Awesome bike. It's the king of folders. I've had one for 3 years..and haven't had to do any maintanance work on it. And have only change the tires 4 times in 3.5 years. Love it. And its surprisingly fast for its weight. No problem getting over 20mph on it. You float on it..And it takes hills really well. And it's so comfortable.
Thanks for this review. The best so far on this model. I'm looking to replace my Tern link P7i with this model, mainly because of this low maintenance (belt, internal hub and disk brake) and also mainly because of potholes ! The smaller tires of the P7i are nice to ride fast but not very smooth on uneven roads. What about the disk brakes ? Are they powerful but easy to brake with (not on/off as certain type of brakes ?). Thanks.
I dont mean to be offtopic but does anyone know a trick to log back into an Instagram account..? I somehow forgot my password. I would love any tricks you can give me!
@Winston Tripp I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and im trying it out now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
I just got the Tern Link D7i...similar components, not as high end, $950.00. It's very nice! I've had it a week and have already made it my good-weather mode of transportation to work and back. I'm sure I'll be doing a lot of purely leisure riding as the summer months lay before us.
I have a Rohloff on another bike. If I used the s8i to tour, could the Rohloff be swapped to the Tern? Or would I be better off with the Verge Tour, which was originally designed specifically for the Rohloff?
I picked up the Verge Tour recently. One of the hills on my daily commute is a 14% grade. I drop into granny gear and never break a sweat getting to the top. I never even have to get off the saddle.
Any issues with the joints? Tern has a record of some very bad frame failures. I really love this concept, and would consider a Tern over a similarly-built Bike Friday if I thought the frames were reliable. Then again, if I'm paying so much anyway, maybe a BF or Brompton would be a better option regardless.
No problems with any current Tern bikes. They've addressed the issue in their manufacturing in the past and all their frames are top quality when it comes to durability and weight.
I guess we left that bit out! They stop very well, little pressure is needed to get good stopping power from these mechanical disc brakes. There's quality components all around on this bike. - Connor
Worth every penny. I've had mine for 3.5 years. Got over 40,000 miles on it. And its saved me over £6,000 in travel expense. The only thing I've had to do is change the tires 4 times. It's simply AMAZING.

*Nice and easy to fold and unfold. I like the **Latest.Bike** of it components and so far it rides pretty well in pavement-ed trails*

+Robert Cook The Link D7i is definitely a great low cost alternative with a similar concept. Enjoy the rides! - Connor

You'd be better off with the Verge Tour, which has 27 gears and specifically designed for the long haul rides. This bike is more geared for commuting.
Kinda what I figured, I'm just not familiar with the DD3 on the Tour. Thanks!
gear ratio of verge tour is only ok...22 is not good enough for steep hill.
you could ride up a wall with 22 gear inches >_

NYCeWheels Thank you very much!
@@nycewheels does this still hold up today? also how much harder is this to ride then an e bike, I never rode one
You're bold riding in the city traffic with a selfie stick. I would use a GoPro and either helmet or handle bar mount it. Great review though
+rpmbxdj I live life on the edge :^), and thanks! - Connor
Conner, what is the step over height on this bike?
How many teeth in the crankset?
Hi, what height are you?
You ignored the disc brakes, how are they?

NYCeWheels The disc brakes are hydraulic? And wow, that was a quick response!
Yes they are Shimano Deore hydraulic disc brakes.

Tern is collaborating with Bosch to make a folding E-bike. More info is available on their website.
