I box things up and tape them shut. I put a date on the box and keep it in the closet for 3 to 4 months. If I don’t think of anything I want in the box after that time I donate it without even opening the box.
This is a great video. Thank you for sharing. Your point about unloading the dishwasher taking virtually no time is spot on. We inflate how much time and effort it actually takes to accomplish those tasks.
I'm getting more into minimalism myself, I'm currently in the midst of decluttering my apartment. I'm new to the channel, but your content seems nice! Keep it up
Speaking of feeling. I hope the very Best for You and Your Husband that Your health is optimal during this pregnancy. I pray You have all the sustained strength of a child as You raise Your Special Child. I know this New family member will absolutely be Loved. I feel so privileged to be invited to know of this New Soul who will be welcomed by Parents such as the two of You. All the Best !❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
i can relate! i finally set up a box for me and my kids to dump extra clothes or clothes that dont fit anymore (which you sometimes realize upon trying to wear them) and every time it gets full, seal it and put a date on it. somehow a fire broke within town and i was able to donate clothes (mixed for a family with 2 kids😊) - added the age of kids on the label for easy distribution.
You are such an inspiration! I began my minimalist journey a year ago when I stumbled across one of your videos. I honestly didn’t know how much influence it would have on my life & the way I view stuff. I now incorporate declutterring & tidying up in my daily routine & I not only see a difference in the way my house looks & the way I shop but I also feel a sense of peace with myself. I never thought all my stuff would have been the reason behind my anxiety but because of you & your channel I have been able to take back my home & my life. 🫶🏼
I will tell you the biggest work of decluttering is moving. To a smaller space. You will CLEARLY see how much you have not parted with that you did not need or use. Its a tighter squeeze on that wake up call. WE all get comfortable and complacent in our space. Let a change come in and you will be surprised at what you been holding on to. Especially if you move yourself. The burden of all those things, especialky heavy ones is a confrontation into the clutter blindness and what you did not see before. Its a marathon!
Another great video Elin! Thank you for the encouragement of doing gateway storage. I find going immediately to decluttering overwhelming, but if I prove to myself that I Can live without the extras, then eliminating the extras after a set amount of time would prove that I can live without. Let the peace and calm begin! 🤍
I only started decluttering a few weeks ago (thanks TH-cam for randomly recommending minimalism videos to me) and my method is a bit different. All of my concentration is on my bedroom right now, since that's my main living space. I actually put my donation stuff in reusable bags on the floor, so if I want to get to a certain place, I have to physically move my clutter. It's catching on as well since my mother has started going through her wardrobe as well!
Your dining room is a picture of peace. I never thought i had a style. My style was, chaos control. But , if I were asked what my style really is , I could show that dining room. Such tranquility. Are those all built ins or did you design pieces for the space and fit them in? What sweet off white is that?
Nope. Too many people will just leave it in storage instead of dealing with it. And that doesn't fix the problem that exists, that got you too much stuff in the first place.
I humbly disagree. Sometimes it takes a process in order for people to let go of the extra stuff. I understand that it won’t work for you, but it does work for me.

I do have a really old home tour on my channel if you search in my videos!
Thank you, so helpful

Would love to hear about your minimalist journey as you prepare for a baby!🎉😊
Great idea!!
I love your place. You have a beautiful home.
Thank you!!

I love the floor is lava- in particular with the Alexa as it’s more dramatic 😅

They are built ins! And I don’t actually know the color :/
I would love to see a baby update! 😊
Maybe rent a storage pod, instead of having to transport things to a storage unit.
just keep moving at least 1 time a year and you'll be a minimalist no problem.
