    I’ve found ways that the Regional Eurostar service could get from St. Pancras International to the East Coast Main Line and West Coast Main Line.
    East Coast Main Line: There’s a connecting track from St. Pancras International to the East Coast Main Line from the triangle junction between the North London Line, St. Pancras International Station and the High Speed 1.
    West Coast Main Line: There’s a connecting track in the triangle junction between the Richmond-Stratford Line, St. Pancras International Station and the High Speed 1. Trains may also bypass St. Pancras International and go directly onto the North London Line. There is also an elevated line connecting the North London Line near Camden Road station to the West Coast Main Line between Euston station and South Hampstead station.

      Massive disagree lol. But I do think the GNER livery was the best livery the trains wore, better than BR I think. And miles better than NXEC, EC or Virgin Trains / LNER. So glad East Midlands Trains and GWR switched to a similar layout, and Grand Central too but they've had theirs like that for years.

    • @tobygwinnell
      @tobygwinnell 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s a whole bunch of problems unfortunately; there’s some gauging issues further up north of leeds, they ripped the wires to shreds (im sure this could be retrofitted if it became a long term thing), and they are extremely power hungry(remember the speeds these were designed for!)
      All of these issues and you have to remember all the miles through the channel tunnel over the years will have corroded the metals with the salty environment they were in

    They are clearly going faster than 110 mph

  • @NapierNimbus
    @NapierNimbus  12 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I understand they were restricted to 110mph due to pantograph reaction with contact wire issues

    • @robtyman4281
      @robtyman4281 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Seems to me a case of 'cant do, Guv'ner'. If the wires can't take a train travelling at more than 110mph then surely they're not up to the job of handling high speed trains. It all seems absurd to me - but typically British. Other countries find a way round this or just 'upgrade' properly - but not us. We debate about it for ages, then do nothing.

    They should never have got rid of the original Eurostar trains from the East Coast main line. They're faster and more comfortable than the usual class 91 trains.
    When Eurostar began replacing the original Eurostar stock and replacing it with the newer trains, the older stock should have all gone to ply the East Coast main line. What a waste of stock.
    Alot of the original Eurostar trains have now sadly been scrapped. Are there any still operating across the Channel?
