- "Elenco Playground 130" is a great electronic toy for ages 12 & up, allowing quick and easy construction of 130 different circuits from scratch: from simple LED lights to a working AM radio.
Inside the box is a book of 130 schematics for the various projects, a bag of pre-cut and stripped wires for making quick connections, and a colorful console with all electronic parts for the projects mounted on its surface with steel spring terminal points for each individual part. The springs allow fast, safe, and easy wire connections and disconnections of parts without soldering. The console requires six AA batteries (not included).
Some online negative reviews of the toy point to faulty battery holders in the console. Apparently, the issue of bad connections is limited to a small production series in the past and Elenco has since fixed the problem.
This video explains an easy fix of the "Playground" toy with not working battery connectors, if you have no means of getting replacement from the manufacturer.

gather had one of those from 1970s, made with cardboard and held up for 50+ years. he got interested in electronics from it and handed his kit down to me.
