Whoever wrote that scene is a genius. Every time I watch it I get chills, there is just something about the electric violin that is hypnotic and encompasses the Eighties. I was just a kid when this movie came out, but never forgot this song and how catchy it is. We need more bands today that experiment with electric violins, bands that have the courage to bring back the synths/guitar combo of 80’s rock.

When I first saw this movie back in the 80’s, I was maybe 11. I had NO idea wtf he meant lol. Many years later when I saw it again, it hit me and I busted out laughing 😆

    • @EnglishTeacher1998

The visual joke is compounded by the fact that Larry B. Scott, the actor who plays Lamar, is clearly extremely athletic, muscular -- totally cut. I have no doubt he could throw a javelin across the whole campus, with no help from Wormser.

Wiki says they were $1,195 new in 1983. im not sure if that's adjusted for inflation but, i only bought used ones and parts anyway. if its not adjusted that's $3012.23! A current car down payment! lol-- I miss that boom bap! The best of producers are sitting on them! Cam Vaillancourt its not a CR8000, it's the CR5000 (The preset auto arrangement buttons are the give away, the 8000 has more including a "shuffle" at the end after the "conga" preset rhythms. Minus a few features they aee essentially the same thing, basically compu rhythm's based on the Tr808s synthesis architecture but with non editable sounds.

Redacted Free Press I miss when Tr808's could be bought for around $300 (this was when the original ms20, arp 2600, juno 60, minimoog, SP1200 and VCS3 could all be had for under a grand as well). Could buy them from rogue music, they had adverts in the back of keyboard magazine thoughout the 80s/90s. Glad I still have a alot of good vintage analogs but, I will be the first to admit I would be hard pressed to afford most of it at today's prices.

In the 80’s misfits were a departure from the slasher move kids of the late 70’s and early 80’s. They showed us that being different wasn’t a curse that our differences helped us understand each other’s similarities. Relating to one another was how we would survive our world and in the end we are all Nerds
