Valid comments for a pro photographer working as a business.
As an amateur when I started in the 1970’s the joy of photography was subjective & I took photos for me, very people saw them. I was absorbed in my hobby.
Now with the advent of digital & SM everyone is trying to put their work out there for sales & need for psychological validation.
I’ve gone back to the good old days I photograph for me & just enjoy my pictures in my happy bubble photography is never dead

Adam after 40-plus years as a pro-nature/landscape photographer, I want to thank you for this timely video. It helped me to reset my mind (Hopefully) about the future of my own photography! Thanks again.

Well said, Adam. Photography gives me a great deal of satisfaction and sense of accomplishment. As a wildlife photographer, I capture a moment in time that will never exactly be repeated again. Same goes for landscape photography. What an incredible and powerful tool we have in our hands. A part of my heart and mind are imprinted on every photo. Thank you again, Adam. You inspire us.

The making of images and the memories that are recalled when viewing our images far outweighs the viewing of other people’s images no matter how fantastic they appear. Photography has been a lifelong passion of mine and will remain so as it is my excuse to explore the world. I write this with three images I have just printed right in front of me and as a result I am right back in Scotland reliving the journey I took 6 months ago. My journey, my experiences, my images make me happy.

Much like you, Adam, I started out with three years in the army and then joined the Met. I later decided to go more exotic and joined the HK Police and spent a decade there, until the handover in 1997. It never crossed my mind to run away from danger. Some automatic response kicks in, in those moments, and you set aside all thoughts of fear and do what has to be done. On one occasion, trying to take down a Triad robbery gang, one of my colleagues had a gun pointed at his head and the gang member pulled the trigger and the pistol jammed, Lucky escape! Other colleagues were not so lucky over the years, of course. But the risk goes with the territory. The key is compartmentalising such experiences and locking them away in a corner of your mind.
I have never given a whit what anyone else thinks of my photos. I take them for my own enjoyment, not theirs!

Like you say get out there and enjoy nature, providing it's not throwing it down with rain.
In the video there is one man that can definitely help, as you know that is Mali.
    Long live Photography.

A great review of Photography..... you mention the physical world, printing is great its like the finishing touch to your image. As for A.I, it will never replace the feeling you get whilst in the landscape when you press that shutter button capturing the elements you braved in that moment 🥰📷👍🏻 I often go out with other like minded photographers and it's the banter you have, the bouncing off each other with ideas that drives you on creating.
    All the best, Daz 📷👍🏻

Powerful stuff. Meaning of life stuff. So often in life things are not about what we think. Photography is so much more than pictures. It’s about experiences, connections, inspiration, joy and wonder. AI will never replace that.

Excellent video, as always. Personally, I shoot for myself. If anyone else likes what I do, great. If not, oh well. Won't stop me. And I'll shoot almost anything (except babies & weddings). It's just fun. I do look at photos by others (how I found you!), but I tend to scroll rather quickly, which means a photo has to be pretty outstanding to catch my attention. And that is what I strive for in my own work -- to be good enough that I'll stop someone scrolling, even if it's for just a few seconds.
to paraphrase another of my favorite photographers once said, it's not about the photography, it's about the outdoor adventure.

Hi Adam, unfortunately I am not able to make your workshop tomorrow. I hope it goes very well. If possible it would be great if you have any info on the myth of how often you should print to save on ink with PRO-1000. Some people say print every day even a small 5x7, other resources say try and save the prints to print all of them at the same time maybe once a week. Thanks Adam!!!

Hey Adam, thank you for your videos. I just found out about you and i am liking and learning a lot with you, so thanks. I have one question please, how do i protect my work from people? means, if i post my work on Instagram or my homepage, how do i protect them from being stolen and used somewhere else without my approval? thanks a million if you take the time to answer me or anyone else. Have a good one!

I definitely think the more technology blends more into our daily lives, the more natural experiences will become an even more commodity as experiences are unique whereas technology can be a source for blandness. That’s why I agree Photography will sustain itself in the longer term as it provides that mechanism to experience uniqueness

100%. It does not mater whether you use the latest camera or a vintage mecanical film camera, the taking of the image is only the first step. The last step is the Print and the most important step. The Print is King as said by Bob Carnie.

I think photography will always survive. Humans create! We are drawn to forms of art and have been for centuries. We all do photography for various reasons. For me it's therapeutic. I did a lot of years in Iraq and Afghanistan and photography reminds me that there is beauty, peace, serenity, and quiet in the world. Out of the chaos I find all the above and create something that instills my faith in this world.

Interesting conversation. In many ways, I am fortunate that I don't rely on photography for a living. It is strictly for my enjoyment. Like the comment below, I don't share my pictures on social media, because for me, the journey is the important part. I don't need validation from others. I do share images with family and friends, and some of them are hanging in their homes. In reference to AI images, I honestly believe they may actually fade away. They may stick around for advertising, but as you stated, they cannot produce certain types of images. I find the AI images to be simple plagiarism of someone else's pictures. Thanks for sharing, Cheers.

The algorithm change on Instagram has brought hobby photography to the end. We knew whether we were doing something good or not by the photographers' likes and comments. Everything is abstract right now. Maybe it's time to enter competitions.

I think you do yourself an injustice my friend.. I don't think you looked like a complete bell end in those goggles at all! 🤣🤣😉😉
You're right about the whole AI thing. As soon as I realise that an image has been created using AI I completely lose interest in it, because it's obvious that IT'S NOT REAL!! I like REAL. I love to go out with my camera and create memories! I do lose inspiration at times, and there are times I really struggle with knowing what to photograph but fortunately that isn't too often.
I have been feeling a bit uninspired recently, which is why I've made some initial inquiries about doing a photography course at college. 😊😊
