I have to say as a women that mows my own lawn you have a couple of amazing women mowing and they are doing a great job!! It’s so great you’re helping them and others thru this time. I don’t have a reel mower and enjoy learning as I watch this video in the AC. LOL I’m in northeast Georgia and you’re right IT IS HOT!!!!
It's been almost 3 weeks since I've had rain here in texas on top of that sprinkler system quit working so I'm using one hose end sprinkler moving it all over the yard haha so much fun
Avid follower Doc. Severe drought in TX. 100+ and humid. I probably over watered to compensate for the drought and heat. Major fungus on my lawn. I’ve applied a fungicide. Trying to get back to the best Bermuda on the block.
1st! You're amazing brother. Way to help people and teach people along the way. Making people better and showing compassion and empathy are key attributes of an amazing leader (that's my military talking LOL). Love your videos bro keep em up!
I just bought this mower. I noticed the manual on this mower says max of .75 inches. (Greenskeeper 25 inch with Honda engine) However, when loosing the bolts and start turning the mico height adjusting bolt. I realized those micro height adjusting bolts can make the mower cut more than it. In fact, I set up the height to .75 using a level and tape measure and it increased to .85 after retightening all the loosened bolts. When I took it out to do a trial patch in my backyard, the clutch belt would become loose and disconnect from the pulley. I tried 3 times, putting the belt back on and would come right off. So I guess my question is the clutch tension changed when going higher on the mower cut and should I not put this mower about .75? Seems like even though manual says it goes to .75 that the micro height adjusters allow the mower to cut a lot taller that that. A response would be huge, as I watch all your videos and bought this particular mower because I love your passion for this mower. You do great work. Thanks again.
Praise to you, handing down the great skills of lawn care. Passed it down from the good witch, too the green horn good witch. Lol, keep up the lawn learning GURU.
Doc as much as I love the pro reel mowers I would love for you to look at some of the push mowers if they are doable for 3-5k sqft. Also look into something like the Gardena Accu Rechargeable Cylinder Lawnmower 380 Li. This comes in at about half the cost of the start of the top tier big ones you got (~$500 USD), and are found on amazon. Have a good weekend doc! :)
Hello Doc, can you add a link for your drone that your using? Seems to be a DJI Maverick but which one, I’m looking to upgrade with a drone with audio capabilities via iPhone thanks. Enjoy your weekend 😎
Doc, my yard is about as hard as concrete because we haven’t had rain in 2 weeks. Plus our city has implemented a water restriction so we can only water 2 days a week. What are thoughts on doing a liquid aeration to loosen up the soil so when I do water it soaks in instead of running down the street.
Beautiful lawn, but how do not have any weeds? I can't get rid of weeds, crabgrass is a real problem too, plus I have bermuda but other kinds of "good grass" in other spots, I'd like it to all be bermuda, would you suggest i completely kill everything in those spots and plant the bermuda, or can i overseed and hope the bermuda will take over. thanks for any suggestions
Hello Doc, I recently treated my lawn with tenacity and the weeds and crab grass are turning white .. I live in New Jersey and I would like to overseed and put down some nutrients to make my grass healthy too... I was thinking that Bermuda would be best .. Any recommendations? Thank you
Doc how were the results of the lawns when you applied the Sta Green start fertilizer to raise the PH? Im waiting for my test result and im pretty sure im low on PH. Should i try that sta green product you mentioned on your soil test results video?
Doc...what do you think about products like Hydretain to help with drought like conditions? I'm following your calendar and putting down PGF, Humichar, FUNGICIDES, And Insecticides, but I'm still getting a browning.
WATER... is about the only thing that will cure it. And yes... it's not cheap. My lawn only has one browning area and it's due to lack of water. You can try hydros... but test them on a strip vs non treated. I think you'll find that they don't help enough to cure severe rain shortages.
Great vid Doc. I have one question, how much lbs per 1000 ft of chicken feed do you put on the lawn. With a 4 lbs per 1000 ft of biochar.? Thank you for spreading the knowledge. I moved to north Georgia From Ca. Was growing fescue in Ca, now here is all Bermuda. Using your vids I am dominating the "mean green" in my neighborhood.
@@HowTowithDoc I'm currently at 2" in North Texas. I have a Toro rotary, Fiskars manual reel and just picked up a new/used McLane 25" 10 blade that needs some TLC. What is the best way to get down to 1"? Use rotary to take the inch off? Problem is, my yard definitely has some bumps and ruts (first lawn leveling has been done though) and expect I will experience scalping. So, do I just deal with the scalping and at least it will be at 1" to maintain going forward? Great videos, great guide! Keep up the great advice for those of us with GrassOCD!
I REALLY want a reel mower, HOWEVER....My concern is, will it leave scalp marks? my lawn is relatively flat, but bumpy. ..... Cutting at about 1 3/4" with a rotary mower now ...any lower and it leaves ugly swirl marks when the wheel hit the 'dips'...... I really want to get below 1" but not sure I can without doing a leveling project.
Both Barb's and the WW lawns are so bumpy that you head hurts when riding a Deere. With the slower Mclanes there are never issues when cutting about 1"
Is there any specific reason you cut your grass so short besides preference? I think I've heard you say you cut the back at half an inch before. I personally prefer Bermuda grass at 1.5 inches during normal conditions and 2 inches during drought.
Appreciate the video… but it’s the turns and edging that is difficult. You showed the good witch and new lady mowing straight lines but never a turn. Please show real-time turning method with reel mower
@@HowTowithDoc Okay. So, If I had existing grass and now have some newbie sprouts from my recent seeding, do I need to wait for the newbies to be stronger? Or is it okay to mow at a higher setting and mulch the grass? People tend to say no to cutting until a few weeks. I dont see the logic if my blade is set for 1.5 inches or so to just help maintain the lawn. That shouldnt affect the new seed right?
Doc what a really good guy you are helping those folks around you.

I just pulled the trigger and ordered the Mclane 25” mower you recommended. Now we wait! ......
How could you hit “dislike” with her in the video? And she’s a hard worker! Rare.

Dude, you got it made in the shade. Two gorgeous helpers, loving the look of the yard...
Grass look great but helpers looks better😁 keep up the good work

Great comment ashontay, couldn’t agree more.
Great videos! Very cool to see someone give back to others. Your yard looks great. Good motivation to get my yard even better!!
Synchronized walking at 8:30! How cool is that ? LOL
Your doing great work! I hope to be able to help others like you have managed to
Unbelievable lawn!
~~~Working hard & the lawn looks great.
We gotta get Barb an irrigation system! 😂
God bless for helping others
Good Witch is a Goddess, unreplaceable!
Love these videos and love to see these. They are the highlight of my day!!
love the videos man just stumbled across your Channel today....!! in the process of bringing my lawn back to life , thanks for the tips!
Need to step up your edging game on those flower beds.
Looks nice
The difference in their tan is funny.
Nice work. Please show the turns. That's where most have their issues.
I will be happy to work there
Great job, love the help lol....
Can you please show the turn around process when mowing? The videos have this cut out. Thanks for the helpful videos.
Have you ever thought about a larger reel mower, maybe one with three reels?
Just no room for it right now.
Do cycle watering. Ten minutes per station then come back for another 10.
I know in the beginning you said humichar's price was a little higher due to the virus stuff. When do you think the price will drop?
Doc I’m in metro Atlanta; should I keep the grass tall for high traffic play areas? It’s 3-4”; and gets hammered by the kids.
Doc any reason you don’t use front bucket ? Thanks
Did Doc drop the f bomb ?😆
What are you spraying where your grass meets your mulch? I’ve noticed that it is brown on both the front and back lawn.
Hey Doc, my bermuda has gotten up to 3" and I have a reel mower coming next week. Can I get it down to 2" safely without scarring in 2-3 cuts?
I put 100 lbs down on about 10,000 sq feet last time. So.... 5-10 lbs per 1000
@@HowTowithDoc Thank you very much.
Do you recommend keeping Bermudagrass around 3”-5” inches during the middle of summer heat?
2" max but try and keep at 1.5. www.bermudalawnguide.com/
Fantastic. Thank you for the advice. Stay cool it’s going to be another hot one here in Northwest Arkansas too.
Do you have smaller bags of super juice
No, just the standard
1/2 to 1.5 is the correct height. Just prefer shorter as it's easier to maintain and looks better.
Doc, do you have the mcclane drive wheel engaged when you cut?
Yes... have tried it all ways and also on the trucuts. it's just the way reels cut on steep slopes.
How To with Doc I use a 20” reel with a roller. Sometimes I feel like it’s going too fast, but pushing that beast up hills can be a bit much.
Are you still adding the chicken crumbles with your HumiChar every time ?
I asked same question a few videos ago and he said he doesn’t since his lawn doesn’t need it now. He’s just been doing Humichar and PGF
What area of the country are you in?
How much property do you have?
Mine is just over 1/2 acre the other 3 are smaller
that is awesome that you can help people like you do. She's hot! sorry lol
Doc,
How early do you cut your grass after planting new seed?
When ever it needs it. No reason to really wait too long
