I'd like to chime in that for game development, the programming language to start with can depend on the part of a game development that you're interested in. C/C++ would make sense if you were into game engines, the core program that runs games itself. If you'd want to deal with implementing gameplay mechanics and the likes of it, this is where things can depend. Using an existing game engine would mean that the language of choice would be tied to the scripting language it decided upon. Unreal Engine uses C++, Unity in C#, other engines like Godot supports a few including one they came up with called GodotScript. And of course, there's visual programming (like Scratch) that places blocks and diagrams in relation to each other to implement logic.
I started with python, than thanks to CS50 i know C, I'm not very proficient in both of them but ya i understand and know their basic syntax and now I'm fully into Golang, thanks to my interest in DevOps and cloud native, where Golang is being used like everywhere and now I'm looking forward to become a Golang developer ( a self taught ). Knowing C helps u in learning Golang. So i feel it's just upon you, what language u find interesting and where u wanna see yourself in coming years.
Ngl I think learning something new every so often isn't that bad as if you are doing the same things again and again with the same logic behind it it can get repetitive and when you learn something new you have the task of working out how it works and then using it.
You see TH-cam is Part of Google. I have been "suggested" to two main programming languages daily on TH-cam. They are JavaScript and Python. As soon as I started gathering information for self taught Python, TH-cam would pop up videos that suggesting JavaScript as the first programming language to learn.
C++, then JS. Trust me, most of the frameworks will depend on JS. C++ will teach you everything about OOP. Python is just taking someone's pre-made code and re-using what they've already coded there.
JS/TS is the way to go. Though I would love to see them marry something like Rust to the language like they did with C++ and python. Just something to help with compilation speed and concurrency.
Is it a must to know html and CSS or can JavaScript be learnt without it? The Jonas course on udemy on mastering JavaScript seems good. If you had to pick one which would it be Python or Js? (I know it depends what you'd like to specialise in and do with it)

When do you usually know to change your language?? For example, I'm a beginner so I'm currently learning Python, and I want to get into C++ asap as I'm interested in Game Development, however, I still feel like I need to understand Python a bit more. When do you know you are ready to transfer from language to language?
Use the language for the problem at hand. You want to be a game developer? Write a basic component that might fit into a larger engine in C++. Pick a project that interests you, then choose the right language for the job, independently of your knowledge of the language(at your current level).
