SU brings out the best in any band it takes on for example JSU only performs well doing the boombox classic and after that they trash. TSU will be there thinking they got the W but that's not the case man
Man, is this is where SU is STARTING, I can't even imagine what they sound like in November. They already are the best sounding band I've heard from anyone so far this season. Definitely the most powerful. Whole damn band sounds like they have a point to prove to be honest with you. I haven't heard a weak section yet.

I wish this matchup could happen more often. A fifth between these two would be 🔥🔥🔥. Tennessee State sounds good but the arrangements don't hold a candle to Southern. But I still wish these saw each other more. TNSU has put it on jsu the last few meets

Also JSU seems to get better as a season progresses but they see tnsu early in the season. 2015 and 2016 I think TNSU was better by a small nudge. 2017 I think the gap was wider because TNSU was huge and had power and balance for days. Unfortunately they didn't meet last year but I think the boom would of won that one. This year is hard to call. I like TNSU new found aggression yet JSU sound and balance has cleaned up a lot

The juke was without a doubt the most powerful and balanced band there. SU definitely had the best arrangements and the second best Field show as a band, the Dolls had the best Field performance for dancers. Tennessee State had the best Field show from what i saw. I expected more from FAMU on the field.
I’m be been saying this for years. Even tho The A.O.B. And SU have a rich and RESPECTED rivalry, it’s too far between when they actually meet. TnSU and SU need their own classic. Period!!!! The events and atmosphere around the bayou classic and southern heritage classic keep those engaging but the band battles have fallen off a bit. This classic would generate thunder in the HBCU world. And has proven to generate $$$

Events can get boring QUICK so sometimes you need a band that will push some straight heat to wake everybody up. But you gotta come with something else tho when another band can demand just as much attention. Im not sayin southern sound terrible at all but right here in this clip I like TSU better.
Speaking as a former member of the Jukebox and a Sinfonian, Tennessee State always had a nice sound. Back in the day we would party together after the games in Baton Rouge and Nashville. Now about this battle......once the Jukebox played the intro to the 2nd song Tenn State should have packed up and hit the bus back to Nashville.

I'm an SU alum. Tennessee St is about their businesses. Always has been. I marched against them way way back in 1985. They were solid then. On the other hand, you know our history as well. We'll let the present speak for itself. We're built for this bro. Our sound, drills and overall performances speaks for itself. We're fine in our own skin. No need to fret.

Same with Texas Southern, Famu, Norfolk St, NSU, Bethune, Prairie View, and some others. But as a Juke, I have zero respect for copycat bands that are too lazy to build a band with it's own identity. The easy way out is to copy and transform over time into the carbon copy of a band they so admire. We all know the bands I'm speaking of, and it's a damn shame to build your reputation trying to become the best by becoming them.
