I chose surface recently for my amiami orders...I don't mind waiting and its cheaper,plus it'll probably come in the same time us stores get their stock essentially maybe even earlier tbh

DHL can get you packages in a few days for like $60.
UPS can get you packages delivered literally the next day for like $20
Kind of bugs me a bit when people compare premium shipping to basic ground shipping

I'd need to decide based on overall price compared to competitors for a given figure. If they're the only option? So be it. If I've got a cheaper option? I'd go with it.

Yeahhhh... just received an amiami invoice for my ArtFX Endor assembly kit. The price for the item is 18,700 yen. Shipping to Canada is 16,457 yen. DHL is the only option. That's not the amount I'm willing to pay to get it to me. Gonna have to look for an alternative online shop.

I just used EMS instead. DHL is only 1 of 5 shipping methods they offer to international buyers. Obviously not every method is available for every country due to recent world events. Also it is not AmiAmi increasing prices. It is DHL increasing prices in their agreement with AmiAmi. AmiAmi is just passing on the new higher costs.

i preordered mappa’s gojo 1/7 scale figures last year and my payment request came through yesterday and he came over £200 from being a £160 figure and shipping was close to £50 which isn’t unexpected but it was pricey so I cancelled to buy estream’s gojo (£120) and his shipping through dhl was £72….bumping him towards £192 so i settled for Surface parcel which only made him £135 so i saved a lot of money which makes me happy but I just have to wait longer 💔
first time buyer at amiami thats the only thing im hesitant about is not knowing what my shipping will be. I wanna use DHL but EMS seems to be the better route but idk.
DHL is usually pretty quick, not sure as of lately though
My shipping price went up about 6-8 bucks. Not as big as a deal as I thought and still cheaper than some retailers but this was for non-scales but prizes.

What shipping company?
It’s worth noting this isn’t just AmiAmi, other Japanese retailers have had to do it as well as the shipping companies are changing the cost. Mandarake have already upped the prices, CD Japan seem to be as well as I got an extra invoice this last month too. Just adding that because this could be misleading for people. The same happened when EMS went up, it was Japan post calling the shots, not the retailers.

Yesterday I ordered a Megami Device figure for the first time on AmiAmi. The figure costs around 8500 yen or 63 USD (60€). After I placed the order and waited till the shipping cost were Calculated. I was shocked when I saw that the shipping was 6870 yen or around 48 USD.
I am still exited for the model tho :)

I'm Canadian so I only have DHL as an option, it's awful. Recently every time I've ordered something the shipping is almost as much as the figure itself. EMS and surface aren't even options for me

I heard a better option is to order from jp amazon, that’s what I’m doing since the cost to ship is so high for my saber alter figure, I’m in the USA btw.

To answer your question.. Depends on a couple factors:
If the world is "normal" I'd ship with priority from Galactic and it would arrive first, maybe by a day or 2.
That being said even under current circumstances I havent had any issues personally with Galactic Toys or AmiAmi in terms of shipping speed.
Also something to note - generally AmiAmi will get items first due to their geographical location and size of the company. Smaller companies have to wait for manufacturers to ship to them then they can ship to us, they (smaller companies) tend to get them later than larger companies. I think its kind of a priority thing as well as figures having to go to a 3rd party distributor first.

Anyone know where is a good place to shop for figures to Canada that doesn't try to kill you on shipping? 😭 everytime I order off amiami is the shipping is high, then its the conversion, then the customs fees. It's like you're buying one figure for twice the price. I need help.

I've never ordered anything from amiami. I feel like I rather buy from sites for cheaper in the US and wait a bit longer to get them 🤷
That's fair, I'm more inclined to do that as well if it's the better option overall
It's still cheaper to order imports off imports sites even with the shipping increase.
Gotta do price comparisons, make an informed purchase based off your budget the best you can
@@DroobzVids well I mean considering mafex figures are priced at 95-105 before shipping and taxes they will cost more than the $75+ship you'll pay on an import site. Shipping is also usally cheaper if you ship your items together.
