamirez
      @NMRobertRamirez  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Isaa! It's great to know you are enjoying these lessons so much. If they try to hold on to their pawn with Be6, you can continue with Nc3. Now, you are threatening d5 followed by Bxc4. However, most people as white do not even bother to take on c4 right away. Instead, they continue to develop their other knight to f3. Sometimes, that knight after going to f3, goes to e5 and puts additional pressure on that c4 pawn and also on f7. Hope this makes sense and let me know if you have any other questions 👍

    • @isaaacademy4552
      @isaaacademy4552 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello @@NMRobertRamirez and thank you for answering me in the first place, but just to confirm i am the white pieces not him and if i go with Bxc4 he will capture me with his Bishop , actually i didn't get why i move the knight to c3 and there is nothing in d5 to be threaten!
      especially if he developed his knight to f6 and by this move he protects the d5 square!
      and if i did Bxc4 he will capture my bishop with his bishop as well.. maybe there is something that i don't understand here.

    • @NMRobertRamirez
      @NMRobertRamirez  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@isaaacademy4552 I understand why you got confused. When I said "threatening d5" I meant threatening to push our pawn from d4 to d5, making their bishop move and then we take with our bishop on c4. I did not explain that clearly before. Now, if they do Nf6, you should continue with Nf3. Once your knight is on f3, it can jump to e5 and help you take on c4 (although we do not really care about that pawn). If they allow you to do Ng5, that is powerful too because from g5 your knight can take their bishop, getting them doubled pawns and leaving c4 unprotected. If they ever do b5 to protect c4 even more, you always have a4, breaking that. Please, let me know if there is something still not clear or if you have any other question 😎

      2. c4 dxc4
      3. Nc3 Be6
      4. e3 Nf6
      5. d5 Bxd5
      6. Nxd5 Nxd5
      what should i do ! instead ?

    • @NMRobertRamirez
      @NMRobertRamirez  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@isaaacademy4552 no worries. I do not mind going back and forth until we make it work 😎 Here is what I meant:
      1. d4, d5
      2. c4, dxc4
      3. e3 (instead of Nc3 although no big deal), Be6
      4. Nc3 (trying to do d5), Nf6 (stopping d5)
      5. Nf3 (trying to go Ng5 or Ne5)
      If they do something like a6 now, you can do Ng5 to eliminate the e6-bishop. If they stop you with something like h6, then you can go Ne5 attacking the c4-pawn even more. Let me know if it makes sense, otherwise, we try it again 💪
