    Very very interesting and insightful video! This is a great video and one that I was excited to see when I saw it in my feed! I myself have thought about this and wondered about this as well. I really don’t think there is that much a “batch code” situation here as much as people make it out to be... not like Aventus anyway. I have thought the same... that I think a majority of it is just the fact of the oxidation in the bottle and some of the alcohol content maybe being evaporated, thus making the juice juice thicker and more concentrated from those heavier oils not being as diluted now because of the years that have passed, in addition to the overall maceration of the fragrance. I bet the 2020 version will smell similar 9 years from now, the same that the 2011 smells today in 2020! Anyway, love this video, very insightful!

    Hi Steven, great video!
    I think it's aging and not reformulation the cause of the difference. I have a Chanel Egoist platinum from 1994, which is very different to the current one. It's top notes are somehow "damaged" but when you enter the heart and the dry down, you get a magnificent scent, much stronger and better than the fresh one.
    Greetings from 🇬🇷and stay healthy everyone!

    The best video I've seen in terms of comparison and I agree on almost everything. I don't mean to say that I didn't like the other videos at all but your is the best in my opinion! I think it has to do with the Bottle being open along time and with its maturation and oxidation during the process. By the time I opened the old one it also smelled exactly like this smells now. Just like a wine, a very old bottle of the same brand does not have the same texture or flavor as the new.

  • @justaddlight
    @justaddlight 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    It's true. Sometimes, companies rush the product to market in order to meet the demand and the formula simply doesn't have time to mature. I think that's what may have happened with my bottle of Bentley for Men Intense. Fresh out of the box the performance was nowhere near my decant, nor what was being proclaimed online; but after about 3 months (a full season), I suddenly noticed that the strength nearly doubled, with no additional sprays. This was going from summer to autumn. So yeah, best not to be hasty! What I like to call the "Treebeard approach" 😂

    I find DHI-2020 (sounds like some part of Skynet project) is little bit lighter than previous version. And maybe little bit woody. I sold my almost full 150 ml bottle of 2020 version and hunting on 2007-2011 versions.
    It would be also fantastic to compare DH Parfum old & new version 🔥

      The 2020 version of DHI is actually the same as the 2017 reformulated version. So since 2017 it has not been changed. They just changed the design for 2020.
      DHP hasn't been reformulated at all since it's release. So there's no comparison needed since it's exactly the same fragrance.

    Hi, if you cannot sample the perfume and it is in a cellophane wrapped box, how can you tell that you are buying the version with Iris in it? Are the notes written on the box? Is the box without Iris a different colour? It happens very often that the shop assistants even do not know what you are talking about when you ask them this simple question? Appreciate your response. Thank you.

I honestly think people over on fragrantica post their sentimental opinions rather than actual facts.

    Hi, it's been 3 years since then. Can you tell how this has affected the 2020. I guess the old formula continues to age, but still, maybe the missing notes in the 2020 have already appeared.
    A lot of people have written that the formula hasn't changed, but I personally feel a difference and miss the heaviness of the old formula. I don't know if it's from the aging or not, but to me the new one is lighter and somehow less unique. It's like it's missing the secret ingredient.

    I noticed with this and some other fragrances, on paper they smell almost identical. I struggle on paper to distiguish. On my skin, im noticing more things, just like i do with other frags. The iris especially. Although the 2020 is very nice and a tad more zingy and has wow pop to it, the older one i like the iris more, it was more there and musky. Ive only had the 2020 on my skin for maybe an hour, but im liking both formulations. I think the 2020 is a tad tad more masculine, but i miss that old one. I tend to like more masculine frags like the straight Parfum which i also have, but i got addicted the old iris in the old dior homme intense. Il know by tomorrow my final thoughts.

(not knowing it was "reformulated") and I imidiatly smelled something was off. So I hit youtube and forums and saw it was kinda reformulated. allot of people say they dont smell the difference but I do!! I also had a talk with a dior representative and they said it has NOT been reformulated ( they DID confirm dior homme was reformulated). But me being a avid user of dhi could smell the difference. still a great smell, but it lacks the warmth, depth and richness and ia a bit fresher. I also doesnt lastvas long as the previous version. Im on my swcond bottle of 2020 now. 😊
