I mean it just seems like the same old stuff. say you'll release xyz in [time], [time] rolls around and woops, we've missed it AGAIN. Like surely after 10 years CIG would've learned that their sense of time is off by a good few months, and yet they keep setting their deadlines (be it hard or soft) short. Not to mention the absolute shitshow that is CIG's marketing department that seems to play a different game than us
It wouldn't matter so much that CIG is fallible in their 'estimates' if more players would chill tf out, but Gamers™️ aren't exactly known for being reasonable. CIG has gotten more and more tight-lipped about estimates, but they got shit for that too. Only way for them to never be wrong is to never share until the final stretch of a patch, like Hello Games style, and I'm sure CIG would love to be able to do that.
Its not about them not knowing how to set deadlines its about softwaredevlopment beeing very unpredicatable - the more complex the code the more unpredicatable. It is what it is. Nothing they can do about realy. That beeing said, it of course still sucks. But that is how it is with something so enormous.
@@LucidStrike'reasonable'? A decade of being wrong doesnt make it our fault for questioning them. How reasonable is it to start developing an entirely different game instead of putting our money where we put it!
@@LucidStrike You cant tell people to "chill tf out", when some of them have been waiting for 12 years. You just cant. Some people have gone to college, graduated, started their career, and then got married and had kids, in that 12 years. I love Star Citizen and want it to succeed, but the game will start losing players if CIG don't start delivering solid changes, both to gameplay and stability.
I'm waiting for 4.0 but only because that's kind of my cut off for how long I'll wait for them to throw MM in the bin. I won't actually bother playing 4.0 if nothing real changes, probably start selling off my account and sticks and stuff if so.
@@cosmicmegafauna I wouldnt go far enough as selling my sticks (i love them lol) but I fully understand. Over 7+ years my hope has been stretched real thin. I feel bad for new players but also envy those who dont know about SC.
@@MKDAWUSS That's fine, it makes sense kind of for a single player. They simply shouldn't be using it for SC. There's no good justification for why Squadron has to be the same as the PU, they should be treated as separate games, not SQ42 as an "intro" to the PU.
When I began playing in 3.11, CIG was (attempting, at least) monthly patches. Then it became quarterly patches (kind of), and lately, like 2 major patches a year? Things appear to be progressing slower and Pyro is still being held hostage by {something} half a decade later. Even watching ISC lately, the devs are still saying "we could do this" or "in the future we might..." Honestly feels like they don't really have a plan, sad to say.
Those monthly patches barely had any meat to them. The two patches a year they push recently had more in them than all 12 monthly patches put together.
Yea, and the monthly patches did what? Changed the color of a building and added one scope for one gun? These patches are game changing to levels beyond anything we got between 3.13 and 3.18
your comparing them wrong is the issue which is illogical. Its like comparing getting monthly free slice of pizza or a burger versus getting a nice amount of things youve always wanted and a whole meal of your favorite foods every 3. what were at now is like finally paying off your dream house levels of accomplishments development wise.
They don’t. I made a very similar post about 3 months ago. They have no idea what they are doing or what they want to do. They’ll come up with an idea, make it to 75%, release it unfinished, and move on to a new idea. Just to revisit it 3 years later and do the same thing because it has to be completely rebuilt for some reason.
The problem with 3.24 is that CIG has gotten into the habit of releasing features that are sortof working and relying on players to figure out workarounds for the jank. However, the new inventory and hangar instancing across shards probably rely heavily on distributed databases, which are notoriously unforgiving - your code either works or it doesn't. And so CIG made their time estimates based on "sortof working" and discovered that sometimes you can't.
Well there is literally no blueprint for the feature because there are approximately zero games with physicalised hangars, physicalised freight elevators and physicalised cargo transfer. So they were giving estimates blindly based on what they thought would work at the time -- but you're right that databases are unforgiving and come with innumerable hurdles to overcome. Chad's estimates was based on what he told Richard, and Richard conveyed that to the backers; that was just CIG being transparent. The fact some people are angry that CIG shared their internal estimates with the backers is more of a backer problem than a CIG problem, since CIG is only giving out estimates that they are working with -- maybe they hit them, maybe they don't (spoiler: they did not). But again, people look at it realistically, CIG has no foundations to work from because they are building blindly and trekking where no other studio has gone before; it would seem like people would be willing to give them slack for that.
@@rolinthor They need to, because once they hit 1.0 they won't be able to get away with things like killer elevators. The game won't be judged as an alpha then, and it will end up with the stigma of being yet another half finished cash grab AAA game. Chris Roberts needs to hammer this hard into his employees' heads.
I think you're way off on your guesses about Twitch viewership. The only reason there was a big bump in May this year was because Summit1G and Shroud decided to stream the game. Together, they comprised an overwhelming majority of all views for that week. That bump on the 18th? Around 80% of all the views were just from their two streams.
I am not afraid to say it. Yogi messed that game up with MasterModes. Now they are adding more time synces with this cargo patch. The game is now buggy AF. Also those twitch stats are from that big streamer who was streaming Star citizen for one month then left because Mastermodes sucks
It’s not master modes killing SC. I see many people who love it and many people who hate it. I think the game has unrelated problems that that far outweigh any concerns with the flight model. Not to say that you are right or wrong for disliking MM. I just don’t think that’s the big issue killing SC.
Outside the F7a being insanely overpowered and light fighters and...okay, honestly all the ships we used to love to fight in now being useless being slaughtered by the F7a or missile spam. The ship/weapon balance wasn't horrible for the rest roflmao. Easier solution would have been never to have released the F8c and ruined the balance. It's just that flight sucks and is not enjoyable to do as an activity in the game. Honestly what ship can you buy in game right now and dominate in, kinda kills the urge to grind xx number of hours through failed missions due to servers to obtain a ship that is going to get one passed by the meta. Our ships used to be fun, like having a choice of driving your favorite car or truck etc but is now kind o like a company car you don't enjoy with a function, to haul cargo, commute, or haul weapons + deliver their projectiles to a target, the best mix of dps, speed and handling gets you the kill ...we were trying to think of how to describe it one night.
Yup. MM has killed this game for me. The physics-based flight was the ONLY thing that separated SC from all the other space games. Since MM is just arcade crap, I might as well play the other space games with actual gameplay behind their arcade flight.
@@ryanmitchell4044 People left in droves after they dropped MM. The problem is MM, that's not in question at this point. That and the COD-style FPS direction, rather than more Arma-inspired as was long promised. People have dealt with plenty of change over the years, these ones are what are making people quit because they're antithetical to the whole concept.

@@cosmicmegafauna this statement sums up what so many try to ignore
I for one am certainly *NOT* coming back just when 3.24 lands. Ill keep consuming youtube and reviews until i can feel that i can get some real progression in the game.
Summer time is a crappy time to seat in front of a pc with 30° Celsius. But I wasn't that much against trying to jump in 3.24... Untill I saw all the cargo shit shenanigan's posted by the firsts youtubers on the 3.24 patch. Buying 32 SCU of cargo that can not be delivered because of the elevator size incompatibility...Ship exploding in the hangar with a full load of cargo worth lot's of auec....Than there is this moving boxes gameplay.. I'm not interested. Than there is how do you take your helmet off to drink or eat if you don't have the inventory, and many others things.... I though ... WTF...
@@nikoulph If you take your helmet off with Alt+H, you don't need inventory space. It clips to your belt (and becomes invisible) so you can drink, then hit Alt+H again to put your helmet back on. Just don't forget to put it back on... As for everything else... yeah, if you judge a patch based on the earliest evocati/wave 1 builds that appear on youtube, you're going to see a lot of broken shit. Wait until it's out of PTU to judge how playable or broken it is. If you're not interested in the "moving boxes gameplay," cool, you don't have to do that. Physicalized cargo is an important feature of the game, it's not just for "warehouse simulator" gameplay.
They need people with experience in creating gameplay, not just talented 3d Artists and Programmers. A big chunk of the gameplay is more frustrating than the bugs even.
Agreed. They seem to make a lot of decisions that sound good to them in their fantasy of what the game could be, but then the gameplay of some of those new mechanics or systems either aren't effective, like the new quick loot system and the map that is... somewhat... better? If not still buggy and clunky as hell. Sometimes you can't even close the map because it still thinks your trying to type in the search bar... again, it thinks I'm typing in the search bar WHEN PRESSING F2 to leave the map. Brilliant coding. And everytime they talk about "bringing some friends along so you can load and unload cargo faster" I want to scream. That is the dumbest thing I've heard in a while. Right along the same lines of GTA Online thinking $5k or $10k would be enough incentive for your friends to help you sell your business products... which just NEVER happened like that. In a game where the average newly released vehicle costs ~$3.5 million, they thought $5k would be an incentive to help YOUR FRIEND earn potentially millions. Makes total sense... /s I agree 100% CIG needs to hire some experts in gameplay design. It SOUNDS LIKE the new cargo system is going to be boring, tedious, and time consuming with the only benefit being... I guess pushing boxes around on a paletjack could be fun for some people? Or how about countering what is obviously going to be a griefers paradise with personal hangars, by just saying "it won't be an armastice zone in the hangars so you can shoot them if they try to take your ship." Umm... quick question: WHAT IF THEY SHOOT BACK AND JUST TAKE YOUR SHIP AND CARGO?! Cargo you just spent 20 minutes manually loading for... fun?! They are in for a rude awakening when their player base has a major exodus due to horrible bugs, clunky and boring gameplay, bots galore, hacking, and griefing. They have some fantasy about how it will just govern itself with a CRIME system. Yah! Because that has totally worked every time it's been tried in every other MMO SANDBOX. smh
They turn game into grind JOB. We all dreamed of being Capitan from Startrek, but ending up being a clerk in Cyberpunk online… And those pink helmets, armor and ship paints are killing the game look and feel even before the release …
Nah the game is fun and emergent as it is. If you want the Fortnite stuff or the Call of Duty stuff, you can play those games. A lot of the game is about immersion and technical detail and it's the only game of its kind, followed closely by DCS and Tarkov (with DCS taking place solely in planes/helicopters, and Tarkov taking place solely on foot). We don't have enough technically detail-oriented games, and I'm glad that Star Citizen exists to fulfill that void in the space-sim genre.
Honestly lots of times the bugs are what makes the boring missions fun, lots of times we use to be laughing to death with our friends trying to work around stuff 😂😂
Ships should rarely ever explode. There should be several progressive layers of disablement, with components taking increasing damage with then affects their capabilities, but the ship itself should never blow apart unless a rare concurrence of damage occurs that breaches the fuel tanks, etc. We've all seen Star Trek, yeah? Hell even the propane and other volatile-gasses trailers that semis pull around rarely explode when breached, because current technology provides for controlled venting in the event of damage. If non-catastrophic destruction was the norm then we could live more on the ships themselves rather than in hangars, stations, outposts - whatever. It would make sense to have to tow a ship, to be able to return to it and salvage your personal stuff, repair it in space, etc. But they absolutely need to turn the boom boom off. Aside from that, my issue is that they're pointlessly making the game more convoluted, less intuitive, and less fun. Who thought hiding major flight functions under modifier keys was a good idea? Tedium is the #1 sin in a video game, and they're embracing this unnecessary complexity instead of excising it. We play in the little spare time we have available to us for fun, not to work an imaginary additional job that just increases our stress instead of releasing it.
The SC community likes those kind of tedium tasks, but complex technical procedures, (imagine turning on a ship DCS like) not so much So the game adds a lot of extra steps, like the new inventory and 1 piece at the time looting, the long train and elevator raids (a favorite among SC players, no joking, they like that), long multiple steps in basically all interactions, etc So it will only get more convoluted from now on, since they are ramping all those promises of extra steps from a decade ago
I would like to know how they released to public a version where the Inventory close button (X) doesn't work. There seems to be too much attention to changing things and not enough attention to finishing things. In the meantime existing players are being alienated because we liked playing the game that was there, but CIG are trying to make us play the game they intended to build but never have.
Very much this. CIG wants us to play a certain way and don't get us there by making it fun and engaging to do so, but by trying to punish us for playing the way we prefer. That's not going to end well
Their internal testing methodologies don't appear to check basic functionality, nor check for regressions. I was floored to see in the evocati patch notes that the dreaded ASOP fade to black had been reintroduced in a patch.
The whole thing is run by artists, from the top down. The coding part seems to be done by the janitor Dave, who knows coding , because he used to sweep the offices at IBM.
getting hyped about anything SC related is like getting hyped when a snail moves 1cm while it has to go several meters. i stopped being close to this project and tbh every time i do fire up the game a couple times a year i have actually a good enough time because i am not emotionally invested anymore. i can recommend this approach to literally every SC fan. it will serve you well in the long run and believe me it still is a prettyyyyyy long run. otherwise you burn yourself out before the game even reaches beta ffs. :))
Yep that's the only thing I've done this entire year, was a little excited to dive back in but once fired up I realized i didn't want to deal with everything, so uninstalled
im the same, but im also wondering if the "death of a spaceman" announcements has made a difference to other players? for me its harder to commit to the idea theres more punishment than we already have in the future, i feel like my motivation for progress died when thinking about the time spent trying not to lose all my stuff/progress so easily once it comes along. then when the nursa came out right after im uncertain as to where this game is even going, not sure if its safe to get one or just worry about playing something else instead.
@@GreySix For my part I feel like the same. It's because they messed up with the tedious inventory and fright handling. Having stayed more arcady like it was wouldn't have broken a jag out of their crown...
I stopped playing after MM released, call me a sweaty nolifer but i really enjoyed pre MM pvp and pve, i just dont enjoy slow pvp and new controls limitations(
Same here! The ships now fly like piles of shit and it’s an absolute pain in the ass to manoeuvre them. Plus, what’s up with the hard brake as soon as you flop out your landing gear?! Why did my million aUEC ship switch to fucking dead turtle mode as soon as the landing gear comes out?! And why do I have to engage quantum travel to cruise at a reasonable speed but then have to accept that my shields are down (WHY THE FUCK THO?!) and getting one shoted from some greasy basement goblin player? WHERE DOES THAT MAKE SENSE?!??!,!
After trying out MM, I unplugged my sticks and pedals, threw them in a box, and now just consume content or check Spectrum here and there, waiting for improvements on the flight model. I really don't like feeling that way, but MM really sapped the desire to play right out of me.
same, my org buddies have been learning the DCS Chinook, having a blast running cargo in that. Cost less than a cyclone too, and you already have sticks and pedals...
personally, i just keep hearing about pyro and 4.0, but i just dont see any real news like yeah, i know there's stuff there, but it just feels like the same thing you know?
A lot of it will orient around engineering gameplay and resource management. Restoring power, replacing batteries, providing food and supplies to settlements -- it's more survival oriented. But if you're not into that kind of thing, then I can see why it wouldn't be terribly interesting.
It seems gameplay wise it would be the same mission styles in a different system, but maybe they have some surprises, like gang reps, armors/rank grinds, gang affiliations etc But most likely will be the same, same old box missions, old BH missions, old bunker/recks style missions, etc
Remember when this game used to have a fun and cool flight model? Anyways not to change the subject but master modes convinced me that I should get out of the house more
@@eavdmeer and imagine that the devs state they are happy with this, and that they aren't making significant changes to it before 4.0... Not that any changes to the system will fix it. the whole premise of "modes" is just obnoxious. There's a reason I stuck with SC and not other space games, and space flight actually being fluid was it. Easy to learn, hard to master.
@poposterous236 While I agree it needs tweaking, MM is what made me buy sticks, and for many of us it felt like the game was fun to fly in again after years of drifty physics and light fighter supremacy
I am at the point I am not exited anymore for new patch because I know it will run like shit as all of them with server 5fps. No patch is going to be playable untill server mesh which would need to work and that is very likely to not meet it's expectations.
this "not until..." narrative keeps the game alive for years by now. Honestly, its just the next carrot on the stick to me. Unless i see videos on yt popping up saying how great SC finally is, i won't get involved with this game again, at least not in a manner to play on a frequent basis. Checking in every 6 months or so, sure, but then also putting it back aside after a couple hours for the next six months. And its very likely enough to consume just everything around Citizencon and turn the rest of the year off.
Exactly. There are hard limits on what meshing can do--especially if they are utilizing Amazon Web Services (which they are). You cannot just throw more servers at something--it has to do with how many simultaneous data streams and network connections that server can handle and how difficult it is to manage complex clusters in real time. They haven't even caught up to where other MMOs have gotten stuck. At the heart of the issue is when you add more objects/players/etc that need to interact, the number of in/out data streams grows EXPONENTIALLY--not linearly because they each need to be updated on what the other objects/player/etc are doing. This is the bottleneck and there is a limit to how many can be done each server tick. Server meshing improves this limit, but it has diminishing returns and eventually hits a hard limit. It is also expensive to operate.
My biggest complaint with Star Citizen recently is the censorship in Spectrum. I understand why they don't want people talking about real world trading, or asking about issues that should be resolved by contacting customer support. But more and more, they're censoring comments about just bad experiences people have had. I'm fairly conscientious about what I post in Spectrum, and they've slapped my wrist a couple of times for perfectly reasonable comments on things I've experienced. I hate censorship in general principle, and I find it frustrating and, frankly, infuriating.
Not hard. Master mode is a net negative and we are waiting for the "balance". The Game is financed by ship sales and CIG is playing with the ships right now. Alot of people are "waiting". My flightstick is on my table and I am waiting.
@@guitar60253 It's ok i guess, unless something else better comes around any time soon or just have your mind get busy on something else until it gets to that end line per say.
Jeez this game better be good, if not how can I justify watching hours and hours of space tomato meta discussions about the game and what it might become....
I'm a newcomer to SC and I've enjoyed playing it, but I gotta be honest: this is the worst gameplay experience I've ever had in any videogame. The desync, server errors, random jank, random explosions, and the fact that basically no part of this game actually works, leads me to go "what the hell have you all been doing for 12 years???"
Same for me. Master Modes was kinda the end for me. If they fix it, I might go back, but I'm seeing other things that make me want to move on from SC entirely.
I really don't care too much that 'cargo Chad' made the choice to delay 3 24,rather than shipping it out entirely broken. I don't believe that's what's keeping people from being interested in playing. What happened to star citizen this summer? Well, master modes that a lot of players didn't ask for and still strongly dislike and a UI rework that's nothing short of a disaster. The term 'ironman UI' was coined by Camurel. Definitely resonates with me. On ultra wide screens the large fonts are literally 10x the size of the small ones. Everything is in bright glaring colors and everything flashes and animates. I used to enjoy doing a bit of everything. I keep trying to get back to do some ship bounties. Master modes makes that experience nothing short of terrible. Every single time again.
Well said. I started this ride at the age of 36 when they led me to expect it would release when I was between 37 and 39. I'm closing in on 47. They're going to have to do better than long queues to leave our hangars and another 8 years of cluster f'd development stumbles.
Personally speaking the Overdrive/Xenothreat event burnt me out a lot. Having the rewards tied to finishing an event that refused to work for me 90% of the time left a bitter taste, all my attempts left me with little money so now I can barely repair or restock. On top of that I didn't even get any rewards for my troubles. Oh, and inventory is just not working 99.999% of the time. Even when it works at spawn I can't loot anything anymore, boxes don't open or won't let me drag items out of them. Makes every destination wayyyy less fun to explore.
I feel like a big clue was revealed in the last ISC about narration and lore. They said that the company relentlessly pursues the "best solution" and that Chris Roberts can - sometimes to the detriment of the game - switch objectives at bad times (weeks before release is due, etc). I see many companies (not just gaming) make these mistakes with a leader who is a perfectionist and a bit ADHD. They switch directions so fast that quality and marketing can't keep up. They pursue perfection over developing a well-rounded, high quality product, and then iteratively improving it. As a simple example, they seem to relentlessly pursue "reality" even if it makes the player experience crappy. The drawer system is a good example. But even drinking is ridiculous in this game. I have to remove my helmet, drag a bottle to my hand, switch out of inventory view, hold the mouse button to drink, right click to store the bottle, switch back to inventory view, put my helmet back on. Jesus. Yes, it's real but it makes playing the game stupidly arduous. It literally takes 15-30 minutes to get into ANY activity in this game once you spawn naked on a hospital bed. So win for realism, fail for fun and playability. They just can't keep doing things like this or people will bail. MS Flight Simulator has a great balance. If you want to get into a plane "cold and dark" and run through checklists to start it up, you can. If you want to just click and put the plane at the end of a runway with the engine running, you can.
@seanLeprechaun if only they'd focused on developing and releasing the game they originally pitched for crowdfunding, and then built on that, instead of allowing themselves to be distracted by stretch goals and other ideas that have kept it in alpha hell and chasing money from whales. We'd be in a very different place and be having very different discussions.
The drawer system has nothing to do with reality, it is literally to do with the performance of the backend database. Where do people get these wild claims from based on nothing?
@@netwarrior1000 you gotta kinda reorganize depending on the stretch goals either way. Even then the stretch goals weren't the key thing that delayed the game. That was all due to the introduction of seamless planetary landing early on thanks to the accusation of lead CryEngine devs who left due to Crytek's bankruptcy and their current work on procedural generation being ignored over there. This was a way past release "Maybe" goal that basically got presented to chris and blew his mind back in like 2011 or 2012. That lead to the entire game having to be redesigned to accommodate for the seamlessness versus what we see in most modern space games. The Cloudy entering of atmosphere and then loading into a zone which is far easier to do versus what we kinda take for granted now. The stretch goals blame is more of a old easy blame for Kickstarter delays that has been used since the beginning versus the real world reality of basic production issues or changes.
Physicalized inventory is where "people get these wild claims from". They talk about it all the time. They could make backend database performance improvements and present them with the MobiGlass or with the UI we have pre 3.24. That's why they're called "back end". I'm calling out their new "front end". Which sucks.
The drinking thing could be fixed with a suit/backpack mod. Kinda like 2954 version of a camelback, you put your drinks in your back pack or suit pokets and your hydration meter just stays topped off. But i do agree that some realism needs to give way for enjoyability and elimination of monotonous mechanics, however some people like that realism. So why not accomadate both sides. have the realistic drinking requirements with the removal of head gear etc, but also have a way around it.
I feel like the elephant in the room not mentioned here is the revenue year-over-year, which is only going up and is on track to eclipse last year's record year. Every backer is annoyed with development delays, and have responded by writing a strongly worded check to CIG with their complaints in the memo line.
Fun fact, next year is when a bunch of big investors can officially pull their money out of the project if they want. It makes CIG's behavior make a lot more sense. The babbling about 1.0, the rush to show Squadron as feature complete etc. They're trying to show something real is happening not for the communities sake, but because a few large investors are probably getting cold feet or are meddling.
@@cosmicmegafauna Yeah that's a common narrative, but it's not true. Those investors are on the record wishing they had invested more. They don't have cold feet.
@@Verinia Yes, they're happy because CIG is turning the PU into an arcade game. That's my point; the enshittification of SC is a direct result of investor pressure.
@@cosmicmegafauna I hear you about the game changing. I agree with the direction being a bummer. But I think the reason you’re proposing as to why is rather conspiratorial is all lol
2023 was up 3% over 2022. In that time CIG bought Turbulent (about 10% more employees) and inflation in US, Europe and UK was running over 5%. In real terms their revenue went down and relative to their burn rate it went down significantly. They did shut down a studio in Austin which liquidated most of the employees there, but I haven't seen an updated headcount. So far this year inflation is around 3-4% and funding is so far tracking a hair behind last year, so funding is very slowly declining in real terms. The bigger warning light blinking is that 2023 had 22% less accounts made than 2022, and this year is down more again. Their growth rate has absolutely plateaued which is why they are trying to break into china this year.
MM was the "thanks for all the fish" moment for me (reference is the last line of the great book "A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe"). Anyway, there was no other game that gave me that feeling of flight like SC. That was the special sauce that made putting up with the other crap worth it. By removed enjoyable flight from the game, with MM, they removed the one and only interesting element of the game. Get rid of MM, and I'll come back.
I've only posted about it once on Spectrum, back when MM was in Arena Commander for testing - saying don't do it. The post was well received, as many feel this way. What happened to "made by the community," spectrum is and has been loudly saying no to MM, and they are not listening. I am trying to communicate with data. For the past 6 years, I have put fresh money into SC with the hopes that one day CIG would get a developer with experience in game design, until then I was content to enjoy the feeling of flying in my ship. CIG took that away. Good luck with the project, and thanks for all the fish. This dolphin has left the verse.
If anyone from CIG is reading this, I am sure you are working hard, but game design is not easy. There are thousands of indie games on steam, all looking for that secret sauce to separate them from the rest. Back in 3.13, there were over 100 ships, each with their own unique quarks and characteristics. Mining was IMHO, a finished enjoyable play loop (you had to find the fissures in the rock, then time the firing of modules to break the rocks while fighting the winds of Clio). Pro tips: If you have 20% of a project done, work on the unfinished 80%, not a redo of the finished 20%. Build on your strengths and mitigate your weaknesses. You have a very nice tech demo, release (sell/license/give away) StarEngine to the community. Open the game to modders. The community will work out to bring the game to life. Everyone is happy, CIG focuses on adding new assets (xp: movable shipping boxes) let the community work out pricing, load times, access to hangers, etc. The best mod wins. We all win.
Fwiw: my hanger (bucc, vulture, gatac soylin, bought some ship paints, and subscribed on and off). I'm a dolphins not a whale, and I feel I got my money's worth. From 3.13 -3.17 I had a blast doing solo prospector mining, and played for an hour or two every evening. Then rather than add new game play (data running?) CIG dissmanded mining and replaced it with a completely different game loop packaged in the shin of what used to be SC mining. from my subject pov mining was ruined, but I upgraded to a vulture, maybe you miss-read the data that destroying a game loop that people enjoyed results in upgrades? It did but also lead to abandonment. Then MM, the final straw, strike 3, the tipping point.
I hope their money starts slowing down. That is truly the only thing that could make them change for the better. As long as the money keeps trending up 📈 they don't give a shit how mad their playerbase is.
ahh theyre hired family members who has not clue what is this just to buy helicopter for family trips. This is not game but scam to keep family wealth up than sell it to china
In 3.22 I had some bad nights where I'd loose progress several times in a row and it was frustrating, but I was still having a good time overall. 3.23 just isn't as stable for me, and my time to relax is so limited I just decided I wouldn't risk it being ruined by randomly exploding on an invisible door, or an elevator not being there, or whatever crazy thing I died or lost my progress to. I was also really disappointed to not get cargo. I'm hoping 3.24 is awesome, but I'm expecting it'll be bug city, so maybe 3.25 is where I'll dive back in...
those nights were rare though, it ran well for the most part. 3.20-22 org mates or friends would server hop on/off of the same good performing servers for days. You could trust to have cargo in a ship for hours without going to sell or store out of fear of a server dump...then 3.23 hit
For me i lost hope that CIG has the ability to "Finish" sc at all. Maybe we get a bugged messy game with SQ42 but i highly doubt we will ever see a polished PU, So i abandoned it already and dedicate my time to actual games that i can enjoy. I will come back maybe in 2 years and see if anything has changed. I followed this games Development since 2012 and iam so tired of this huge dissapointing mess tbh.
The problem is that while we here in the US expect summer releases, people, and yes even the US-based CIG studios, forget that all of Europe basically takes the summer off. So the UK and German studios miss deadlines set by the US side. It’s that simple. Happened all the time when I worked with EU-based teams. They simply don’t have anything do resembling regular staffing and schedules during the summer months.
God forbid people have free time besides slaving away their entire life. Interesting way to blame the 12 year odyssey of management f*ckups called star citizen on europe having hollidays, lmao
@@Jordan_C_Wilde moan all u want about having free time his point still stands and explains in part the situation he never implied that was the only reason or « blaming » ONLY that. It certainly doesnt help
@@Dulc3B00kbyBrant0n Dude, it explains "In Part" the situation. Maybe 1%. The gross missmanagement, f'ed up time planning and scaling issues are far greater issues, and you'd think after 14 years of dev time they'd have gotten the memo that apparently "nothing gets done in summer in europe". It would be just as moronic if a EU team wanted the US to release something on Thanksgiving or the 4th of july. It's your responsibility as a team lead to plan around that summer window, like the entirety of europe does. Or you can fight windmills, your choice.
It's not been a good summer for SC. The server stability has been poor, a lot of folks didn't like the master modes and now the inventory system is getting more complicated and cargo hauling requires warehouse worker simulation. Maybe it will get better after a while but at least this summer has been a hard time to pick SC over any other game to play.
3.23 was supposed to be the mega patch that will get everyone playing again. My org hates master modes and so do I. I haven't touched SC in weeks. My org's discord server went quiet. Nobody plays SC anymore.
Think about it, here we are 12 years later and we are not doing that much more than we did in the first year of Star Citizen. We see new ships, mostly concept ships, but not that much to do and it is 12 years of almost the same and that can become boring as hell, we have bailed on many other games for less.
I just don’t care anymore, after years of false promises and failed deadlines I just do not care, I will not spend another minute giving this game any attention or money,
Star Citizen is a bloated fat marketing and software nightmare and got dang do I love it more than I should.... But this summer has been the most frustrating and I've been at my most Skeptical. Love the inclusion of the SC Cycle graph lol
OMG I remember this game when I was 14 and completely forgot about it. I remember I couldn’t wait maybe a year or 2 to play it😭😭 but ITS STILL IN ALPHA?! I’m 25 now idk how yall are active with this game
Regrettably whether the player will have good time or not heavily depends on the server lottery. In addition, the expectation of a wipe with 4.0 (Which is supposed to be this year) unintentionally makes most players including myself considering not to spend the limited amount of free time to the existing patch. The result is the shrinking number of players.
I kind of doubt that a wipe would keep very many SC players away. Wipes are kind of common and kind of not a big deal. You should not be playing SC 'for keeps' right now. Most players are well aware of that
The NeverEnding carrot in front of the horse, I personally just gave up after years of seeing NPC standing on tables, game crashes and really not that fun. The concept and the look are amazing but it's not much of a game.
Game isn't even released. I pop in to check out progress, which I'm always delighted at. I can't believe anyone would try to play an unfinished game especially one that's just gonna wipe your progress eventually.
i agree with this but i had to learn my lesson the hard way before coming to this conclusion. luckily i did and instead of burning myself out way too early i now simply fire up the game a couple times a year and actually have a good time with it. people need to stop being that close to something that moves at a snails speed, its literally unhealthy.
@@Napukin you can enjoy the journey, i was part of those Players. But it got a rocky journey, Lately. What upsets me the Most is that i have to realise that CIG lies to me. Pyro was clearly not coming 2020, they knew it but still chose to Tell us otherwise.
This video is very on point. I am a backer and got tired of all the testing and never ending bugs. So now i just watch content waiting for the day it worth my time to come back.
Yes but no. Combat was one of the few things in the game that actually worked consistently well. Mastermodes makes combat unappealing for people who had gotten really good at combat in the old system, but was absolutely a necessity for enabling other forms of gameplay. CIG wanted to pull the trigger on urging people into other forms of gameplay, but, stability and appeal of these other forms of gameplay isn't there. I quite enjoy salvaging for several reasons, but I cannot use my reclaimer right now because of the extraordinarily high chance I just waste a few hours given a server crash, or random clipping issue.
@@TwinTonyz That's a big 'nope' from me, friend. No offense. Nothing feels worse than requiring boost to keep up with anyone flying in a straight line. Losing control of your axies during the slowdown of that same boost. Not being able to evade shots because weapon velocities are too high. Just wait... When people are rightfully exposed to these horrible design choices come meshing, they'll understand that it's an unforgiving experience that doesn't mesh with the promise that "Ships aren't meant to be exploding left and right" like they've stated in the past. 100% shot uptime with no room for evasion just means more guns win in the end. Throw as many bodies at the problem and problem solved. Skill is no longer something to fear, and that makes for bad game design. We'll see how much you enjoy salvage when you're unable to enter a port without being lasered down by inescapable fire, and are unable to use nav mode to pull off the same because countermeasures are unavailable. "I like the game in this moment" does not even come close to my sentiment for the future of the game. Master modes, without the key features players are begging for, will be the final nail in Star Citizen's coffin if left unaddressed. Suffering the same exact fate as Star Wars Squadrons, unironically an arcade style game.
@@TwinTonyz Independent of what MM is or may one day be, the previous flight model was HORRIBLE, but people had indeed gotten used to it. And I think that is the main source of complaint - having to unlearn a lot of old habits.
I am one of those people waiting for star citizen to get good! I have followed it more or less since the beginning and wish for it to finally come to a point that it's fun to play more then a day.
I think people is just waiting for 4.0, including myself. I'm tired of the same issues always related to server low FPS, so currently my only hope is that server meshing will improve performance and bring some stability, at least for the desync issues. Fingers crossed.
i think really the issue here is the whole "waiting for" narrative. since i stopped "waiting" or "looking forward" to anything SC related i have actually a much better time when i start the game up a couple times a year.
@Atunero I think people are mistaken in thinking meshing will somehow magically fix all of this. The problem is the server can't handle 100 people doing stuff in the game engine. So If you split the star system into different servers and let's say 100 people are on the Hurston server, then the hurston server will still be running like crap. Maybe if you jump to crusader and it has 50 out of 100 people, then maybe the server would be running at a better fps. Again this is assuming that server meshing is even real or even functionally possible in the way they want it to work.
Millions of dollars have went into Star Citizen, and the game play is lackluster at best. Most people want to be entertained while forgetting about the cold, cruel world we sometimes live in. However this game just echos all that is wrong in our world. It's a teaching aid for our modern culture.
I knooo thats the worst part of this game is they seem to be building a depressing pay to win life simulator that erodes ur braincells till u give in and buy ships
I am a Wing Commander in Star Citizen's backer ranks dating back to 2013. I contributed so for two reasons: 1. I've been a hard core gamer since the mid-60s (long before video games were ever invented) & want the tech to succeed, and 2. what they are doing already honestly is absolutely amazing. I'm not jumping in full time right now because the persistent universe isn't really persistent yet. Once I can log out and expect everything to be where I left it when I log back in? That's when Star Citizen will become the game cynics cautioned it would never become ... and the moment I become a full time Star Citizen player.
It isn't just CIG that struggles with messaging. Working for a major software company I can tell you that this happens on every piece of major software. SC is doing fine.
The problem is as they bring more and more game systems online (which is great), it also further pushes the servers to breaking point. The servers have been poor for a very, very long time. They desperately need Server Meshing to come (and work as expected) for it to feel less janky. I love the game but the desync makes it a very tough pill to swallow.
For me, it's really simple. Fix what you have that's broken before you add more that can be added to the list. Fixing the existing problems would game play a lot better.🎉
Let’s not forget the fact that they seem to promote the games environment rather then new ships that’s been somehow been YEARS in the making. Like how hard is it to make a small fighter or bike??? One year I get. 7 years? ARE YOU EVEN DOJNG NEW SHIPS ANYMORE?
Don't let this distract you from the the fact that in 1966, Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship
The Problem is the momentum from Citizencon is mostly gone, and so far they have underdelivered on an epic scale. Nice talks and things they show us on youtube will only do so much, unless they get their servers running (Server Meshing) i dont see much of a future. The Game has been better but lately its mostly an absolute Desync and Leg Fest during this year.
It is the same old strategy to string people along. Remember, the game is secondary. What they want is to treat you like a drugaddict: Give you just enough that you don't give up on buying more and look elsewhere. Smart scheme from RSI as always :)
Cig does not have a communication problem, people have an understanding problem and that is not cig's fault, they have been upfront with all of us far more than any other game development company i am aware of. Learn to develop patience, impatience is a core feature of my personality and even i inderstand that all this will take time and will take a very bumpy path before it is done.
As a game dev and IP creator myself and a investor to SC I have to say enjoy the copium. I wont go further due to Zealot rage but its reality. I know this game inside and out and have not much interest. It's a money veding machine period. It's so hard to get funding and interest from a large group just apt to hate because streamers say so. People are watching the great vision die that doesnt mean its alive.
This. 'Shit happens' is like a physical law of the universe. Sure, CIG could avoid more snafus by communicating less, but people would complain about that too, so the best case is for folks to chill tf out and accept that, again, shit happens. 🤷🏿♂️
False, CIG have a direction problem. They market the game as not p2w and that they wanna stop selling ships at launch and also releasing it within the next 6 years (it was 4 years ago I think since chris said ”it wont take 10 or 20 years”). Meanwhile they have between 1-2k employees worldwide, no indication of an intention to downsize, and they are randomly increasing prices on ships that havent seen the light of day for 5 years or more, oh and they MONETIZE EVERYTHING. CIG has many, many problems.
It's because after almost a billion dollars and a decade, people dont have the time. Its barely an alpha with no clear direction. It's just a constant work in concept. More fun to watch than try and play. It just isn't ready. The studio will go under before a smooth, full release game ever comes out.

Good vid as aways. Aside from Random Death Citizen, the cargo lift is just a larger elevator predator...gulp. I enjoy the two new sub-games, Equip Citizen 2.0 with the added Steps and Cargo Citizen. The new excitement from server lag or server switching just as I engage bad guys or come in hot for landing. As a solo citizen, any bullet getting through my paper plate armor leaves me on the ground, which leads to Groundhog Day Citizen. During the Coma Citizen state there should be a mini-game to get a med ped in. SQ42 in "2 years" meant 5 years, so "1 year" will probably be 2-3 years lol! a lot of stuff has been great, but a lot of stuff has been iffy and/or borderline non committal. like they are afraid of the OG concept and that the community will just revolt if they can't access their "physical" inventory every 50 feet. MM is iffy as well, i get the idea of wanting to be closer in fights for dramatic effect, and can see the potential of it being meaningful in fleet combat, but it feels terrible, and really seems like it didn't have much to do with PvP and was just their solution to speed cap at the point that NPC AI has trouble targeting and actually hitting player ships. which is an interesting choice when Glaives and Ares are put into the spawn lists for medium difficulty bounties... and then missiles break on those specific targets lol.... physical looting was removed from armor entirely. can't interact in the slightest way for ANY item, which is not great when quick looting breaks recovering your loadout from body, and huge downgrade from when i started playing in 3.5...... yes, i said 3.5! new looting mechanics not allowing players to do simple things like pick up a gun, because there is one on your back, makes general looting complete BS. like they are trying to fix something that wasn't broken, and proceed to break everything about it. gun updates have been ok, but some SMG like Custodian have such bad recoil that they have lost a lot of effective range. i'm talking like 10m effective range even with controlled burst firing techniques...
Its not features that will keep people in, its stability, better server performance. You log in to check the new stuff and run into the same issues the game has had for the past years, so you log out and wait another semester, but they dont seem to understand this.
@@NY-Vice It's not, because he wants a functoinal game NOW. And Star Citizen is still heavy in development. So if he wants something that's functional now, you have to settle for something else.
CIG has no shortage of new, custom toys on their everchanging backdrops, a life size replica Drake firefly, and Star Trek style doors going into their office, how can Star Citizen be in trouble with the player base??...
3.24 is making the game even more tedious. CIG needs game designers... not just programmers and artists. Taking hours to load a ship with boxes is NOT fun. Sure the first couple of times it may sound cool. But if Cargo is the way it is in 3.24 people will lose interest. Pvp isn't even fun anymore because of Master Modes. CIG hire GAME DESIGNERS please!
I say this as someone that has only been playing about 4 years... Ya alot of discords seem to empty out earlier and earlier each and every year after some brief flurry of testing of the odd "new thing" in a patch each year. Then there is alot of "you just wait! Next patch will blow your mind!!!". Well not once have I felt like that and the empty discords I see around and quiet ORGS should tell you something. I believe they have less than 2 years to release a nearly complete, polished and compelling MMO experience along side an awesome SQ42 or this whole thing is done. The lights will go out and the servers will go off not long after. I will feel really sad about that but that is reality I think.
I've been a backer since 2015. Its the same game since 3.0 came out. So when something actually changes, then i will play. Otherwise i will play other finished games.
Its not just losing interest..were getting older. I started playing SC in my early 20s. Now in my mid-30s. Family, very little time to game, especially half-baked sandbox type stuff. Having about an hour or two to play something and spend half that time wrestling with crashes is just not my idea of a good time anymore.
I hear there also some financial and legal obligations that have to be met over the next year or so. What they are I have no idea, but it DOES seem that CIG are in a push stuff out the gate mode. People are talking 4.0, but 4.0 is merely a Patch which is being accompanied by something more meaty and more risky for CIG, a new star system: The Pyro System, and that my friends is an EXPANSION to the game, NOT a patch!! It will be interesting to see how this expansion to a game that is barely functional will be received.
Even further, 4.0 isn't just an expansion with a new star system, it is the next stage of the game. A new star system is a very big deal, sure, but the REAL big deal of 4.0 is server meshing. It will go from 1 star system and 100 players, to 2 star systems and who knows how many players (could be anywhere from 200 to 1000), plus all of the other new features that are supposed to come with 4.0. Rest assured, the game will remain barely functional for a good while yet. It will most likely get worse before it gets better.
@@neofromthewarnerbrothersic145 Oh I do agree!! But I find myself irritated by the conflation people are making between the 4.0 Patch and the Pyro System Expansion. I guess it's a touch triggering of my latent pedantism.
Been a backer for 8 years now, and am still waiting for actual character progress where playing the game means actually acomplishing something. Currently there is no progress at all so no reason to play. They need to pull themselves together or this game will die.
They have never missed a sale event as far as I can recall, and when there's a bug in the store page they fix that within hours. CIG epitomizes the sentiment of 'the faster a phone is answered in sales, the slower it is answered in support.'
What happened in the summer? Nothing, we waited months for the ability for ships to come up on an elevator… it takes them months to release something that small and trivial… unbelievable
My biggest concern is the amount of time that you have to spend preparing and doing everything in which they just seem to keep adding more, and more to. It shouldn't take 15-25 minutes to log in get into New Babbage and get to your ship, to further take another 2-5 minutes to get into atmosphere then another 5-20 minutes (based on your drive) just to get to the planet you're trying to get to. This isn't including mission times. It's bad enough I can't expect to get anything done on SC during a normal work day unless I have a weekend to play. This is something they will have to address sooner or later. Cargo Elevators and systems of the sort just added more steps. You cannot access your armor or weapons from your room anymore. Loading your ship full of cargo while I feel is a good addition to the game they will have to somehow increase the rewards for taking these steps. Back when Hull munching was introduced I felt it was broken because of how easy it was. At the same time it kept me coming back over and over again because I knew for the amount of time I was investing in it (1-3 hours on a week day closer to 6ish on weekends) and I was still making progress. As of this current patch for the amount that I can make has been reduced so much I don't even go out on quests anymore. I often find myself losing more money (I started with 2 mil this patch and I'm down to 200k now) from refueling or my ship blowing up after having attempted to do some salvaging with my Reclaimer, bounty missions take far to long to progress in for the amount you make back from them. While you can run cargo there is no guarantee the station/location you're going to even needs that cargo. This is another major issue, and without exploring a 3rd party site you have no idea if or not you're making money/losing money or just wasting your time in general.
First of all, this game is NOT orientated towards geeks or nerds. You are completely lost to believe that bs. Pirating and pillaging is literally the entire development thus far. I dont know wth you are talking about. Honestly, building it all from scratch is far more bold than taking on the overhead of someone elses well oiled machine. Its very traditional development.
ive always wondered, since pyro was supposedly ready for so long and we are waiting for SM, why arent we also getting nyx or another system now? cause it seems like pyro just by itself even without SM issues would have taken as long
they will never finish server meshing, do you know why? Because you will no longer have excuses to focus your efforts on content and new mechanics for the game
There's nothing to do. Any ship I might want to purchase in game now costs a lot more. And with a known wipe coming why should I bother doing anything anyway? Plenty of other games I can play that actually let me keep my progression and give me new content. (Actual content not just another ship to buy.)
You say that like it's a problem, and not just your personal preference... Ship prices needed to be increased, and money making needed to be nerfed. It was way too easy for people to make millions per hour, which trivializes the act of earning/buying a ship. Buying something like a C2 shouldn't be trivial, it should be kind of a big deal, something you have to work toward. If you don't want to deal with wipes or other parts of playing a WIP game, then don't. As you said, there are plenty of other things you can play that aren't WIP. That doesn't mean SC is doing something wrong. I take breaks to play other things for months at a time, as most people do. I just don't start doomposting about SC whenever I feel the need to step away from it.
@@neofromthewarnerbrothersic145 yup. Pretty much as soon as I hear that there is a wipe incoming I stop playing. I haven't been on in months. Star Citizen is a game you can easily take a break from for 6 months to a year and not really miss anything. 😆

Everyone is looking forward to 4.0.... What in the history of CIG makes you think that 4.0 will be any better?
I'm waiting for 4.0 but only because that's kind of my cut off for how long I'll wait for them to throw MM in the bin. I won't actually bother playing 4.0 if nothing real changes, probably start selling off my account and sticks and stuff if so.

@@wafflesinsanity exactly.
It’ll be hard to change their company culture to get away from that style, too.
Yup! Every aspect of the game makes you feel like “man can you imagine how cool that will be when they get it working like intended?”
Stuff they are introducing is garbage in terms of design/enjoyment. No matter if they work 100% without any bugs.

As a long time backer (2017) I have come to the conclusion that if CIG had a map to fun, they would still go the other way.
That’s my concern. I don’t think CIG.knows how to create fun gameplay. If they could everything else would be more tolerable.

I for one am certainly *NOT* coming back just when 3.24 lands. Ill keep consuming youtube and reviews until i can feel that i can get some real progression in the game.
ill be back at 4.0
Summer time is a crappy time to seat in front of a pc with 30° Celsius.
@@neofromthewarnerbrothersic145 Tnx man, after 5 years playing I still did not know that keybind
Why? I mean, are you saying this because you want to play but refuse to? Like it’s a game, play it when you want to. Why put yourself in a corner?
I agree 100% CIG needs to hire some experts in gameplay design.
We all dreamed of being Capitan from Startrek, but ending up being a clerk in Cyberpunk online…
And those pink helmets, armor and ship paints are killing the game look and feel even before the release …
I left in 2022 when I found out they take a 1 month Christmas vacation. One whole month, and they tell us they are working hard? Meh.
Developing game in alpha.
All of that has already been discussed and explained in past weekly Star Citizen videos.
They’ve been talking about doing all that shit for a decade, but the truth is they haven’t put any thought behind it yet.
The SC community likes those kind of tedium tasks, but complex technical procedures, (imagine turning on a ship DCS like) not so much
So the game adds a lot of extra steps, like the new inventory and 1 piece at the time looting, the long train and elevator raids (a favorite among SC players, no joking, they like that), long multiple steps in basically all interactions, etc
So it will only get more convoluted from now on, since they are ramping all those promises of extra steps from a decade ago
@@blackworldtraveler3711Same shit different day, they keep going around in loop, just to be able to milk you for your money
check out the engineering game mode in AC with a group of friends.
The coding part seems to be done by the janitor Dave, who knows coding , because he used to sweep the offices at IBM.

im the same, but im also wondering if the "death of a spaceman" announcements has made a difference to other players? for me its harder to commit to the idea theres more punishment than we already have in the future, i feel like my motivation for progress died when thinking about the time spent trying not to lose all my stuff/progress so easily once it comes along. then when the nursa came out right after im uncertain as to where this game is even going, not sure if its safe to get one or just worry about playing something else instead.

A lot of it will orient around engineering gameplay and resource management. Restoring power, replacing batteries, providing food and supplies to settlements -- it's more survival oriented. But if you're not into that kind of thing, then I can see why it wouldn't be terribly interesting.
It seems gameplay wise it would be the same mission styles in a different system, but maybe they have some surprises, like gang reps, armors/rank grinds, gang affiliations etc
But most likely will be the same, same old box missions, old BH missions, old bunker/recks style missions, etc
Remember when this game used to have a fun and cool flight model? Anyways not to change the subject but master modes convinced me that I should get out of the house more

I am at the point I am not exited anymore for new patch because I know it will run like shit as all of them with server 5fps. No patch is going to be playable untill server mesh which would need to work and that is very likely to not meet it's expectations.
Server meshing (static or dynamic) will have to improve server performance by like 500%. No problem! It’ll be easy! Trust us!
this "not until..." narrative keeps the game alive for years by now.
Not hard.

The desync, server errors, random jank, random explosions, and the fact that basically no part of this game actually works, leads me to go "what the hell have you all been doing for 12 years???"
I stopped playing when master modes came out. It just kinda ruined the fun of flying the ships for me.

@@keenandlittle5889 I've been having a lot of fun with X4 Foundations.
Nah. The ONLY reason I, and MANY other people, are not playing is because of master modes. Nothing else.

My sentiments, exactly.
Bravo, agreed
Pro tips:
If you have 20% of a project done, work on the unfinished 80%, not a redo of the finished 20%.

It used to be fun, now it feels like a chore that whacks you on the head with bugs and crashes. I wish them all the best, time is precious.
I really think you have to know by now this behavior is how it always has been with CIG and how it always will be.

OMG I remember this game when I was 14 and completely forgot about it. I remember I couldn’t wait maybe a year or 2 to play it😭😭 but ITS STILL IN ALPHA?! I’m 25 now idk how yall are active with this game
I gave CIG the FINGER a long time ago. I thankfully only lost my initial 50€. They only want to stretch development so they can keep selling ships.
I haven't played because flying simply isn't fun anymore.
4.0 was right around the corner, two years ago...Keep up on your hopium.
I kind of doubt that a wipe would keep very many SC players away. Wipes are kind of common and kind of not a big deal. You should not be playing SC 'for keeps' right now. Most players are well aware of that
It died a long time ago. This is just the nerves twitching long after death.
Master Modes killed Star Citizen. Not 3.24.
A lot of small things are killing SC. Master Modes is just the biggest offender in a long line of them.
Skill issue lol
I contributed so for two reasons:
1. I've been a hard core gamer since the mid-60s (long before video games were ever invented) & want the tech to succeed, and
2. what they are doing already honestly is absolutely amazing.
I'm not jumping in full time right now because the persistent universe isn't really persistent yet. Once I can log out and expect everything to be where I left it when I log back in? That's when Star Citizen will become the game cynics cautioned it would never become ... and the moment I become a full time Star Citizen player.
@@caderatliff3712 man, your time is running out. I hope you'll get sc before... you know.
I am in the opposite camp. There are plenty of ships. Fix them before you make new ones.
Ironic to get an advert for SC before this video!
@Forevergames-vn6gd you're just a basement dwelling troll that doesn't like to see people with different opinions.
This. 'Shit happens' is like a physical law of the universe.
Sure, CIG could avoid more snafus by communicating less, but people would complain about that too, so the best case is for folks to chill tf out and accept that, again, shit happens. 🤷🏿♂️
Well said. Totally agree!
Tried to hop in and see what has changed after a few years and the game just instantly crashes. Will try again when I turn 30 in 10 years.
Intel 13900 or 14900 by any chance? 😂 I've seen SC crash to desktop maybe twice over the past year
@eavdmeer What are you saying 13th and even 14th gen Intel chips are incapable of running SC reliably??
@@simsdiver5201 don't know if you followed the news, but there seem to be major overvolting issues due to faulty microcode. In addition, there was a period where 13900 were produced with a corrosion issue. Both will slowly kill the CPU and make it increasingly unstable. It's not entirely clear how many are affected
@@eavdmeer No haven't been keeping track. At least not since I bought my custom gaming rig last summer. So yeah, this is excellent (and completely belated) news. Wish I'd this consumer purchase info when I bought my $5k+ gaming rig at end summer last year. It's a 13900KS, 64GB, 8TB SSD M.2, Nvidia 4090 leviathan goddess that eats 100% of any AAA game released on the market to date. Also a heavy lifter for graphical/RAM/CPU intensive school work apps like CAD, VS, Oracle DB and various tech stacks. And now I learn I've bought a ticking time bomb. Which will unpredictably erupt sometime in the near future. Then again, somewhat unsurprising. Since I'm the natural first born of Murphy's Law & Bad Karma 😂 Ah well. Seems like I need to start shopping for the -AntiChrist AMD- for a proven Ryzen CPU/MB in the near future 🤑
Kinda feels like as you say, the same issues cropping up again and again
The annual question, is it summer? Have expectations been set? Lol
They call it an alpha.. the reality its not even a pre alpha its a tech demo.. a broken tech demo!
I still enjoy exploring and flying my ship (when it works); there is nothing cooler than waking up in my ship deep in space, eating a veggie Whammer, slamming water, and then picking a direction. Catch you in the black - Phaithless
Yes I am a die hard, but I want something I can play and invite friends to NOW!
Well you and your friends can stick with Elite Dangerous. It works right now, but you won't get a fraction of the features.
@@Billy-bc8pk What a strange and entirely pointless thing to say.
@@NY-Vice It's not, because he wants a functoinal game NOW. And Star Citizen is still heavy in development. So if he wants something that's functional now, you have to settle for something else.
we had it, 3.21/22 the only real big bugs were to bunker missions and Orison ones. Outside of FPS combat it was damn smooth and enjoyable
@@NY-Vice He is a fanboy.
Agree. Drinking and Eating ingame is not fun also
I say this as someone that has only been playing about 4 years...
They need to pull themselves together or this game will die.
other than time off, when has CIG met a timeline? And then they release a super buggy mess despite going through all the pre-testing.
They have never missed a sale event as far as I can recall, and when there's a bug in the store page they fix that within hours. CIG epitomizes the sentiment of 'the faster a phone is answered in sales, the slower it is answered in support.'
They may have a 4.0 evo patch ready almost instantly after 3.24 release
its been +10 years sins I backed this game... and I still dont have a game..
There's definitely more disinterested players posting they are, that's for sure.
What happened in the summer? Nothing, we waited months for the ability for ships to come up on an elevator… it takes them months to release something that small and trivial… unbelievable
It's super weird. When you posted your first video I thought: "interesting voice, who is that new guy?" Now you are one of the old folks around here 😂
My biggest concern is the amount of time that you have to spend preparing and doing everything in which they just seem to keep adding more, and more to.
It’s been over a decade in development and CIG still cannot seem to get it together. And people wonder why it’s falling off.
im not coming back until server meshing is implemented or if an actually good gameplay loop is implemented
My thing is, ehat are we actually testing, its not gameplay and stability
I havent played in a few years. When its done my grand kids will inherit my account
At this progression half their backers will be dead by the time it releases.
