Honestly, if you enjoyed the first, you might not like this one. It's significantly easier, and has quite a few less options than the original. It's a rough transition. If you haven't played the first though, you decide. It might be worth it.
Yeah, this needs to be pinned honestly lol its definitely not a bad game by any means, but the reason that it has the current reception on steam that it has(54%) is because it really lost AT LEAST half of what made the original great, especially for its time.
I was hoping for a lot more as well. WoL sits at the top of my list of favorite roguelikes and this one just doesn't measure up. The combat is nowhere near as snappy and so many of the items are so hyper specific that they are just useless more times times than they are useful.
looked at the first one and now this. the first Wizard of Legend appeals to me alot more. the 2nd one looks like it's trying to appeal to the masses more and deviating from their style. too bad, i'm going with the first one
I'm really glad to see where you are. I remember watching you in your dauntless days as I WAS a big fan of the game until it felt dead from the prestige system and series of failures in updates. I'm so happy to see you cover more content and spread what you truly enjoy with us, without having to feel shackled by your old fans. Thank you for keeping it real.
I was a huge fan of the first game and it had a charming art style and music. I was worried the transition of the art style for this new game not going over well, but it looks pretty good and they changed the combat to fit the new overhead style really well. I'm looking forward to getting into this game and hope it's as hard as the first game was. Also the last element is likely chaos like the first game.
Yeah I am slightly worried about the art style, just because I loved the feel of the original, but I've been playing inkbound and that helped me warm up to the art a bit.
Its nothing like the first. They completely changed the formula and it's a shitty rip-off of Hades. The new developers saw that there was a market for 3D roguelikes and then completely threw their brains away when actually making WoL2 instead of just improving upon the first game and what it did right.
I haven't got it yet, but "The Steam Valve podcast was convincing I should try it. The $25 hurdle for a game that seems like it isn't well reviewed yet hits hard. I'm hopeful it gets better.
Impressive builds Lightning Conductor relic Freeze and lightning. Azhi Dahaka's Eye relic with new dragon arcana Flame breath, Dragon Defense and Breakers of tiamat. Tips in the hub. buy Trial funds from Nazradin for 100 coins during your run. Save up atleast 180 chaos gems then Choose one arcana, relic and medallion(robe at the mirror I recommend Awe for crits or Fury for Signatures).
As a huge fan of the first game, I genuinely love the direction they took with this. Keeping the creativity and variety of runs while making it more accessible. A lot of the time the first game felt punishing just to be punishing, with stun times and enemy attacks feeling instant and unreactable. By making the game remodeled it makes it more accessible and rewarding to play rather than the absolute storm of punishment one mistake gives you in the first game.
if its anything like the first game the purple element is chaos, in 1 you had to beat the game to unlock one chaos spell and they were essentially imba on purpose for that reason
If you played the first you CANNOT come into this biased. But I can understand the criticism. There's not enough Chaos. 1 was so damn fast how fast they react and how easily you can die from the beginning. If you're a hardcore player this will not be for you. But if you simply love the franchise and you wouldn't mind so much. The only thing holding you back is its price especially outside of US.
Mixed reviews on steam currently. Core complaints seem to fall into 2 groups really.. 1. people played the first game and feel like it's not a worthy successor for whatever reasons. Like the gameplay not being as fast paced? Invalid if you like what you see and didnt play part 1. 2. Bugs. Potentially run- or even gamebreaking ones, like losing your savegame. I love how the game looks. Would not get it without coop.. but that seems to be right up our alley. That said, reason 2 is a pretty big one.. i hope they iron out the issues. We will probably buy it on a sale then, or just when bored. For an early access with not a ton of content yet, even if the game looks great, 25 bucks seems a tad steep tbh.
Really liked the first one, thought it was a surprise hit among me and friends. What I hope has evolved from the first are bosses getting mix-ups in their attacks. First game, once you seen how a boss does an attack and figured it out, you knew what you were in for each time. Instead of 1-2-3 type attack, give me 1-2- ah ha you rolled idiot-3-4 and keep me on my toes ala elden ring mix ups
It's alright honestly but I like the combat of the first game a lot more it's way more fast paced and the enemy variety is far greater and they actually get more dangerous like the enemies in the lighting area of the first game for example eventually get to the point where they have lighting based spells and attacks. This doesn't have any of that aside from that it lacks the charm/personality of the first game with the talking chests and wardrobe, and the game is way to easy etc. And they removed all the dash arcana and made them into relics bad move.
Oh! I didn't even know a second one was out! I remember the all the times I would play with my friend on his switch. Perhaps it's time to pick up the second one... 😁

It was different for me. I really enjoyed the first. And I enjoyed this one too.
@@TrungTH1190 congrats, you're the minority lol
@@Excallius243 yup, people are being to harsh. Most of the criticisms aren’t the ones that I have. And I am a hardcore Wizard of Legend 1 player.

I didn’t know they made a second one! Loved the first one I will have to check this out. Take your like

I lost 20 hours of save data to a bug.. I'd say unless you want to lose everything, it probably isnt worth picking up at the moment.

Soundtrack in the 1st game slapped. Hope it comes to switch.
Hey Dough, have MMORPG’s ever caught your attention or just not your style?
Roughly 1/6 of the amount of spells compared to the first game
And it's been out for less than 1% of the time. Did you expect them to release early access with a complete game?
I loved the first game so much so I'll love this one too

I was under the impression that I could use at least two controllers on steam with this game. Does anyone know otherwise?
great review thanks
6:20 what is this game? Seems fun.
Ravenswatch
Ty :]
Game looks mad fun
hope you get those bill payers someday soon

good in-depth review, never heard of this game and now im considering playing it.
Loved the first one but i don't like the DA in this one
Hey
yo
You can't just say "perchance"
Oh! I didn't even know a second one was out! I remember the all the times I would play with my friend on his switch. Perhaps it's time to pick up the second one... 😁
Sadly is a shameless hades clone
It tried wayyy too hard to be Hades
looking at this just makes me miss magicka
TLDR:
No, just play wizard of legend 1
You cant just say perchance
They massacred my boy
I think they bought the IP to aim to make it a league of legend-like game but they failed.
Looking gay and breedable Ohdough.
