  • Grab a cup of coffee and follow along while Tim teaches how to change strings on a scrollhead dulcimer. He’s using his vintage McSpadden.

Thank you! I'm totally new to the mountain dulcimer and this video has helped me tremendously. (The very first time I put strings on I pretty much butchered them. Ha!)

Thankyou! I have acquired an older scroll head and wondered how to replace strings. Very clear instructions!

Thanks so much. I was quite intimidated by the scroll head and changing strings, but this was great!

Thank you for great instructions. I’m a newbie and acquired a dulcimer from a friend to try. Hope to learn and then to get a McSpadden. Which strings do you recommend to use?

So very helpful. Do you have a video on replacing the tuning pegs on a scroll head dulcimer? What kind would you recommend. Mine are not holding and have been tightened as much as possible. Thanks

So if mine has the heart on it ,is that a makers mark?

The heart on a mountain dulcimer is a very common sound hole for many makers. Typically on instruments of many kinds there will be a label inside of the instrument that you can see through a sound hole. This should have some kind of information on who made it or manufacturer...
