So which of the two H40ALV-3 Uncoated/Zplus has a better performance-price ratio for the 6xxx and 7xxx series aluminum? Great channel👌

That would be the coated version. Zplus. Would not use the new Dplus in 6000&7000 series, could be overkill. Unless you never want to change your endmill!!😂

@@CuttingtoolCounselor you mention that Dplus coating is for 4xxx series Aluminium-silicon alloys, so it can be used efficently for 6-7xxx also? What is the average Dplus rougher tool life on high speed dry machining (12000RPM) comparing to Zplus rougher? I would never want to change my endmil rougher for high series CNC manufacturing 😄

@@33samogo what’s the flute count your using? Dplus will way outperform Zplus in 6000 and 7000 series. I would say3 times the life min providing a stable setup. Reason I asked about flute count is I’m not a huge fan of 3 or more dry. Although Dplus would be my choice dry.

@@CuttingtoolCounselor I am neither a machinist nor a programmer, but a developer, although I do all three, because I always want to push the limits (you can't make a great product if you don't know the technology ;). I am trying to come up with the most efficient milling plan for my serial parts of 6-7xxx T6 series, this includes a CNC machine as tools. In my case, rough milling has the greatest impact on the total time of milling work, so I will use the Volumill method in programming. What I think is crucial in the first step is to determine the optimal spindle speed for this operation, and this is conditioned by the tool harmonics (axial depth/spindle speed stability lobe diagram). If the most effective rotation range is somewhere between 12000 - 20000RPM, then it is necessary to ensure good evacuation of the chips, so the tool needs a maximum of 3 low angle flutes (I think 2 is to low, but I am not an expert). The axial cut is not deep, 15mm max, what feeds&speeds do you recommend in this case (3 axis operation) using Dplus? (I will adapt the machine to the optimal milling process, and not the other way around). Do you also have distribution outside the US? Thank you for your responsiveness.👍

@@33samogo I like your approach. My main job at Harvey performance is to work with some of the best aerospace companies. I know you probably thought All I did were these videos😂😂As you know there is a-lot of aluminum in aerospace. My question back to you before some recomondations. What is your Max spindle? If we know this I can make sure I am optimizing that based on your axial. Assuming you are using a volumill tool path as well. 15mm axial we could go with chip splitter if necessary. I do a lot of the tap testing at Harvey/Helical as well. So we know a little bit about the harmonics between spindle/holder and tool. Last thing are there any radius’s I need to know about? Let me know and I can help make some suggestions.
