From the Album "Songs Of Weddings", which featured 5 songs from Rajdai Sookraj & 5 songs from Sam Boodram. This song titled "Kaha Se Awayla Bhavani Maiya" is a Sohar which tells of the birth of a blessed baby in the home.
Samdeo 'Sam' Boodram was born in Aranguez in 1933 to the late Babonie and Boodram Balroop. Sam and his parents relocated to Cumuto when he was just ten years old. He attended the Bal Maharaj Hindu School where he learned Hindustani and was introduced to Indian singing as part of a program sponsored by Chanka Maharaj. After winning a school competition at the age of 10, Boodram's interest in singing and music began. After some time had passed, he met the late Ramcharitar, who became his guru. He had the opportunity to learn from well known and respected singers at the time such as Pt. Ramkissoon Maharaj, Benny Sewnath, Bel Bagai, and Hardeo. Throughout the course of his career, he has recorded over 6000 songs. Sam Boodram is revered by many as the king of traditional chutney. His legacy shall live on through his songs.
