Can someone explain the barbie thing to me? Preferably somebody in the quad skating world.
I think it's awesome she has a lot of fun, and enjoys it... But she doesn't really seem all that good and everyone acts like she is so good. At one point the commentator said they love her style... As she steps up to a grind, barely rolls away from a five-stair Gap (where she didn't seem comfortable with it by the way)...idk, seems like someone that just started skating and isn't super comfortable yet.
Megan Sheaffer(sp), she is SICK. She looks so much more comfortable skating, that it just seems like the Barbie girl gets so much more attention.
Maybe because she's really pretty? Which if that's the case, that's sad. Anyways, maybe I'm missing something here. Love y'all's podcast and the positivity in this growing "sport", but some things are kind of confusing as an outsider.

Megan Sheaffer is rad at skating. So is barbie. Can we talk about the real issue though? Montre Livingston gate... AKA dreadroller being told they couldn't give him 1st place cause the judges didn't want to piss off the rollerskate community. I think that's a bigger issue that needs to be addressed before next year's quad cup.

@@pouringblue7 @joey rogers yeah, the word is that an official judge told Montre he placed 1st before the official announcement, then they came back and told him they were retconning the scores so that they wouldn't have to give the 1st place to a rollerblader, which is why he made the video throwing out his medal. The actions of the judges was a prime example of gatekeeping. The judges never addressed these accusations, they only said they'd make the rules or judging guidelines public next time, which is great, but would not fix the problem, as judging is always subjective and vulnerable to corruption.
