This will be quite long. But pls bear with me. I hope you find this educational and enlightening. Anyway ... Fuel economy is dependent on so many things, even though they are compared among seemingly the same car category. Such things as: environment/road condition (they will not be always the same), payload, kilometers on the odometer (a 100km odo is a far cry from a 1000km odo), driving style, traffic conditions (even on a highway), to name a few. Having said that, cars or their engines and transmission are designed differently. They have their own unique performance curves (an engg concept). This simply means that their optimum performance will be different, definitely not at 90kph or their equivalent rpm. On a practical level, permit me to expound on two models that I have that are included in.your list: a 2017 mazda 2 and a 2023 Toyota wigo TRD S. The mazda 2 is quote unique, maybe because of its skyactive engine. It has 2 peak performance (high mileage, low fuel consumption). One is at 80-90kph, the other at 100-110kph. Though the lower speed has a slightly higher peak. My best hiway consumption is 23km/li at 85-120kph. The wigo's peak is between 60-75kph. Driving below 85kph gives me 27-28kph! One is old (mazda) with 50k on the odo, while the new one (wigo) has 3k on the odo. Clearly, one is designed for a different set of conditions than the other. I hope your viewers can distinguish that. Thank you.
