    I recently bought a Tusk dry duffel bag. Extremely impressed with the quality.

      I started looking at their soft pannier bags. I like how thoughtout they seem to be with good quality. Tusk will be my first choice for luggage when I need something. Cheers.

    Hi Matt, after watching one of your previous vids where you mention this tank bag, I pulled the trigger on one. Despite having to pay for postage from the US and quite heavy import duties, I still went ahead with the purchase. It’s still works out to be better value than the crap we have here in the uk! I’m hoping it arrives in the next week or so?
    This more in-depth video confirms what I already thought, it looks a fabulous product and exactly what I was looking for.

      Hi Matt, just a quick update to say.... my Tusk Tank Bag (Lge) arrived on my doorstep here in the UK this afternoon. To say I’m thrilled with it would be an understatement buddy! Thanks so much for bringing it to my attention pal. 👍

    Another Great review!! These companies REALLY need to add you to their payroll! This is exactly what I'm looking for! Just waiting for them to come in stock & I will have mine! Can you show where you put the mounting straps? Thank you for real assessments of gear, it is genuinely appreciated! Hey, can we be friends?! LOL!

      The front strap goes around the head and I just found a location on the frame slightly back from the bag to mount the rear straps.

    Dang, wish I would have seen this before buying the Nelson-Rigg Trails End ADV tank bag. I think you pointed out a couple of things that make the Tusk more usable and at the same price. Oh well, think I can steal some of your hacks to improve the Nelson.

    Great information. Appreciate all the videos. I'm debating on getting the spoke wheels for my 390 but honestly I ride my bike on the rocky trails in Colorado and nothing has happened to the cast wheels. Last weekend I intentionally rode faster on these rocky trails than I really intend to just to see if they would deform - nearly 40mph bike jumping and hitting some good size rocks. Still absolutely true. I did not lower the street tire pressures. I'm of the mind now I won't replace the wheels with wire spoke ones unless I do damage one. I'm also liking the tubeless tires and the advantages of making quick repairs. I'd lose that with the wire ones. What are your thoughts from your experiences?

    • @advmatt
      @advmatt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am with you, so far the cast wheels have held up to rocky riding. I will likely go to spoke wheels in the future but I am going to convert them to tubeless. It's pretty easy to do and well worth it. I converted the wheels on my F800GS and it was easy. For now, its cast wheels.

    • @gpnmoab1
      @gpnmoab1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@advmatt good news. I wasn't aware they could be converted. That has been my only sticking point for not buying them. Thanks Matt. I appreciate all the time you put into these videos.

    I also bought one for my 390 after watching this video. Have not installed yet as its winter here in NE. Have you found that the mounting straps rub the paint off the frame? Not sure how tough KTM India frame paint/powder coating is.

    • @advmatt
      @advmatt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I havent had any issues with the paint rubbing. I put some clear tape on the plastic where the straps come across to prevent it from scratching the plastics. The frame looks fine. The straps dont move around.

    I just wanted to order mine for my 390 to get shipped to the Philippines 🇵🇭, crap that is $60 just for shipping- bummer

    I’m hesitating between this and the giant loop, what I don’t like about this bag is the harness. If your are like me and have multiple motorcycle and want to easily switch the bag between bike the harness will flap around if you ride without the bag but with the harness on. Also it feel like the giant loop you don’t have to re-adjust the harness once setup correctly.
    The price difference is huge.

    • @advmatt
      @advmatt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I understand your hesitation. You can buy three of these for the price of one Giant Loop tank bag. Maybe buy two, problem solved and you still save money over Giant Loop.

    I noticed the 3-port power adapter you have. Does the 390 Adventure come with an electrical utility outlet stock, or did you have to add something to be able to hook up electronic devices?

    • @advmatt
      @advmatt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It comes stock with a 12v outlet for US standard 12v devices. It is not the smaller European plug you get on BMWs.

    Currently, the large (12x8hx8w) bag is 8 litres, and the small (11x7hx6.5w) is 6 litres? You refer to your model as the large size, which I think is the previous version. Do you think the current large would be too big for the 390? I think I read in the comments that you sent it back for warranty (?) - has it been replaced or are you using something else now? Thanks

    • @advmatt
      @advmatt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I received the bag back under warranty. I am still using it and liking it. The new large size is only 1/2 a liter bigger. It will be fine on the 390.

  • @tomg6284

    Matt, what is the power output of the alternator?
    I have been looking for that info but no luck.
    Heated gear you must know the load factor.

    • @advmatt
      @advmatt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have to admit I don't know either. I have looked everywhere as well to find the specifications but have had no luck. My best guess is around 300 watts, but that is a guess. My heated gear has not been an issue for the bike so far. I need to do some calculations for the added heated grips I am installing soon.
