Definitely worth it. I have mine in weather alert scan mode attached to my backup battery.

I'm probably going with the MROWR120B model at some point. I have several weather radios, but none have alerts. The alert radio that died didn't have S.A.M.E., so I got alerts over three northeast states. Too bad Ubuntu doesn't have alert applications -- maybe some day.

I keep this radio with weather alerts hooked up to my backup battery, since itself is also a backup battery. When the power went out the last time, I had the big battery for lights and the radio for my phone.
