+Travis Reddington Cryogenic freezing is a lot more complicated than "Sleeping". In fact, they didn't fall asleep before the freeze. Lowering body temperature to induce stasis like that is sometimes done in the medical fields to keep a patient alive by reducing blood flow, which can reduce blood lost from open wounds/severed arteries and veins, reduce swelling in brain hemorrhages that put pressure on the brain (Which can lead to severe brain damage and brain death), and other uses. The experiment in Vault 111 was primarily to test long-term dangers of cryogenic freezing, and no one in Vault 111 was going to survive in the end (Explicit orders to not open the pods to administer life-saving medical aid, evacuating staff to allow Vault-Tec to monitor the pods remotely, etc.). They were basically seeing how long someone can survive when kept in cryogenic stasis indefinitely. Besides all that, the Sole Survivor was woken up just long enough to see their child kidnapped and spouse murdered while unable to do anything, which drastically increased heart rate and brain activity, and then almost immediately put back on ice. Plus, he had no food or water for that 200 years either, and while cryogenic stasis does SLOW metabolic functions like digestion, excretion, decay and regrowth of skin cells, and the growth of hair and finger/toe nails, it doesn't completely STOP all of it. Consider that, at the very least, the Sole Survivor is physically at least a couple years older than when they went in in terms of DNA integrity and physical age. The Sole Survivor probably needed a good rest, meal, and drink when they came out of the ice box, but they had to wade through the stress of an abandoned vault, radroaches, and seeing the new world in all of its irradiated gory (Not a typo there, it really is quite a bloody mess out there), I'd guess they were running on pure determination and grit until they got back to Codsworth in Sanctuary Hills.
Ok I was wondering why I returned back to that Factory you had to clear out was filled with Enemies again. They were so weak to me it was pitiful. I had power Armor too and they weren't scratching it at all.
To all those reading the comments and needing help in the beginning; clear the entire top left of the map all the way to the settlement near the middle at the top for maximum stuff. I did it today and came back with armor, more guns then I could carry, literally, and about 6 cores from the large robot at the scrap yard use the bunk as cover and shoot it without stepping completely out.
some things to note all the safes in sanctuary aside from the cellars you can deconstruct in build mode and the idems will automatically go to the inventory of the workbench so you don't have to lock-pick the advanced one in the blue house next to the bridge underneath a dresser
Great tips! Would like to add: when you reach the broken boat after swimming across, if you head across the water to the left you'll find a suitcase with 3 pieces of armor in it next to a bucket of bloatfly meat.
there's a easy army helmet (10 damage resistance) in the giant sat a lite dish you can see when you leave the vault, to the north east I believe... as well as a full set of armour, loads of ammo, a magazine and a mini gun... you can also make sure to pick up the locket then go to a nearby farm and hand it in for enough xp to level up twice! it is tough in the place mind so watch out...
If you turn in the locket you also get some caps, as well as access to the settlement itself if you're into that kinda thing, I think. To find the settlement you just need to go up the hill between Sanctuary and the Red Rocket where you find Dogmeat, then go Southwest past the water tower and through the field. It's easily identifiable by the huge power line on top of the shack. :) For all you newbs out there. Apologies but I've forgotten the settlements name atm.

Thanks for getting me into it again!!! … and look at your shirts!!!!Please tell me they are 100% cotton???
Did you now: If you exit the Vault and head left, walking parallel to the border. You'll eventually come across a Junkyard with a sentry bot and a bit of Loot. The best thing: sitting on the cars next to the entrance is a lonely fat man, waiting to be picked up!

Shoots the hell out of Dogmeat at 9:48, LMAO! Great vids though, VERY helpful! Even after 300 hours of game play you are showing me stuff I have not found yet. GOOD JOB!
I love your vids because you actually just play the game to show things. Other guides and stuff are like a PowerPoint presentation that just has some clips in the background that may or may not pertain to the topic. But this type of video gives off the feeling of an older brother explaining to me how to beat a level in an old Metroidvania.
At the robot disposal junkyard, north east of Sanctuary, you can get three fusion cores. It implies reactivating the Sentinel but if you saved minigun ammo in concord (kill the raiders with melee weapons, kill the deathclaw with enough accuracy to end it with around half of your starting ammo), you can go to the junkyard after repairing your t45, go to the terminal, and before attacking the sentinel find a neat spot on top of cars so the Sentinel doesn't ram into you
Pro tip; don't use or craft stimpaks early on in the game unless you're crippled, because they always restore only 30% of your health (without perks), and because your health increases as you level, it makes more sense while your health bar is still relatively low to not waste stimpaks, and just to eat/drink instead as it restores more health most of the time, and those items are far more common than stimpaks.
+DrunkstepChicken 656 7 times, damn. Here I am, on my second save. Played as a sniper on my first save, and now here I am, playing a melee character. Is it worth it, making 7 different characters?
Just want to add, there is an other safe in Sanctuary that has meds. Also, you do bit need to pick the safes. You can actually enter workshop and scrap the safes then the things in them will go into the workshop for you to loot.
One thing you missed in the video is another bag with some ammo and a double barrel shotgun. It's on top of the house with the cellar. you'll notice a fallen over tree that you can use to walk up on top of the roof. (:
It is very easy to complain about Bethesda, but one thing they did very well was to populate the areas adjacent to Sanctuary with insects, mole rats, & raiders. These three types help prepare a new player for the various enemies found in the Commonwealth. The raiders acclimate the new player to humanoid enemies, the insects (bloatflies & bloodbugs) get a player used to creatures which use both a ranged & a melee attack. The mole rats are of course the precursors to radscorpions (& in some ways synths). They teach a player to deal with teleporting enemies. I don't say it often, but...well done, Bethesda. I began playing this game for the first time a few months ago & am surprised at all the things they actually got right.
This is literally the video for me as I always buy a game like this 2 weeks or more after release and then know all the tricks for the start :P Thanks for bothering to put this out. I would suggest though that you loot everything out of the cave etc. before heading out to another area (just if you do this in your own game not in a showing of these different locations)
+ESO - Fallout & Elder Scrolls Guides I think that your game is glitched because you collected a lot of .44 rounds before you go t the pistol but you still only had 5 rounds.
+Dark Circle .44 rounds are never a common item ...im level 51 i never use .44 and i still only have 400 or so rounds while i have like 3000 .45s and i use those pretty often...
Hey Eso loving your channel still not sure if you read older comments and still playing fallout 4 I enjoy it so starting a new character again lol watching your starter guide AGAIN. :) thanks mate
Il Duce I feel kind of lucky for being new. I loved Skyrim the first time I played it, but after a while I just got burnt out on it,which is why I decided to pick up Fallout 4 GOTY edition.
+Isaac Nearing most vault suits are very rare in Fallout 4 except for vault 81 suits because you can steal them or just kill the vault dwellers and take their suits.
slay Get the second mission from P.A.M and you have it. That is like 4 missions into the Railroad story. To "MAX" the vault suit requires like a level 31 perk IIRC. I use the Vault suits as a way to identify companions in a fight. You could get that RR perk at level 10ish, faster if you get good guns early. Once you can kill Gunners and mutants consistently the RR perk is there to take.
When existing sanctuary from the bridge, you can also go right, instead of left and follow the shoreline, You will see an army tank/truck with irradiated barrels, there you will find a army helmet with 10 defense and a medical supply cache. Good for survival Literally right in the beginning
Any effort to help players is appreciated. However your start is one of a few general paths prior to helping Preston. Had you gone west towards the map border, similar discoveries would occur.
+avidgamer No they wouldent, youd miss the power armor, snub nose .44, hidden chests etc. While their is loot to the west its nowhere near as good. How do i know this? I tested it before making this video, while yes their is some useful stuff its not as useful by a long way.
The first thing I do when I start the game is go straight to diamond city and let the guards die when they go against super mutants their armor over the vault suit is gray early game armor
You missed the duffle bag on top of the same house that has the underground that has the underground shelter; it just takes running/walking up the tree and walking to the far side of the roof.
Did you guys also know, when those mole rats go into those lil' holes and pop up elsewhere? Well if your quick enough you can just run up to the hole and shoot it, and the molerat pops up from the hole, and takes damage.
+Vinnizius1 ESO i was thinking about making this video in portuguese, i "copy" your tips and i myself make the tutorial video, telling it was from here ur channel, what do u think? Maybe it´d be very cool.
+ESO - Fallout & Elder Scrolls Guides I know this is off topic but after you get your degree at uni will you make a building house guide in skyrim if you haven't made one plz...?
+ESO - Fallout & Elder Scrolls Guides agreed! I will contact you when it is finished =D it´s a small channel, though i can help a lot with your tips. Best regards from Brazil!
Only on my 5th playthrough I saw the combat knife on top of the damaged computer around 1:30. Used it to easily kill the radroach at Sanctuary, saving ammo because it's quite hard to aiming with weapon in Ps4 without VATS
I buy the overseers guardian on my way to diamond city. One of the best starter weapons. The cryolater is a nice weapon too, but i always forget about it.
+BaronVonPwn Agreed, i also feel like it was a little dumbed down in favour of a larger audience. It is still a good game but for me it was close to losing part of what made it such an in depth rpg.
I HAVE THE BEST TIP EVER! Ok so find diamond city and then find something called swans pond (if you’re at the valentine mission you should see it) you have to do this while it’s day too so keep that in mind Anyways after finding swans pond there is a looting pile in the middle of the pond so go and loot it and you will get a weapon called swans wrath It’s very good for starting and it’s very easy to get (Also if the loot box thing doesn’t come up just punch/shoot the loot pile and you will be able to loot it)
Also head to the Robot Disposal Yard, you can get three Fusion Cores there, especially when don’t want to bother to hack the terminal in Concord to get that single Fusion Core.
(Spoilers) Thank you for posting. I think this is a good video for those that have started the game before, but want to start it again with some nice early game loot. I can't believe I never found the root cellar, considering how much time I've spent in Sanctuary. Also, the floor vault. I agree that Dogmeat is the least judgmental companion, and cute, too. I like when he finds loot for me. I think that some containers outside of a settlement may respawn loot at intervals. I don't know how many times I've looted that dead raider near the bridge in Sanctuary. The mole rat cave near Red Rocket is also a great area to explore. That .44 pistol is pretty awesome; too bad .44 ammo is rare, especially early in the game.
If you have zero intention to engage with the settlement system I recommend doing this before leaving sanctuary. Scrap everything made of wood then sleep in a bed, then keep crafting fence posts scraping them and crafting them again. You can cheese the leveling system and possibly get to level 10 before leaving sanctuary.
I know I'm a bit late, but I got this game for Christmas in 2016, played it like twice and haven't played since. I heard about fallout 76 and I really felt like I should learn fallout 4 a little. Thanks for the video man, even if it's 2 years later, can't wait to start back up!
I like your video just because of how you described Dogmeat's swimming technique. Everything else was super helpful also, but thanks for the laugh. It honestly made me laugh out loud.
Two years old amd I'm still learning new things, thx to your vids I've become a wasteland connoisseur if you will, I also have learned quite a bit about Skyrim. It's two years late but thanks a million m8
I believe if you go right from the end of the bridge in sactuary, take a right from the dog and the dead guy, in the trees is a safe with a missing door with i think some ammo and like 3 stimpacks
Poor Cogs “ sir was it something I said “. Shame ignoring the poor robot he has waited 210 years to be exact for your return lol. lock picking on this game is the same as on RDR2. That helped me a lot with the locks.
You need to make sure people understand that every playthrough is different. You cant just loot a random container and say, "oh theres a rifle here. Grab that." Most containers will have random items in them. It is also based on a few factors such as character level, difficulty, perks, and special attributes. There are special locations and enemies that have specific items but a lot of it is random. Many containers actually respawn random items over time as well. For example, you can loot cashiers for pre-war money and return after a few days and get more.
You really do need to search every inch of the floor, room and container in the fallout games! Ive spent a lot of hours in sanctuary and never found that basement celler! Its so easy to miss things especially as the stuff is so small
+Nasarex The Tire Iron lying in the road by the first dead bodies / Sanctuary bridge is also better than fists ... and better than a shitty switchblade :)
Just started the game today. I started once back in like 2015 i think it was and somehow got bored. But i know this has to be the perfect campaign for me cuz i loved skyrim and a bunch of other campaign focused games and fallout 4 ive never seen a bad review honestly.
I believe you missed a duffel bag on top of the roof of the building that has the root cellar. It has nothing special in it, but it's got some more ammo and caps. I think another pipe pistol. Pretty standard.

-When you get dogmeat, go down the vault again and go in the overseer's office. Putt dogmeat in there and tell him to search objects. He will give you the cryolator.

How could you not notice your health went way down because of the Bloatflys in Sanctuary? lol
+wilhelmrk Glad it was helpful!
+ESO - Fallout & Elder Scrolls Guides
I think that your game is glitched because you collected a lot of .44 rounds before you go t the pistol but you still only had 5 rounds.
+Dark Circle He got .45's
+Dark Circle .44 rounds are never a common item ...im level 51 i never use .44 and i still only have 400 or so rounds while i have like 3000 .45s and i use those pretty often...
2 weeks? how about 2 years
Hey Eso loving your channel still not sure if you read older comments and still playing fallout 4 I enjoy it so starting a new character again lol watching your starter guide AGAIN. :) thanks mate
Adam Thompson IKR, I'm starting a new game right now, thx for the tips ESO
Il Duce I feel kind of lucky for being new. I loved Skyrim the first time I played it, but after a while I just got burnt out on it,which is why I decided to pick up Fallout 4 GOTY edition.
10:09 omg i was laughing so hard..... he lost his health from the bloatfly and just now noticed.
really good guide. thanks man.
I was locked up for 4 years and missed this, thanks for a great intro and advice!!!
how could you drop that vault suit. vault suits are like diamonds.
why?
+Isaac Nearing most vault suits are very rare in Fallout 4 except for vault 81 suits because you can steal them or just kill the vault dwellers and take their suits.
+Faris Othman There is an armored clothing perk you get via the Railroad which males them useless.
+AKlover but not in the beginning
slay Get the second mission from P.A.M and you have it.
+ESO - Fallout & Elder Scrolls Guides u should add me on xbox one bruh
PC GAMING MASTER RACE
Fuck you, you are reason people don't switch, because you represent a bad image of the PC gaming community.
I thought you said your parents won't let you have a computer...
The first thing I do when I start the game is go straight to diamond city and let the guards die when they go against super mutants their armor over the vault suit is gray early game armor
I preety sure the vault-tec rep used the cellar, not 100% sure though.
Makes sense cause the vault tec rep is alive after the bombs dropped. He is a ghoul in Goodneighbour
No, that was just bad writing, he survived the initial explosion but was exposed to a surplus of radiation, but not enough to turn feral.
Enclave Soldier yea it is
"move out my way please" to dogmeat, story of my gaming life there :P
why didnt you go back to the vault with dog meat and he can grab the gun that's in there? its very useful!
It's been patched a long time ago it was one of the first patches XD
I done it the other day on xbox
+dragonmasterv I did it last week on my ps4
Because you only get about 40 rounds with it.
CelestialVulpes you get 230
Yea 2 things, I don't have a pistol and do not have Bobby pins in the beginning to kill those flies and lockpick that safe
You missed the duffle bag on top of the same house that has the underground that has the underground shelter; it just takes running/walking up the tree and walking to the far side of the roof.
thanks. can't wait to play this game, after skyrim that is. I am about half done with it, lol.
Did you guys also know, when those mole rats go into those lil' holes and pop up elsewhere? Well if your quick enough you can just run up to the hole and shoot it, and the molerat pops up from the hole, and takes damage.
3:58 *note* i think the gold bars value will variate depending on your charisma level, and also you can duplicate the SPECIAL book by using dog meat
Excellent job bro!
+Vinnizius1 ESO i was thinking about making this video in portuguese, i "copy" your tips and i myself make the tutorial video, telling it was from here ur channel, what do u think? Maybe it´d be very cool.
+Vinnizius1 That would be ok with me considering its in another language, so long as you mention me in the video.
Best regards from Brazil!

hi
Definitely, The most helpful fallout 4 video I have seen.
I got 600 hours played and didnt know bout the cave !!!
I recently started a new game so thank you :)
Only on my 5th playthrough I saw the combat knife on top of the damaged computer around 1:30. Used it to easily kill the radroach at Sanctuary, saving ammo because it's quite hard to aiming with weapon in Ps4 without VATS
I only started playing fallout last year and I am still struggling to play the game. Your channel has helped me alot. Thank You.
I buy the overseers guardian on my way to diamond city. One of the best starter weapons. The cryolater is a nice weapon too, but i always forget about it.
The other stuff other than cigs worth taking (even in fo3) are the paper folders, basically are caps, they wort 1 cap each and are weightless
2019 but regardless of that you can actually scrap all the safes in sanctuary as long as you are allied with the settlement
Man, I watch your videos all the time. Very helpful
"Woah what is going on?" *Unloads clip into DogMeat*
though my excitement for this game has plummeted. I still want to play it. just wish it was a little more rpg than sandbox.
+BaronVonPwn Agreed, i also feel like it was a little dumbed down in favour of a larger audience. It is still a good game but for me it was close to losing part of what made it such an in depth rpg.
Glad someone else agrees, I wish they took more from the first two and new vegas
I HAVE THE BEST TIP EVER!
Ok so find diamond city and then find something called swans pond (if you’re at the valentine mission you should see it) you have to do this while it’s day too so keep that in mind
Anyways after finding swans pond there is a looting pile in the middle of the pond so go and loot it and you will get a weapon called swans wrath
It’s very good for starting and it’s very easy to get
(Also if the loot box thing doesn’t come up just punch/shoot the loot pile and you will be able to loot it)
Normal insane Gamer 🤫
starters dont swan will kill you
HEYYYYYYYYY
Out of all the fallout video's that I've seen, yours was the best! Thank yo
Sleeps 200 years wakes up sees there are no fallout 5 goes back to sleep
amazing how much can be missed in such a small area. keep up the great work.
+Albert Barbo Thanks, indeed it is its very rewarding searching through every detail in Fallout.
I've been watching so many fallout 4 vids lol
Yes
How does This spoil anything?
i agree with the loot part I told him to find loot near me and he brought me a missile launcher.
13:55; "It just works"
I know I'm a bit late, but I got this game for Christmas in 2016, played it like twice and haven't played since. I heard about fallout 76 and I really felt like I should learn fallout 4 a little. Thanks for the video man, even if it's 2 years later, can't wait to start back up!
I like your video just because of how you described Dogmeat's swimming technique. Everything else was super helpful also, but thanks for the laugh. It honestly made me laugh out loud.
…
Two years old amd I'm still learning new things, thx to your vids I've become a wasteland connoisseur if you will, I also have learned quite a bit about Skyrim. It's two years late but thanks a million m8
Hahaha ”2 years old” and already playing fallout 4, color me impressed 😂
I believe if you go right from the end of the bridge in sactuary, take a right from the dog and the dead guy, in the trees is a safe with a missing door with i think some ammo and like 3 stimpacks
K Johnson thanks! (Respond so I can look back at comment)
Meme L0rd I responded for you!
This guide actually told me alot and I've played this many times
"with some S.P.E.C.I.A.L loot"
Your HP was low before you went into the cave, and your reaction to it was hilarious.
I know a trick, if you have a hunting rifle, hip fire shoot at an enemy, melee attack said enemy, than you can shoot again very quickly
without reloading
Level 69 full base in Sanctuary and I still totally missed that Cellar! Thanks for the tips! :P
I'm playing this in 2024
I’ve played this game since it came out, never knew that theirs a bunker in sanctuary. Well done on the video and keep up great work!
Poor Cogs “ sir was it something I said “. Shame ignoring the poor robot he has waited 210 years to be exact for your return lol. lock picking on this game is the same as on RDR2. That helped me a lot with the locks.
tunnel snakes rule
Coolguy556 did old lady Palmer make it?
*spits on the sweet roll*
you gotta help my mom!
Butch lmao
You need to make sure people understand that every playthrough is different. You cant just loot a random container and say, "oh theres a rifle here. Grab that."
Most containers will have random items in them. It is also based on a few factors such as character level, difficulty, perks, and special attributes. There are special locations and enemies that have specific items but a lot of it is random. Many containers actually respawn random items over time as well. For example, you can loot cashiers for pre-war money and return after a few days and get more.
I for some reason collect teddy bears in any Fallout
SHADOWNINJA544 have you played fallout new Vegas? Big Mountain? Dala?
I've played New Vegas but I have not played though the Old World Blues DLC.
SHADOWNINJA544 Dala is relatable if you have a huge amount of teddy bears.
Oh, well i'll keep that in mind when I play Old World Blues I have like 17 or so teddy bears.
SHADOWNINJA544 GET A JUNK JET!
You really do need to search every inch of the floor, room and container in the fallout games! Ive spent a lot of hours in sanctuary and never found that basement celler! Its so easy to miss things especially as the stuff is so small
You forgot about the switchblade stuck in the monitor inside the cabin. :)
Switch blades shit
Sonny Lummes They're still better than fists, smartypants. :)
+Nasarex The Tire Iron lying in the road by the first dead bodies / Sanctuary bridge is also better than fists ... and better than a shitty switchblade :)
Yes, but the outside of the vault comes first. And he was already in that cabin to show what you could start witg there.
Nasarex Oh - when you say "Cabin," do you mean the Trailer set up just outside Vault 111?
Just started the game today. I started once back in like 2015 i think it was and somehow got bored. But i know this has to be the perfect campaign for me cuz i loved skyrim and a bunch of other campaign focused games and fallout 4 ive never seen a bad review honestly.
I believe you missed a duffel bag on top of the roof of the building that has the root cellar. It has nothing special in it, but it's got some more ammo and caps. I think another pipe pistol. Pretty standard.
Thank You. You sound like a nice chill guy. ☺
Two words
sick vid
Navjot Atwal thats four words ;)
The best part was from 9:20 to 10:10. This guy is great!
I thought the root cellar was a mod...
