  • When we realised that the Kota Bharu Ramadan Bazaar was only 10 mins walk from our hotel, we just had to make sure to visit before leaving Kelantan.
    Just an unforgettable experience, with such a huge variety of flavours, spices, local Kelantanese dishes and lets not forget kuih sweets. We are so blessed to be in Malaysia for all of Ramadan.
    If you are in the Kuala Lumpur area, please contact us if you would like to join us on our next visit to a Ramadan Bazaar.

    Actually arguably Kota Baru has the most fantastic assortment of kueh, sweets and food sold in Ramadan stalls in Malaysia. To me it beats KL hands down though KL showcases Malay food from all the States in Peninsular Malaysia.

  • @wanistrawberry6274

    Those colorful kuih you got there are called "kuih talam" as they are made in the "talam" or big tray. The main ingredient is the santan (coconut milk) and mix with other stuff depending on what type of kuih talam you want to make. There are soooo many variation of kuih talam. And the kuih that micha ate is actually just "Beledo" or agar agar (jelly), 😂 the bad news is, you definately won't loose any weight being in kelantan during Ramadhan, hahahaha Good luck on your next adventure 😘

    The kuih that u tried is called kuih talam, talam = tray
    The colorful variety depends on the creativity of the kuih maker while the jelly like ones is because its made with jelly..the stall that you went to is actually very famous for their kuih talam..
    The pandan sauce is actually similar to the coconut sauce that u guys tried earlier except that it has u guessed it pandan leaves! In malay we call it 'kaya pandan'
    Glad u guys took the time to explore kota bharu during your stay in kelantan!

  • @Twofix
    @Twofix 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    'Mandy' is referring to smoky flavor. When the rice is done, the cook normally puts a bowl of coal into the pot, pours hot oil on the coal and covers the pot to let the smoke from the coal infuses into the rice for a few minutes.

  • @farhanaanuar
    @farhanaanuar 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for visiting kota bharu !!! it's so rare to see a travel blog on one because kelantan is simply too hot though. And the slippery kuih, the rainbow one we kelantanese call the as 'beledo'. It's basically a fancier version of jelly hahaha. And i hope you guys don't feel bad when people in kelantan don't respond to ur questions that well. Most kelantanese lack proficiency in English. They do understand but they don't know how to react. It's hard for kelantanese to speak English since their accent is too strong and i gotta say it will sound a lil bit funny.
    I hope u guys enjoyed ur stay in kelantan xoxo

    You are on the right time, Kelantan is one of the best state to enjoy the fasting month (read Ramadhan). On night time, you could try "colek" which is some kind of night dessert that only available during Ramadhan. Ask the local about "colek" and I'm pretty sure you will like it!

    Hey guys. Your channel is one of the most content- and knowledge-packed on TH-cam in my opinion, especially on Malaysia! Well done!
    Since you have been in Malaysia for quite some time, I was wondering whether you guys would like to talk a bit about your experience pre-, during and post- election on the 9th May? Because it was such a historic day for us Malaysians, I am sure most of us would love to hear how the atmosphere made tourists/foreigners like you guys felt, being here during the whole thing.
    Anyways, keep up the excellent work you guys!

In case you gonna go there someday you guys should try Keropok lekor, Nasi Dagang, Sata and Nasi Lemak ( not same as nasi lemak from other states). Terengganu also have a lot of beautiful Islands!

    It is called Air Balang.
    Air = Water / Drinks
    Balang = Those drinks containers.
    So in short it is called drinks in containers. Usually there a variety of them. You guys should try sweet corn drinks too! Easy to spot it. In yellow! And “Asam Boi” those drinks rocks!!👍🏼

  • @AhmadFareez
    @AhmadFareez 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Air Balang.
    Air (Are-ye) means water
    Balang (Bar-lung) means jar or container.
    It's basically any types of refreshments that are sold in clear containers and sold street side, no matter what's the flavour.
    #latetotheparty

    Nasi mandy or mandy rice is actually yemen origin. Its gotten popular among the Malays in recent years and theyve adapted the yemeni cuisine by adding south east asian spices(clove,cinnamon etc) to the long grained basmati rice. The rice is cooked along with the meat in a single pot hence in a way the rice absorbed the stock of the meat during the cooking process. The small fried breads is actually a chinese breakfast bread thats usually dipped in soy milk. The local malays adapt by dipping it in sweet coconut sauce(colored with pandan). The square kuehs of small cakes you eat I believe are mostly made of rice flour, coconut milk flavored with beans,fruits corn and then steamed.

    Hi and salam ramadhan to both of u. U know what im so glad that u went to bazar ramadhan at the stadium kota bharu since it was one of the biggest bazar in Kelantan (I guess it is). It was quite crowded with the visitors but that how it was supposed to be. I love watching your videos, visited night market & so on. Maybe both of u could take like a short walk at night near your hotel and try 'Colek'.. U may simply ask the receptionist where u could find 'colek' near to your place. Fyi, colek is kinda food and it has lotsa types. Keep doing your videos and im gonna supporting u ❤️

    Nice! Do come to Penang to explore more exciting and authentic local (Malaysia) food here. Last time my younger brother brought his two friends from France during Ramadhan. They both have a chance to experience Aidilfitri celebration (celebration after the the end of Ramadan) with us.

    Haha Air is not pronounced as in English 'air'. It Aa-ir or a-yer if it's too hard for you. Air generally means water, but for drinks name they are all called 'air', i.e. air teh (tea), air kopi (coffee), air coklat (Chocolate drink), the one you mentioned is Air Balang, just means drinks in the 'bowls' or the many containers you see there. Balang is what the container is called. It can be any flavours, so yeah.
    Mendy rice has no english name, it's like biryani rice, and that's mendy rice.
    Nice documentation though, hope you enjoy malaysia and learn a lot of the food culture. And come back with more prepared research 😁

    Hey girls, Ben from Penang. The Orange colour from the kuih that Justina was eating comes from the saffron spice :) Either that or turmeric but I highly doubt its turmeric considering it was a kuih sweet, as turmeric is curry based.
