Wow, you just affirmed the way I have been living for the past 3 years- ever since I came out of a disastrous relationship, I've been refusing to date, and since then, I've been slowly regaining my peace and poise. You are absolutely right, NOT dating, keeps life more or less peaceful. Nothing is more upsetting than wondering if the guy you are with is lying, or not valuing us for who we are. ( Everyone of us deserve the best!). So thank you for affirming that in your super funny, charming, and brilliant way!

My life has done a 180 for the better since I stopped wasting my time on dusty men. Now I have a wonderful dog, a new career that is the perfect fit for me, and a few close girl friends. I’m so content and feel more loved than I ever did with a man.
Life is so peaceful, so bright, and so open with opportunities when you say no to being a placeholder for a man who can’t even wipe his ass properly. I identify as asexual now.
I no longer want prince charming on a white horse… I just want the horse, and a farm, maybe some chickens.
I love focusing all my mental and physical energy on me, my loved ones, and my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy my own company and I love that you do the same. Thank you for always reminding the stampede where their priorities should lie.

It’s almost like I wrote this myself. Sometimes I wonder if I’m even attracted to anyone LOL. I genuinely never cared once I focused on myself and had my own goals. You have to be fulfilled on your own first.

@@KellyStamps Same! I’m 26, the men our age do not have their lives together and don’t want marriage anyways. Plus the more I spend time on my hobbies and grow as a person, the more I’m disappointed with how one dimensional, predictable, and unremarkable men are.
Why would I let you into my rich life, when you can’t even take care of your basic hygienic needs? If I ever get married, I want a teammate, not a man child. If I find a man I click with who can add something to my life, maybe Ill reconsider, but I genuinely don’t know if I’m even attracted to men at all.

I can tell when a woman's primary concern is money and to be financially secure. It's one of the biggest red flags, and I lose the urge to date her, because she isn't actually focused on the man in front of her, so she won't be able to actually appreciate and value him. Especially not with all of these ulterior motives in mind.

the amount of people who have no clue how to live life outside of sleeping with someone or dating is alarming. like instead of investing your body and emotions into someone temporary why not find out who YOU are, fix your demons, learn how to truly love my goodness. love professor stamps. she gets it.

I’m a freshman in college and I feel weird not having a crush on anyone as I see my friends starting to date. But to be honest I think it’s been better not rushing into dating anyone and having people in my life that don’t align my own values. Also the fact that many college students aren’t working on improving themselves and just focused on getting through their work

What happened in your life? Where there early signs or was it more the case that you were also putting yourself in the role of hoping for stability to the union you formed? I’m asking because it’s something I am questioning about myself.

I love the idea of celibacy and not being dictated by a man who saw me as a placeholder only to get screamed at if I’m too busy working on myself and not answering text messages. Nope I cut him off real quick. I am happy that I made this decision to not date and to become celibate for as long as I can. Besides wasting my precious time on somebody’s son. Often times, I was always made to believe that I should date and be in a relationship. Thank you Kelly for validating my point when it comes to the dating world 🌎

Definitely don’t care about the the super bowl lol, but I agree with you. Going celibate for yourself (not just a religious reason) helps you achieve so much more in life. There’s so much time to date and be sexual take your time. I also loved how you talked going to elevated but everyday spaces to increase your network. I’ve been thinking about going to the Capitol Grille here in Philly for awhile now. I hadn’t been there in years but that’s definitely where the high class eat.

Be more than eye candy to someone in a relationship, be ‘soul food’. I’m not gonna be an appetizer anymore! I have been a placeholder and accepted it because I was lonely but I find more enjoyment and feel less lonely when I reach out to my friends. Kelly you nailed it, we do use relationships as sounding boards. Friendships and the community they usually bring are fulfilling and time consuming enough.

I get soooo many more things accomplished. As soon as he comes around my whole life gets thrown off track. It's a terrible cycle!!! It takes time away from working on yourself and wasting energy on the wrong things...!!! 😩 Relationships require attention... Attention away from yourself and away from your own personal progress and growth!!!

Omg! I totally agree with dating for the right reasons. That’s been my life philosophy. I started dating relatively recently and it was when I found myself in a stable place in life. As a teenager and young adult, my family thought of me as the weird one because I didn’t see the point on dating when I was not ready for marriage. However, if I could go back in time I’d do it all over again. I kept myself from a lot of heartache and unnecessary drama. I know there’s a part of me that’s now underdeveloped as a consequence. But I have the rest of my life to remedy that and from a healthy and stable place 🙂.

I especially agree with the no dating part, just got out of a 1 year relationship and it was a decent loving one, but i do realized that I slowly became too compromiseable in order to make the relationship upbeat and "working" and I deeply don't like myself like this at all. It's just consuming so much energy of me and the breakup is ultimately affect my mental health for a quite some time. At least stay single for now is essential to regain my peace and power
