- Check out my first impressions of Belo Horizonte, Brazil. This city is often overshadowed by Rio and Sao Paulo. So, it's mostly unknown. Should you visit? Check out to video and find out more.
Belo Horizonte is the capital city of southeastern Brazil’s Minas Gerais state. Surrounded by mountains, the city’s known for the vast Mineirão Stadium. Built in 1965, the stadium also houses the Brazilian Football Museum. Nearby are Lake Pampulha and the Pampulha Architectural Complex, home to the wavy-topped Church of St. Francis of Assisi, designed by Brazil’s modernist architect Oscar Niemeyer.

Great video, Ivain. Thank you for the tour around the city of Belo Horizonte. The scenery looks amazing. It looks like a beautiful place to visit. Great content. I enjoyed watching 👍👍👍.
Thank you so much for watching! I appreciate that. It’s very slow compared to Rio, but it’s a nice place to visit nonetheless
Boston has the largest group of Brazilians in America. The original immigrants, from what I've heard and read, were from Minas Gerais. The area had connections with America due to its mining business. I've read that a group of engineers from Boston went to Minas Gerais during World War II to extract something called sheet mica that was used in radios and detonators. That's how it all supposedly started. Before long, Brazilians from Minas were arriving in Boston. Savassi where your video ends is very well known for it's an affluent section of Belo Horizonte. For me, I prefer the pace of a place like Belo over that of Rio. The food and beer is supposed to be really good. Anyway, nice video! Thanks for sharing.
This is very interesting feedback. Thank you so much for sharing. I have been reading a lot about this and you are right 100%. It is really refreshing and I truly appreciate that. I have to agree that the pace of Belo Horizonte is better long-term. However, I think it comes from maturity as many people are still on the party stages, thanks a lot for watching!
Be aways welcome to my city! You should have gone up to the mountains behind Pope Square! There’s a park over there just for hiking and the sights are astonishing! God bless you! God bless America!
Cool place! I’m about to serve my mission in Belo Horizonte 🤙
Have fun! It’s an amazing place!

Same in Cameroon. Thanks so much for watching!
I loved my time in Belo Horizonte made lots of friends but the classism and colorism is very rampant there I rather Salvador or rio if you are a black person
Every nice restaurant /bar /club blacks ppl are in the back positions (cleaning/cook) and the eyes that were on me as if I can’t to afford the things I was doing was weird… I went with other white gringos and Brazilians the eyes were glued on me and when I ask my friends why he told me “blks are behind here so when they are in nice places people are curious or disgusted “ but he told me to ignore it for the most part MOST people were super chill
Wow very interesting. I agree with everything you said. It’s a very different place than Salvador for sure.
@@IvainTures exactly man you can actually feel it !! I’m like wait why are these people looking at me like they’ve never seen a blk person there’s way to many blk / mix Brazilians but once you pay attention to the society economic numbers you understand why like I sad go to multiple bars or restaurants you’ll see blacks in the back mix people serving and white ppl the manager 90% of spots we’re exactly like this the closest thing I seen to a black manager was a white passing mix one🤦🏾♂️
I am from BH, I am sorry for the bad situation you went through.. although Brazil society is quite diversed we still face racism...
Wow you surprised me, I speak Portuguese( I am Portuguese Teacher at College here, and I almost born in Brazil, my dad lived there for 15 years, Angola ditador regime mpla, stopped my mother at Angola airport, when she was about to take plane to meet my dad in São Paulo Brazil she was pregnant. , that's the country I am going to retire.
Brazil is my favorite country in the world.
Did you feel safe brother?
@@AngolanAmerican for the most part yes
@@IvainTures thank you
your history is interesting.. so you would be a Brazilian, everyone who was born in Brazil is automatically a Brazilian
You don't call cheese bread. That's an insult. It's Pão de Queijo. Yes, you can speak it.
It's just food. Relax

😂 Welcome to Belo Horizonte ( beautiful horizon). Actually, you're no stranger to this city Which is made of your African brothers and sisters!
In this city you should feel like a colonizer from Mama Africa, having millions of descendants. You brought so many things to the land.
Don't be shy, this place owes you!
Belo Horizonte is NOT pronounced Horizontay it is pronounced Horizonche. In Portuguêse the “T” is pronounced with a CH.
Boa Sorte 👍🏾
Oh good to know! Thanks so much!
