I was stationed in Naples (AFRSOUTH) from 1981 - 1984, We had earthquakes around Pozzuoli and it was evacuated. The US Forces had a Recreation area in a Crater just west of the crater that explodes in the video. Our main base was in Angano with Naval support base about 2 miles away. They have are now moved north.

Carni Park Navy recreation park. Played golf there, had ship picnics and played softball. The old NATO base was pretty close to Campi Flegrei. They had an awesome audio shop. You could try many of the stereo systems with any of the speakers in the Exchange catalog. I bought Bose 301s after listening to them there.

I took a bus tour to Pompeii in from Rome a number of years ago. Pompeii was magical but of interest here was the 2 hour bumper to bumper traffic through Naples. How could that Metropolitan region possibly be evacuated in hours or even days. It would take weeks and if an eruption was proceeded by sizeable earthquakes, half the roads and highways would be rendered impassable. It would be Pompeii on steroids.

I've been following the development of the Cambi flegrei, i.e. burning fields supervolcano, situation for a year on the channel called "on the Pulse with Silki". The situation has been really worrying for me for the past six months. if the situation escalates, let's all do our best to survive in the future. hopefully there would be no eruption.

Campi, not Cambi. Campi means "fields", Cambi means "changes".

@ sorry, my bad. I am Finnish and my knowledge of Italian is really weak. practically not at all. it's really nice to know that when a letter like this is changed, the meaning of the whole word changes, thank you. There are many such examples in the Finnish language as well, so I appreciate your correction.

Silki is a bit over the top with her videos… she started off great with the Icelandic volcanos but recently she’s just trying a bit too hard and I’m honestly losing interest…

Silki is not a geologist nor volcanologist, she's simply repeating and exaggerating information from other sources, for views.
Campi Flegrei will likely not erupt in the immediate future, but it's definitely showing signs of unrest that need to be monitored, because it COULD potentially erupt anywhere around and within Naples in the future. The signs we study now could be indicative of an eruption in generations to come.
Also an eruption is more likely to be on a smaller VEI scale, such as its previous eruption the Monte Nuovo cinder cone in the 1500s, which would be disastrous for Naples, but not the affect the world, or even Italy as a whole.
It's also worth noting that we don't know of any previous VEI 8 eruption at CF, most volcanologists classify this as the requirement to be labelled a 'super volcano'. The Campanian Ignimbrite eruption referenced in this video was classified as a VEI 7, which of course, is still a major eruptive event.
Silki has a cute doggo though.

Interesting, but incomplete. The advent of seismic tomagrahy shows that Vesivius has several feeder magma chambers laid over the top of each other, one feeding the other. Even more interesting is that there is a very deep source chamber which supplies both chambers. This implies both Vesuvius and Campi Flegrei are part of one much larger supervolcano. They also dont talk about the different types of pyroclastic flows. The column collapse flow and the more deadly base surge that engulfed Herculaneum

The problem is, no matter how much time they may get in advance, it won't be enough to evacuate 3 million people. They would need weeks, perhaps months. Science today is not that good yet, and the best they may do is hours.

This volcano could in theory change the world, it will affect the weather to the rest of the world and there for the growing of food , and feeding of animals for humans to consume, not to mention the volcanics ice age that could happen,. This is not just a problem for Italy, it's a problem for us all

That area is such a disaster waiting to happen. I just hope the government responds appropriately if activity significantly increases.
I understand not wanting to needlessly evacuate, but volcanoes often give very clear warnings.

On a visit to the area I asked residents if they were concerned about eruption. “Oh no, our government will give us plenty of warning”.
My take - no chance in hell to evacuate any of the cities. They do not have super highways like in Florida or the Gulf states for hurricanes. As one person says below it would take months, and then to where? Hang on folks, it is going to get interesting from here.

No, Naples is not in safety and the the evacuation plan is inadequate, but the chances of the eruption being catastrophic are quite low, surely some people will die, but that is the risk of everyone who lives near volcanoes.

Pompeii's demise was AUG 24 and 25, 79 CE, not OCT 24 and 25 as your narrator reported at time 34:53 and it woke up at noon, not at night

Historians now think that the date Pliny gave was incorrect! Archaeologists have found an inscription in Pompeii that was written a couple a months later than 24th August. So they are now altering the date of the explosion.

The narrative said that thousands of people died in Pompeii. I guess the effort to frighten viewers just did not bother to be historically accurate. What about Herculaneum? Did this video intentionally ignore that town and the entire surrounding area? nWEIrD.

The proportion of global CO₂ emissions caused by volcanic activity is comparatively low compared to human activity. According to estimates, volcanoes emit around 0.3 to 0.4 gigatonnes of CO₂ per year worldwide. In comparison, the annual emissions caused by humans in recent years have been around 35 to 40 gigatonnes of CO₂. This means that volcanic emissions account for less than 1 % of total global CO₂ emissions. However, it could be that this is a substantial proportion that accelerates the reaching of tipping points, I imagine.
