Here's a special RC RACE WARS between my beloved ST4 and my friend's brand new HPI Trophy 4.6. This "race war" was probably a little unfair as my friend, Chris, only just bought his car and he was not totally used to it. Plus I don;t think the car was fully run-in or properly tuned during this race, so he can be forgiven for not keeping up with the ST4 and I think it's fair to assume these two will meet again in the future...
The HPI Trophy 4.6 was 100% stock.

Your mates truggy is rich as all hell, 1/4 - 1/2 a turn on the main needle and it will liven up.
nah that motor sounded kinda trashed...you could hear it losing power after it started to heat up..
warmfreeze not only that later on it sounded lean near the end and the idle sounded really low.
tyler jones nah it sounds lean but its from it heating and expanding and losing pinch and compression thus losing power. just a worn out motor..you can tell this because when he first starts it it looks and sounds rich as hell and then as he runs it a few laps it starts to sound like its leaning out and loosing compression the more he goes..i have the same engine in one of my other cars and its in about the same condition ...has plenty of compression when i first start it but after about half a tank itl stall and wont restart and has 0 compression even though its running slopping rich..

warmfreeze Everybody else is saying its running rich all across the field from beginning to end of bashing. You are saying its running lean.
Its running rich, from looking at the video ALL THE TIME.
I think that was a very close/good race between the two!! Bad I think your driving is better which is why you're won all three races but it was fun to watch!! Nice job!!!

Great vid mate. The nitro did seem a bit rich maybe, and as a result a little sluggish... Looked like u were holding back on the st4's throttle a little to me. ;) no contest really. I like both nitro and e, a more interesting race would be with a better nitro... The hpi trophy is mediocre from what I hear. My mugen mbx6 nitro would give your typhon a run for its money for example but that's because it's got a proper race motor in it! E and nitro / pros n cons. Great to have the option of both in the garage ideally! ;) keep em coming Vasco! 👍👍
That nitro will give you a run for your money with the right tune and tires!

If the HPI was turned an hour turn clockwise on the LSN it would have better acceleration on the bottom end, also its running supper, super,rich! Nice Video

Nice vid fella but we all new the st4 would win, battery against nitro no competition, now a flux trophy truggy with badlands tyers would be a race I'd love to see.

Your race wars vids are fun to watch. Maybe changing up the track a little might go a little easier on your competitors. Wish I could run my car there, but I'm literally on the other side of the planet. Your other vids are Really making want to ad a Typhon to my stable.

Good battle there Enjoyed that. It seems Vasco knows the track the best as he won all the races ;O)
Nitro sounded Ok on HSN maybe go 1/8 turn in clockwise to Lean the mixture.
But the LSN is the problem it's too rich why you got no acceleration and it stalls. It should be almost wheelieing off the line when Tuned (After break in) ..
Turn the LSN in clockwise bout 1/8 of a turn and check acceleration it should improve keep doing that till you notice a drop in performance then go back 1/8 of a turn to last setting that should be perfect then but re test HSN to check for smoke trail after setting LSN...
Same applies to tuning the HSN ..

Just a nitro question.. Why don't these companies put a start button on the transmitter, which enables a starter motor just like on full scale vehicles? Like EZ-start, but remote controlled.
Probably because honestly nitro has lost popularity. I love nitro and gas, and always will, but the majority of people prefer electric to gas. That is an outstanding idea however, and my dad has that style of system in one of his large scale gas powered rc planes.
I own a Losi tenT and it has a ROSS system on it. It's a remote starting system. It's pretty awesome. But it uses a 1000mah lipo on board for it and the reciever, so it adds a good amount of weight.. But works well. It's like a remote ez start.

mostly due to weight..the EZ start module weighs about 2 lbs with the battery..as well as the electric starter adds extra weight...personally i can't stand them..i've seen so many people eat up their engine because they had debris stuck in there and since you don't have a "feel" for what the engine is doing as if you had a pull start..you will just tear it up.

I've owned that 4.6 HPI Nitro engine and I don't think is sounded like it was tuned particularly well.
I agree mine seems to go better maybe he also wasn’t using the best fuel

HPI nitro need some better racing tires for that track smh getting his ass kick
the idle is too low, need to lean it out a little more.
Hpi is running lean on the low end and Rich on the top .. if I was driving it would eat that electric up

Aussie RC Playground Thats true.A couple weeks ago, i phoned to a shop asking info about a Kyosho nitro model, and i was shocked when they told me that Kyosho is going to abaddon nitro!WTF?

+Emmanuel Leon ruiz You are exactly what's wrong with this great hobby. That sort of attitude is not only unwelcome here, but it is a very narrow minded and bigoted one. Just because someone doesn't favour the same type of RC as you, doesn't mean you have the right to discriminate against them. There's different strokes for different folks. If you don't respect others, how do you expect others to respect you?

steveoy100 nitro is not the only side that requires tuning. Suspension, gearing, proper tires, all require tuning with nitro & electric, unless you just have someone tell you what to do when most serious R/C HOBBYIST take the time to dial their R/C's in on their own

+Sheikh Hassan Car was new at the time and was still being run in.
But all that doesn't matter now because a few weeks after this video was shot the throttle servo got stuck on full throttle and the car smashed into a parked car at full speed and died. There was barely anything left of it - completely destroyed.
+Aussie RC Playground battries probably ran out causing the throttle to stuck....any way real nice vidoes...keep it up!!!
+Sheikh Hassan Actually, it wasn't the batteries... My friend (who owned the car) was changing the throttle servo and decided to test it to see how it was running. He ran the car for a minute or two, but he forgot to put the screw on the servo horn and the horn came of, leaving the throttle stuck on full (unfortunate timing). In a panic, he lost control of the car and it slammed into a parked car or fence or something... He told me there wasn't anything left of it that would warrant a rebuild, so he salvaged what he could and just threw the rest of it out.
