When I read your comment, I read: “When I listen to this I alway feel the urge to buy a clock.” Lets just say I was very confused until I read it again!😂
When I saw the movie as a kid I was entirely into the Phantom of the opera and I wanted to be him for Halloween that year. However my school didn’t allow masks so I was out of luck
It never ceases to amaze me that the whole overture can be played by one person on one instrument with not only their hands but their feet as well. Amazing job!
I've never seen anyone play the organ this close before. I had NO IDEA how much footwork is involved compared to a regular piano. Thanks for the great video!
He’s basically just got five keyboards, one below and four manuals up top (up to five manuals in some organs, none of the the seven manual stations that were made survive functionally afaik).
Have you ever seen Jonathan Scott play? There's a video I saw where he was doing something with 4 fingers of one hand on the one keyboard and using the thumb to play a melody on the other keyboard and then doing things with the other three limbs. And watching him trill WITH HIS FOOT is mindblowing. Such talent! I turned pages for an organ recital once and I was almost sweating as much as the organist was just watching. (After the dress rehearsal I was informed that I had been audibly counting the measures WRONG and the organist had still played perfectly anyhow!) When my legs allow me to practice it's all I can do to keep practicing and I'm a beginner. It takes a whole nuther level of patience and control over limbs to be able to do that.
The first movie of the Phantom of the Opera the major star was Claude Rains, an amazing character actor. I was just a young thing when I watched this movie .
Thanks for the comments. Just so everyone knows, the sheet music I have is NOT published. A talented friend of mine arranged this for classical pipe organ. I feel this is the correct tempo for this arrangement, so the large 32' reeds can speak correctly. If it were a broadway synthesizer, then yes, the tempo should be faster. But for the classical pipe organ, I feel this tempo is just right. :)
A big issue some people have, especially playing in large rooms with a classical pipe organ is they'll want to play at the original tempo and it just doesn't feel right. The instrument can't breathe and the room can't decay, so it just becomes a big muddle of notes - there's a few playthroughs of Toccata And Fugue in D Minor where this is an issue. I think just slowing the piece down a touch and letting the instrument breathe and really resonate with the room gave a whole new feel to it. Wonderful work.
the people complaining about the slower tempo and lack of background elements just have an imature taste in this art form, this piece is truly a work of love
Yes! You really are very clean in your playing, Seth. Great arrangement. After all these years, I've never actually had the chance to watch someone play this up close. Bravo!
My god ! This is incredible ! I imagine this is what the phantom must look like playing this song. Using hands and feet at the same time and never hitting a note wrong ! Amazing ! Just absolutely wonderful ! The hours of practice this must have taken
I have not the words to describe how this makes me feel. I am in utter awe! Why is this so insanely attractive to me. Like Sir, can I have your hand in marriage?? Got me feeling like Christine Daae, hypnotised by the Angel's music. You play so well!!! Oh my god, I wish I had better words right now but I am at a loss, this is phenomenal! Might as well call you The Angel of Music, holy cow xoxo
In sleep, he sang to me In dreams, he came That voice which calls to me And speaks my name And do I dream again? For now, I find The phantom of the, opera is here Inside my mind Sing once again with me Our strange duet My power over you Grows stronger yet And though you turn from me To glance behind The phantom of the, opera is there Inside your mind Those who have seen your face Draw back in fear I am the mask you wear It's me they hear Your spirit and your voice In one combined The phantom of the, opera is there Inside your mind Is that the phantom of the opera? Beware the phantom of the opera In all your fantasies You always knew That man and mystery Were both in you And in this labyrinth Where night is blind The phantom of the opera is there Inside your mind Sing, my angel of music
This is wonderful! Is this your own arrangement? If so, I’d be willing to pay for the sheet music, if not, could you tell where I could find the sheet music?
The way to get this song's true power out is to use a really big church organ (the room IS the organ) and jam pack the rest of the instruments in. The sheer amount of volume that you'd get just with an orchestra that big, plus the added natural reverb of the room, need I say more
I've seen the Phantom musical at least 25 times in my life, in New York, LA, London and Las Vegas. Everytime I hear this overture I get the craziest chills!
The absolutely feral joy I get from blasting this on my speakers is such a wonderful feeling! Makes me fall in love with the organ and the Phantom all over again 🥰
@@sethbottmusic780 well put! You have to let the harmonic resonance fill the space and embrace the timbre of the interacting notes before you move on to the next event! Or you were sight reading this piece haha. Sounded incredible though, at any speed :)
É lindo!Me enche os olhos ver algo assim, mas ao mesmo tempo fico pensando o quanto é complicado e difícil tocar órgão...Além de tocar as teclas, ainda tem que ter coordenação motora pra dá atenção as teclas e aos pés!
I don't believe he has only single brain. I cannot imagine trying to operate all 4 extremities independently and at the same time in such coordination as to produce this unbelievable piece. Amazing. Thank you for the experience.
wonderful performance, fantastic arrangement, and incredible skills! i've always wanted to watch the Phantom organ piece performed, and it was even more amazing than i could have imagined. thank you! bravo!
anyone who could play this piece on an organ should bare the honorary title of "The Angel of Music"
Agreed.
I see what you did there 😁😁😏
True .. very true.
I love that this piece is so hard to play, it shows the genius of the Phantom ♡
so basically the devil?
I completely agree. 😁
When i listen to this i always feel the urge to buy a cloak.

"The cathedral"

I agree!!! Amazing
the dislikes are the theater people who fear the phantom ://
A.N. Van Maastricht these things do happen
And Raoul, Carlotta
You don’t gotta fear him just pay his salary and don’t interfere with his romances😂🤷♂️
Dame exactly like is it that hard
That and the sin of recording this video in portrait!
*Heresy!*
How...how can anyone have the amazing brain capacity to do this. He’s doing 4 different things with 4 different limbs!!
Yeah, organists a both the most amazing and most bizarre people of the classical music community
I wholeheartedly agree with both of you on those points.
5 limbs ... please 🧠

Yeah, it’s amazing to think that the whole low section is played by the feet. Organists are a whole new level of multitaskers.
It takes lots of time and many, many hours and even days of continuous practice.
Same here. Very impressive.

The joy this brings me, though, is that it "proves" the "real Phantom of the Opera" could have played this on his pipe organ solo.
Bravo, Monsieur!

1.25x speed sounds just like it!
Why cant i change the speed from my phone ? 😭
@Aaron ENTERPRISE_1701 yes but there is a full orchestra and the sound is kinda edited to sound better
Many thanks!!!!!

Thanks for the clarification! I agree on the tempo. I go back to this performance once in a while. It's stunning. 👏

Perfect tempo. And bro, Andrew used a legit pipe organ for the Overture. But that was what, 20 something years ago?

My life has been pointless up until I found this. The organ only cover sounds amazing, and I honestly prefer the slower tempo. Great Job!
same, way more intense
the people complaining about the slower tempo and lack of background elements just have an imature taste in this art form, this piece is truly a work of love
I like the slower tempo because it sounds more sinister that way!
@@AdamBotha they just don't realise how hard it is to not only play this song but also play it yourself (from what i heard usually two people play it)

It would have been a sin to not post this on youtube. This deserved to be here. Brava Monsieur
Imagine how long it took to learn this and how long it took to play without any mistakes😭😭😭😭 Beautiful job well done.
This is really good, if you close your eyes you can almost hear the overture with everything playing.
Whats an Overture?
That’s a whole workout right there
OMG FINALLY A REALLY AMAZING COVERRRR
Shirohana0w0 . Cover, he played the composition as it was meant to be played. But still a wonderful and unadulterated performance.
@@easycheese6409 I'm just glad it's on an amazing organ and isn't rushed like some other covers, and the deep powerful notes hit exquisitely
Fantastic! Most versions seem so rushed, and this is perfectly paced. Very well done!
Check out the footwork let alone playing the keys!
Im the kind of weird that loves the way his feet are moving to hit the notes ! Its very cool. Idk
i went to bordway and i saw the play and i love it so much because it has a low then high like its really nice and you did a great job plying it

2 years later and I still get chills from this. I can just see the phantom playing this in his lair.
Set at 1:25x speed then you get the overture

This is so dramatic played on the organ. I got chills.
