Decks accelerate so fast going second 1st turn with RM and iron valiant/entei. Charizard ex is a good late game attacker but attacking a benched Charmander messes up it's tempo. Also it can brick as well. So I think that's probably why.
Charizard bdif just doesn't pilot as easy as it looks, patience is your friend and use Pidgeot to attack if zard is vulnerable to ko. It also has counters to iron hands and snorlax with mirior. Run it defensively oriented and stall like. It only takes a turn to cook up a set up. Lost zone-counter catcher-iono is the wave.
