The Kyoto City Tourism Association (DMO KYOTO), in a first-ever collaboration with the Kyoto Gozan Okuribi Association, will deliver a program for tourists to deeply experience the traditional culture of Kyoto on the day of the lighting of the Kyoto Gozan Okuribi bonfires, a major traditional event of Kyoto. The aim of this program is to support the efforts to sustain the tradition and pass down the cultural values by inviting visitors, chiefly from overseas, to experience and gain deeper understandings of this cultural event.
The proceeds of this project will go to the preservation and continuation of Kyoto Gozan Okuribi.
毎年8月16日に京都の夜空を彩る「京都五山送り火」は、お盆の精霊を送る伝統行事です。東山に【大】の字が浮かび上がり、松ケ崎に【妙・法】、西賀茂に【船形】、大北山に【左大文字】、嵯峨に【鳥居形】が点火されます。地元保存会の人々の手によって灯され、5つの送り火はすべて「京都市登録無形民俗文化財」に指定。この「五山送り火」の様子をLIVE配信します。数百年に渡り伝統の炎を守り継ぐ様子とともに、亡き人を偲び、再びあの世へ送る、お盆のひと時を絶景からお送りします。
