I have purchased the Highway 600 and fitted it today. At home after first installing it, I picked up 33 stations, this is the norm for the area I live in. Went out to Bangor, reception just fell off continuously until, well frankly it was appalling. Called into Halfords where I bought it, they looked at how I’d fitted it, not wanting to sound big headed, they seemed impressed, concluded that perhaps it was a faulty unit. Bugged me during early evening and I went out to fiddle about with it. I noticed that the magnetic earthing strip wasn’t connecting to the actual roof but a bracing piece, maybe these are bonded to the roof not welded. I drilled a small hole through the brace and the magnet fixed to the roof good and proper. Took the car out for a run, signal was 100% better. So making sure the magnet is properly attached looks to be important. Halfords were willing to exchange the whole kit without quibble even though I’d fitted it.
The only drawback to this unit is the favourite presets. If you change DAB stations frequently You have to hold the button down then turn the knob to find which preset you want.
Hey, is there a way to save multiple stations on the transmitter at the same time? It can be a hassle having to click around alot and do it all over again if the one station I choose didn't work properly. I don't know if this is a feature or not because I didn't find anything in the manual about it, sometimes it takes so long to find the best station for the area. Thank you, I love this product but I really want this feature☹
If I 'purely' (no pun intended) just wanted to use the Bluetooth streaming part of the product and didn't care about DAB do I still need the controller unit? I assume the real business end is the receiver box? I've tried everywhere to find a simple fm/aux bluetooth transmitter that has an external microphone and out of hundreds on the market this is the only thing that is closest. Why do manufacturers believe that a 'built in' mic is actually of any use? . People serious about calling on the move need external mics.

The Highway is simply an external receiver, but the audio is still reproduced by the existing car radio system. Transferring the signal to the car radio is either possible by connecting to an Aux input, or by a selected FM frequency.
All of a sudden mine stopped working and wouldn't pair with the antenna. I have tried resetting and re pairing the controller with the antenna a number of times following the instructions and it still doesn't work now.

Ive got a 600. I installed it today eventually synced phone and got people to be able to hear me. All good so far. I was sitting in my front room and had to go out to the van and unplug the power lead from the socket as the bluetooth would not disconnect. Any ideas?
My Pure Highway 400 intermittently stops display and sticks on whatever setting it last used, when last used on Spotify it seems to log on but doesn't play, the same for bluetooth, only giving about a second of sound before stopping, when it was on Digital radio it will play the last station tuned in and won't change. Now it is looking for antenna connection when display came back on, tried to reset, but will not pair, still playing Digital radio on last selection. How do I reset?

The A pillar would normally be the other place we suggest. Failing that the metal grounding tail can just be left in the box, unconnected from the rest of the Highway. It is an optional part which is there as an addition/boost to aid with signal. You may experience a drop in performance without it.
Ive been trying to update my DAB Highway 600 antenna - i've downloaded the update and unpluggedthe USB cable & plugged it into my PC. But as soon as I do that I can't get my controller to power up and set the USB setting to update. I can plug it back in to the FM USB and it powers up but it doesnt stay active long enough to set it to update then unplug and connect to the PC . Basically its impossible to update by PC it as it wont actually connect! Any ideas?

I installed mine but the antennae simply would not pair with the control. I notice that the connector of the adhesive seemed to be just plastic. Should there be some visible connectors

Hi Nicholas, you're right. A heated windshield can significantly reduce reception. In this case you should consider mounting it on a side window if you drive a 3 door or coupe. BR, Marco
@@PureAudioHQ It is for a Discovery 3. Lots of canin space between dashboard and rear windows although that's where the FM arial is mounted. Also are there any issues with grounding mount with the ally body? I can't be the first person trying this.
@@Livautowerx Nope. What I actually did in the end was to get an unlimited data tariff on my phone, connect that to the pure for bluetooth music and used a radio app on my phone. Since then I've actually put a small tablet PC over the top of the existing SatNav screen and use that like Android Auto for life traffic mapping and radio using the phone as a data carrier.

The Pure Go App adds the ability to tag music tracks and browse and stream music from the Spotify App. All other features such as streaming over Bluetooth, and handling phone calls is possible without the app.
hi, am i able to use google maps with this device so directions come through the cars speakers whilst the DAB radio is on? i have tried using google maps whilst the highway dab is on in aux mode but google maps does not come through the speakers. thanks

Pure go app is ass, can’t connect spotify to it no matter what i do. I have premium, i logged in and pressed the accept button to link it and nothing happened. When i am connected to the highway 400 via bluetooth the music on my phone pauses automatically half a second after i start it.

Window antennae are awful. My advice, always use a roof mounted DAB specific car aerial connected to a 12v source (usually from the rear of the car audio head unit), this way you are pretty much guaranteed a good reception wherever you go.
Why isn't there a iso connection, or hard wire option? all this cabling . power adaptor and control box on the screen makes it look very "Halfords" ive had an older 300di unit, which simply plugged into the iso leads, much neater....

How are you connecting the Highway? Is it through the Auxiliary Line-in port or are you using FM Transmit? Have you ensured that you are powering the unit from the cigarette lighter using our supplied USB adapter? Does your vehicle have a heated windscreen, UV filter or any in-built/external electronics? i.e. sat-nav, dashcam or multimedia system. Are you using the supplied metal grounding tail that slides under the cars headlining?
There are many possibilities why a transmission via FM transmitter can be disturbed. The signals can overlap, be attenuated or interrupted. The built-in electronics of your car can also cause this interference. Basically, a connection via the AUX connection is always the best and safest transmission. I've just fitted the highway 600 to my daughter's vehicle. When she is listening to music from her Spotify through the device after a short time the connection breaks and just goes to static. We have not connected the aux cord because it is not long enough to reach the port in the car, is this the reason it is disconnecting?

Utterly useless. Trim on windscreen on Skoda Yeti is completely adhered to the windscreen. 5 minutes of prising ( as carefully as possible) to create a gap between the two cracked my windscreen. Hopeless design. Avoid!

Just bought the 600 purely for the better handsfree as it was alot cheaper than a new radio works a treat but I would say you need the whole kit

Make sure its pushed right in, the last 2mm are tight, had the same issue, thought mine was fully in but it wasn't quite there.

I installed mine but the antennae simply would not pair with the control. I notice that the connector of the adhesive seemed to be just plastic. Should there be some visible connectors

How well does the DAB ariel work with a heated front screen that has the wires in it effectively working a little like a faraday cage?
Hi Nicholas, you're right. A heated windshield can significantly reduce reception. In this case you should consider mounting it on a side window if you drive a 3 door or coupe. BR, Marco
@@PureAudioHQ It is for a Discovery 3. Lots of canin space between dashboard and rear windows although that's where the FM arial is mounted. Also are there any issues with grounding mount with the ally body? I can't be the first person trying this.
The antenna does not necessarily have to be grounded. However, it is possible that the reception improves when the antenna is grounded.

@@Livautowerx Nope. What I actually did in the end was to get an unlimited data tariff on my phone, connect that to the pure for bluetooth music and used a radio app on my phone. Since then I've actually put a small tablet PC over the top of the existing SatNav screen and use that like Android Auto for life traffic mapping and radio using the phone as a data carrier.
hi , i already have a dab aerial and also a seperate mic ,can i still use the 600 or do you recomend a different model?

You'll be able to find a step by step guide for the upgrade of your Highway 600 antenna.

The Pure Go App adds the ability to tag music tracks and browse and stream music from the Spotify App. All other features such as streaming over Bluetooth, and handling phone calls is possible without the app.
hi, am i able to use google maps with this device so directions come through the cars speakers whilst the DAB radio is on? i have tried using google maps whilst the highway dab is on in aux mode but google maps does not come through the speakers. thanks
There is a function in the Google Maps settings called "Treat announcements like a call" or something like that. Please switch this "on". BR, Marco

Would this work with heated screen ? My front and rear are both heated and a 5 door car so can't use the rear windows ?
Heated windscreens can have a negative effect on reception. Therefore we cannot guarantee an interference-free reception. BR, Marco

Hi Philip. Yes, the Highway can be used with a panoramic roof. If there isn't a fixed, magnetic roof to install the grounding tail then this part can be fitted to an alternative metal/magnetic part of the vehicles bodywork. The A pillar would normally be the other place we suggest.
Failing that the metal grounding tail can just be left in the box, unconnected from the rest of the Highway. It is an optional part which is there as an addition/boost to aid with signal. You may experience a drop in performance without it. Thanks

Pure go app is ass, can’t connect spotify to it no matter what i do. I have premium, i logged in and pressed the accept button to link it and nothing happened. When i am connected to the highway 400 via bluetooth the music on my phone pauses automatically half a second after i start it.

Window antennae are awful. My advice, always use a roof mounted DAB specific car aerial connected to a 12v source (usually from the rear of the car audio head unit), this way you are pretty much guaranteed a good reception wherever you go.
Can i just replace the antenna if i need a DAB or do i need to replace the exsiting wiring ?
Absolutely nothing wrong with them as long as you can fit them properly and aren't a klutz
Why isn't there a iso connection, or hard wire option? all this cabling . power adaptor and control box on the screen makes it look very "Halfords" ive had an older 300di unit, which simply plugged into the iso leads, much neater....

Hello, to connect your phone to the highway via Bluetooth, please follow the steps below:
1. On Highway press the Home key and select SETTINGS - BLUETOOTH - PAIR and then scroll right and select BT MUSIC.
2. DO NOT select SETTINGS - BLUETOOTH - PAIR - PURE GO APP.
3. On the phone pair with the new device called ‘Highway xxxx’ (where xxxx is a unique number for your Highway).
4. DO NOT pair with the device called ‘Pure Go xxxx’.
5. On Highway press the Home key and select BT Music mode
6. DO NOT select Spotify mode.
7. You should now be able play music on your phone via Highway in BT Music mode.

Why am I getting static on my 400 when it's playing a station
How are you connecting the Highway? Is it through the Auxiliary Line-in port or are you using FM Transmit?
Have you ensured that you are powering the unit from the cigarette lighter using our supplied USB adapter?
Does your vehicle have a heated windscreen, UV filter or any in-built/external electronics? i.e. sat-nav, dashcam or multimedia system.
Are you using the supplied metal grounding tail that slides under the cars headlining?

There are many possibilities why a transmission via FM transmitter can be disturbed. The signals can overlap, be attenuated or interrupted. The built-in electronics of your car can also cause this interference. Basically, a connection via the AUX connection is always the best and safest transmission.

I've just fitted the highway 600 to my daughter's vehicle. When she is listening to music from her Spotify through the device after a short time the connection breaks and just goes to static. We have not connected the aux cord because it is not long enough to reach the port in the car, is this the reason it is disconnecting?

Save your time and effort. Just go buy an aftermarket dab radio. These are awful. A nightmare to fit. Nothing sticks. Just not worth the hassle. Going straight back.

Utterly useless. Trim on windscreen on Skoda Yeti is completely adhered to the windscreen. 5 minutes of prising ( as carefully as possible) to create a gap between the two cracked my windscreen. Hopeless design. Avoid!

How far can the cable be split, my aux is in the glove box yet my 12v supply is next to the gear stick.
