Metal has many icons and legends but there is only one King Diamond. Mercyful Fate's rhythm section was criminally underrated back in the day. Kim Ruzz was one of the best drummers I ever heard and in his era. -l- Desecration Of Souls -l- \mm/
Kim and clive burr. Actually. Soo many amazing musicians from that time. Elp. King crimson. The list just doesent end. And its a crying shame the when these radio stations do them bracket contests, they never go off format and include the really great bands. And ofcourse. Youll NEVER hear any iron maiden song other than run to the hills on the radio.

Yeah it's not bad. The melodies are really cool. Keeps hitting the same high note a lot. Lots of energy. Having a little issue with English there at "I saw my soul, in a magical haze

That guitar tone. The high energy riffs. There's still enough "rock" to keep it propulsive. Great song! Thank you for sharing it!

one of my fav bands.I discovered them back in 84.Don't break the oath.I played that record every day...More then once a day.I still have that copy on the green label combat records.And i have a copy still sealed.And on cassette tape and cd....yep...MF forever.
Man I still have a copies of the green labels of Melissa and the Oath and some colored represses. But the green labels take me back to the days of discovery of the world of metal and living in the Bay Area in the 80's , good times.

I seen their 1st show in the U.S. in Portland, Or. At the Starry Nite. Just amazing! I had never heard them or seen anything about them, my friends said I had to go so I went and let me say it was a lot to take in all at once at 18 years old! I'll never forget it!
Progressive Metal before there was even progressive metal.
I think I counted 22 riffs on "The Oath". And it's brilliant how they seamlessly fit all those riffs together.
This also has a "pre-thrash" sound to it. Can definitely hear how Metallica was influenced by these guys.
Dark. Heavy. Loud. Fast. Although completely clean and melodic. True, true metal!

Some years ago a friend said he had a VHS with a Brats concert from 1981 with King Diamond on vocals (my friend's band was playing the same night). Seemed like he couldn't find the tape though.

According to Denner, King is pissed at him over Denner/Sherman's album cover but considering Hank's still in the band there is obviously more going on. The only reunion going on here is reactivating Mercyful's last lineup but refusing to play that lineup's material.................IT'S A CASH GRAB
@Austin supposedly All they will be playing is material from the e.p. - Don't Break The Oath & a couple new songs written in the same vein. Don't make any sense, it's not a reunion.
