Evire is the ultimate noob pokemon.
They should give Electivire a regional form that is Ice Electric since it's based off a yeti, it will hopefully have a higher base speed. If that happens there will hopefully be a better physical electric stab or will become special attacker, that would be a good change for my favorite Pokémon.
Basically a weavile but electric instead of dark 😂

One cool thing about giving Plasma Fists to Electivire is that if you guess correctly you'll end up turning a normal type move into electric, and give Electivire the Motor speed boost

Instead of icicle crash you could give Evire Iron fist which dose boost plasma fist and obviously ice punch it also makes sense because he has big hands probably give iron fist over vital spirit
That makes total sense. E-vire having Iron Fist as an ability is a great idea, especially if you also give it plasma fist
That was exactly what pokemon radical red did, gave him iron fist plus plasma first. Became a lot better

Electivire’s competitive uselessness is so sad for such a cool Pokémon…
Electivire should be an electric/fighting type, which doesn't exist and is a shame because it is such a badass type combination. With just that change it would make Electivire soooo much better
It’s also worth noting that the Electric/Fighting combo is the only Electric pairing that doesn’t currently exist.
i feel like zeraora should be elec/fighting since it fits it quite well
Should get CC or Iron Fist-boosted drain punch as well
It made it even more confusing that it wasn't Electric/Fighting when it could get Cross Chop all the way back in Gen 2 through Elekid as an egg move. Like, that's just the most random fighting move to give a pokemon but it made it a good opportunity to just make Electivire Fighting type as well.
It should have access to Belly drum. I get why it doesn’t but Magmar and Magmortar can learn it.

Makes sense, dude loves to punch, gets a lof of coverage and overall makes him a more interesting mon.
If you were ever to do this again, I think another good case study would be Flareon, the one evelution that's been given the short end of the stick through every generation and just feels so mishandled.
Another Eeveelution that also needs a buff is Glaceon, and interestingly, both have the same problem of a low speed stat holding them back. Flareon could also really use more good physical fire attacks, it already has flare blitz, but with it's low speed and defense, the moves recoil doesn't help anything
@@matthewkuscienko4616 honestly, if Flareon was just given better moves, swap its spa and speed stats along with replacing guts with an ability like sheer force, technican or even fluffy would make that eeveelution so much better.
Agree, I still don't understand how they made eveelutions based on the special types before the physical/special split, but made Flareon and leafeon physically oriented.
Also glaceon should clearly be faster than cloyster and blastoise, who the hell thought this stat spead made sens ? An agile frail looking ice fox with 110 defense but only 65 speed ?!
Gen 4 is such a weird gen, where they decided to give the most random stat spreads to pokemons despite making zero sens with their designs and inspirations and ruining perfectly good pokemon, for the sake of making them more unic. that's how we got luxray.

With terastalization out, I plan on finding a viable physical set for Flareon; I'm thinking Normal to start?
If I were tasked with making Electivire viable, I would just give it Galvanize and Swords Dance. Galvanize boosted Double-Edge would solve the problem of weak STAB (216 power factoring in STAB and Galvanize) while STAB Galvanize Quick Attack would let it tear through frail offenisve mons. Yes it would still struggle with bulky Ground types, but that's what you've got 5 teammates for.
This right here! Electivire only has 2 abilities anyway, so it'd be super easy to implement.
SD is useless on him with his poor defense and lacklustre speed. Would have no time to set up. It needs better BST spread.
@@muzammilibrahim5011 You could set up on forced switches like Toxapex, Slowbro, Corviknight etc. Against more offensive teams you could just start blasting as a STAB 144 bp move coming off 123 base attack would smash anything that didn’t resist it.
Not saying my ideas would send it to OU but at least it would actually be good in whatever tier it would end up in
@@Quix0tic707 It speed is too low for OU and is too frail. +2 attack is useless when most OU attackers could OHKO it. And it's not fast enough to OHKO them before they attack.

About this, I find Radical Red's changes to Electivire interesting. The lad now is an Electric/Fighting type with Iron Fist as an ability, while as for new moves it gained Aura Sphere, Bulk Up, Close Combat, Mach Punch and Plasma Fists
id see triple axel making more sense than icicle crash
I feel like the stat buffs are too much, since Electivire is already 540 BST (which makes sense because it evolves from a 490 BST mon) but you buffed it up to 583 BST. That's on par with side legends like the Regis or the Swords of Justice. I would probably just keep the moveset buffs, Volt Absorb, base 100 Speed (which would make it 545 BST), and make it Electric/Fighting. For future reference, when giving mons stat buffs, I would recommend not going over 550-555 BST unless they're like a pseudo-legendary or something.
They fail to realize it's the stat distribution that kills it. 540 is more than enough for a pokemon to succeed in the higher tiers as long as you don't mess up the distribution.
@@grizzlyscalp9506 Yeah just look at damn Rillaboom. It's attack and special attack differential is simply unfair. 125 to 60 of I remember correctly. Ridiculous.
Literally the only stat it needs raised is its speed and at the very least back to the same speed as Electabuzz.

@@BlackArche0ps For starters it's the sharpest difference in attacking stats. While Rillaboom had a 65 difference. Emboar had like an 18 attack difference. Emboars special attack will go to waste. And Rillaboom used effectively 40 more stats. That's not even talking about the grassy terrain stab boost which if it had any more attack like Weavile then it would break the game further.
My issue with the bst increase is, it's too much. Evire is 540, at 590 it's stronger than ultra beasts. It would be better to just respec it into a special attacker (with stat spread to give it 125 spa and 100 speed) and buff its movepool with Grass knot, overheat, fire blast, dark pulse and maybe something more. Other than that, very enjoyable vid guys
I think at least slightly bumping up its SpA, Attack, and Speed would be good stat patch-ups. Not overlapping too much with Magmortar's pure Special wallbreaker stat spread. (Ironically Magmortar has had a better competitive history than Electivire, actually being viable in the lower tiers it ends up in while E-Vire is stuck in mediocrity even in Gen 5 RU and Gen 6 NU)
Pokemon like Togekiss and Arcanine have higher BSTs so its not like higher than 540 is too much for a non-legendary. I do agree though that giving it nearly legendary stats is pushing it. The only times they've done for non-legendaries they had to give them awful abilities to offset it. (Though people agree it nerfed them TOO much)
There are already so many special electric types, let ewire be a physical attacker buff it in that way
@@CoffeeFlavoredMilk I would rather keep it a physical attackers may not make it objectively better but you can tell that what it was meant to be especially looking at its design so I would like for it to be buffed with that in mind
It doesn’t need to be made a special attacker, they just need to give physical electric attackers more and better tools.

Loving this format! Recommendation: At 4:05 color code the moves based on type to make them slightly more readable. Also, adding something saying “1hko” or “2hko” to the damage calcs would make it more understandable for non-competitive players
I really like this format of video from you guys! I might suggest making the stats screen (where you add moves and improve the base stats) a little less chaotic by simplifying the layout, toning the colors down, and maybe using a more readable font? Icons of the move types might help too, if you can manage with the space provided. The content was perfect though, keep up the great work! :^)

I feel like “give more number” is such a throwaway answer to make a Pokémon more competitively viable compared to the nuanced approaches like move set and stat RE-allocation. Like yeah, bigger number good, duh.

Zeraora is a perfect example of the fact that a physical electric type totally can work if it gets actually functional stab and movepool, I think the disappointment of electivire burned us for years and we didn’t give the thought enough attention so it’s nice to see a video like this to really see what we learned and where gamefreak went wrong and could’ve done better
What electivires stats should be:
HP: 95
Attack: 130
Defense: 80
Spatk: 112
Spdef: 85
Speed: 100
Then give it the ability iron fist
And add the moves: drain punch, meteor mash, plasma fists

Well, at least Magmortar's attacks are actually scary despite its other weaknesses. Electavire's attacks are just huge whiffs. Honestly I hope both Magmortar and Electavire get a buff somehow in the future.

While in the topic of fixing non-viable Pokémon it would be really cool to see how you would fix Vikavolt. It's such a cool Mon with so much potential but it ended up being slower than it's 1st evo.

Him not getting close combat is a damn crime.
I actually think a simpler set of buffs exist. Take this with a grain of salt, as I'm *by no means* an expert on competitive battling.
(1) Give Electivire Galvanize. You no longer have to add other pokémon's signature moves when you have 144BP STAB Double Edge, or (pre-Gen VIII) 122BP STAB Return.
(2) Also (like others have suggested) give it a secondary Fighting-type. That takes its Fighting coverage from 100BP -> 180BP (after STAB). In addition, Focus Blast is now an actually threatening mixup (assuming that it hits).
(3) In addition to Close Combat, Fire Blast, Overheat, and Grass Knot (which I completely agree with), I think Explosion would be an extremely flavorful addition to Electivire's kit. This gives it a distinct option compared to Zeraora, and will KO lots of things after STAB + Galvanize. Give Electabuzz most of these moves, too (maybe not Explosion haha).
(4) OPTIONAL: trade 10 Sp. Defense for 10 Sp. Attack. Giving Electivire Base Stats 75/123/67/105/73/95. Keeping the BST the same is crucial to keeping it parallel with Magmortar.
Magmortar is also completly ununsable currently so it could also do with some stat buffs.
The actual issue is that tier's are only so big so evire is outclassed by good electric pokemon who are themselve's out classed by better pokemon.
@@XenithShadow Sure enough. Now I've watched a lot of False Swipe Gaming videos where the pokémon is actually much better than the "Untiered" moniker would indicate (e.g. Leafeon in Gen7). But maybe Magmortar really is that bad.
In terms of Magmortar, what do you think of (1) giving Magmortar Mega Launcher as an ability, (2) perhaps making the Pledge moves eligible for a boost, and (3) making Magmortar part Dark, Fighting, or Steel?

Hope you plan on doing more. Would love to see some love for Heracross and Pinsir as well as bringing Sceptile up to speed and my personal favourite; Shiftry. Would be a great series all in all.
In terms of Electivire, not sure why, but I can see him being Electric/Dark or Steel. Dark would make him extremely frail to physical attacks (Rock, Fighting, Ground) so Steel could thematically make more sense. Love the movepool the guys introduced. Makes him OU standard at the very least with good coverage. I'd like to see him represent something akin to Scizor. He already looks the part and share a similarity in stats (High attack) so was thinking of Technician as the alt ability and then to add a relatively low dmg high priority electric move that he can play around. Or just bullet punch might be enough. Up the bulk to the levels discussed in the vid and you have a mon that can be used in a variety of ways to outmanoeuvre tricky targets.
Lots you can do with a mon like Electivire. Really glad this was one of your first.
The font choice for this video was great.
Diamond and pearl is basically when I got into competitive, in the beggining when people like Marriland and Disfunction (I still wonder what happened to them I can’t find them anywhere) were posting their battles, and I’d use the Shoddy simulator. I remember Electivire being used everywhere especially with Gyarados and hiding your Electivire in the back for volt absorb, and it was crazy to see just how fast it had fell off.

yeah these types of videos are where it’s at. getting into the nuances of the game, specific pokémon, and or strategies. the showdown videos were cool but they get stale sometimes. this sort of content will help keep things fresh
There should be a special electric type version of Strengh Sap. Wouldn't fit too well on Electivire, but it would be neat
Electivire is genuinely in my top 10, but he’s also of the most screwed over Pokémon. I love him, but he’s always locked to sucking, being obtuse to get, weirdly late game, or a mix of them. Somehow he’s got the best design, but is hard to use for one reason or another.
It was my favorite competitive Pokemon back in Gen 4 and still one of my favorite designs overall, I loved to bait an electric type attack and then boost my late-game Electsweeper cause there was no Team Preview back then. After gen 4, I always wondered if Motor Drive increasing also SpA and Atk could help it stay meta (same for Zebstrika).

I think as long as Zerora and Regieleki exist Electivire would always struggle to find a place in OU but these improvements would definitely help it find a home in UU and find viability in OU as a fun alternative and even a Regieleki switch in

This is a great format, my only thoughts are the screen is a bit cluttered when you have the new/old movepool and stat changes up at the same time. I’d recommend splitting them up to two screens if you keep this series up!
Electivire becomes electric/fighting and gets access to iron fist boosted plasma fists and also STAB close combat making it OU in radical red showdown.

Now we only need a *history of competitive pokemon series* covering the evolution of the game, important events, history of smogon, notable players, metagames and what was banned and *why* in ou in the past
It is weird that lots of other gaming content has been exactly about these kind of things like magic, yugioh, speedrunningn even starcraft or age of empires have this "history like" content and it always does great when it comes to views.
I think this is why some channels have been exploding lately in the pokemon sphere... nobody does this kind of content and only an experienced player with deep connections to the (old) community could do the proper narration and research.. I wonder WHO that could be... :J

My take on Electivire:
Abilities:
(Updated) Motor Drive: Gain +1 SP when hit with an Electric attack, "and while Electric Terrain is active."
Volt Absorb
New Moves:
Volt Tackle, Close Combat (since Joey treats it like Frank's Red Hot 😂), Fire Punch, Overheat, Grass Knot, and Knock Off.
Stat Boost:
75 / 123 / 67 / 95 / 85 / 95
75 / 123 / 67 / 105 / 85 / 95 (+10 SATK)
Good vid overall, Electivire needs a movepool buff, an ability buff, and a stat buff to be truly competitive. However, some of the changes you guys made were a bit too much and outside of the realm of what the games generally offer like a +50 stat boost instead of a +10 to one or two stats, or at best a +20 to one or two stats (like Gen 6 and Gen 7 did), not to mention Electivire is already BST 540. I agree with pretty much everything else except for Plasma Fist, Fire Blast, and Icicle Crash. While Plasma Fist fits perfectly, I think Legendaries/Mythicals should have their own Exclusive move, and Flamethrower was already a stretch IMO, but Overheat isn't as much, and Pikachu is Pikachu logic of Ice coverage doesn't have to make sense lol. However, Volt Tackle needs to be learnable by every Physical Electric Type, its Electric Flare Blitz which is nothing special, give Pikachu something like Pika Power instead. These changes would make Electivire a threat across each of it's Tiers and give it OU viability alongside Tapu Koko with the updated Motor Drive giving it the speed it needs, but Electric Terrain also boosting Volt Tackle / Rising Voltage.
Cool looking back at this now that elective does have a 100 BP physical electric move and knock off. It even got bulk up

One of my favorite looking mons. Would love this changes. And yes add bulk up and drain punch, but take away fire blast and overheat
Hoping you do more of these, cause i dig the idea and concept of this
Fix Grapploct:
-Make it Fighting/Water (giving it a more respectable set of resistances than it does now)
-Give it moves like Mach Punch, Aqua Jet, Flip Turn, and maybe Storm Throw so that it can actually utilize it's Technichan HA...........and Poison Jab for some fairy coverage (which it completely lakcs)
-maybe give it a 10+ or 15/20+ to Sp. Def and/or HP (both 80 currently), and maybe 10+ to it's Def (base 90 currently)

This was a good video, yeah I’d love to see Electivire become an OU/UU threat and it deserves it.
I’d also wanna see Furret, Ariados, and even non mega Beedrill get some massive buffs cause they deserve it in my opinion
what about giving it sheer force, especially since it loves to run life orb so much. also it might be better design to make it even slower than before as a trade of for bigger improvements otherwise, i feel like that would make sense and make for a cool design.
Icicle Crash doesn't really make much sense for Electivire, since it's not really a pokemon that spawns ice out of nowhere. Pikachu Belle got it becasue it's a gimmick. Electivire isn't a gimmick pokemon. Triple Axel makes at least a lot more sense considering that it's a series of Kicks for a pokemon that gets up close and personal.

I liked what you did here. I would also give it Iron Fist as an alternate non-HA ability, and either Mach Punch or Bullet Punch as a priority move, and also Meteor Mash

I feel like giving it CC and Knock off makes it too generic, love the rest though
I think CC makes sense thematically, I agree Knock Off is too much though
i was just thinking recently, sheer force would be a pretty amazing buff for evire just on its own, and especially with moves like volt tackle. pretty much all its moves are boosted, it would be sorta like a faster, stronger nidoking though with a bit worse typing.
Power whip also sounds nice for evire since it’s got those things on its back to use.
Would’ve prefer iron fist for ice punch and fire punch and a bigger atk boost.

I think the move pool plus 10-15 speed would be the sweet spot
I will never understand why game freak is so obsessed with making the only physical electric type moves you'd ever want to use exclusive. Volt Tackle, Bolt Strike, Plasma Fists, and even Zing Zap. Why are they so adamant not to make a widely available one that's actually good?
I don’t know why, but looking at Electivire makes me think of a new move that’s an elbow drop wrestling style. It could be electric type if you wanted to give it a post introduction signature move like Ariados with poison thread (I think thats its name). That or another potential new move called Circuit Break, where he would inject electricity at his opponents using his cables.

very cool vid! the only thing I feel is that giving Electivire 33 more bst than volcarona (583) is a bit much. i personally think it should get a spa drop and reduced focus as a mixed attacker to accommodate the other stat increases, something like:
hp: 82
attack: 125
defense: 70
special attack: 75
special defense: 88
speed 100
for a more reasonable 540 bst. i’d also give it bulk up so it has a setup option
Pretty neat video! The only issue I have with this is that the +43 bst pushes evire up to 583 bst, which is too high imo. It's higher than minor legends like the beasts and birds. I would have preferred moving around stats and just buffing it to 550-ish range, in my opinion.

I like this. Would like to see more of this kind of content. I find myself thinking about buff's I'd give to my favorites, My favorite being Feraligatr, Giving it a base 90 in Sp. Def & Speed, But nerfing it's Sp. Atk to 70 (Because who needs it). Yeah I liked the video, keep it up.
