    I am French. The numbers were exactly like French (less accent than Quebec French) . The rest was understandable to a degree.

    • @pvagnier
      @pvagnier 8 ปีที่แล้ว +44

      You are right about the different dialect. But the key difference is the grammar which has its roots in West Africa, particularly Benin. That is also where some of the religious practices come from. Some of my Senegalese friends (both Wolof and Fulani) sometimes refer to Hatians as Beninois. I had a Marabout in Casamance (Senegal) explain some of the background. Very interesting stuff.

    • @pvagnier
      @pvagnier 8 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      True you are right. There is obviously a mix. The Senegalese, being mainly Sunni Muslim (sufi) focus on that a bit. Primarily because of the religious aspects. Like here there are stereotypes. For example people from Gabon (fairly oil rich) are viewed as snobs. I guess it is the same stuff everywhere. Just wish Haiti would get a break. Seems like a constant stream of problems, earthquakes, hurricains, etc. Good luck.

    He had me at "sept cent dix-huit, cinq cent quarante-quatre, soixante-dix-huit, quatre-vingt-dix-neuf." 😂😁😄 (I only know the standard French spelling. 😂)
    Oh, and "I'm pale-ing kreyol" (I'm parler-ing créole") too. 😂😁😀

    LMAO literally. Highkey though his impersonation of the Haitian relative was not only spot on, but spoke clearer creole then a lot of these angry mumbled speakers I been hearing since I immigrated here at 5 y/o. I love how understanding and not being able to reciprocrate is more common then I thought but now I'm trying... and lol the "and you wear haitian hats thing" lmao. They really out here telling you you're not really haitian when convenient.
