    This is just amazing to watch. Do you have to have a visual like a picture to work from? Or do you just do this by memory? How do you know to scale it? This is truly inspirational to watch.

    • @stephanie.kilgast
      @stephanie.kilgast  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +C. C. C Yes I need pictures as these are hyperrealistic sculpts :)
      For the food, I know the scale so well, my eye has adjusted to it (I sculpt in 1:12 scale), but here for the octopus I didn't really care what scale it was, so I just went with what I wanted :D

    This is sooo amazing. What do you use, is it "Fimo" / polymereclay and acrylics? Do you bake it? I wish I would have earholes anymore to put your food earstickers on. Nice greetings from Germany.

    • @stephanie.kilgast
      @stephanie.kilgast  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Annett Zander ja, erst modelliere ich mit Fimo, dann wird es gebacken, dann mit Acrylic Farbe bemalt.
      Es muss aber nicht in dieser Reihenfolgen sein. Man kann auch vor dem Backen mit Acrylic Farbe bemalen, das hat nur die Tendenz die Pinsel zu zerstören. (wegen dem clay denke ich) :)
      (I just assumed you'd speak German, if not, I'll translate it in English :D)

    • @AnnamoonFineArt
      @AnnamoonFineArt 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Stephanie K. PetitPlat danke für die Antwort. Ja mit dem feuchten Fimo würde ich auch nicht drüber malen. Man deine Werke sind der Wahnsinn. Ich wünschte ich könnte so gut modellieren. Ich kann "nur" malen. Hast du schon mal einen Drachen gemacht ala Eragon? Mein Mann fragte mich letztens nach einem Weihnachtsgeschenk, vielleicht werde ich in deinem Shop doch noch fündig. Ich wünsche Dir eine angenehme Nacht.

    Really beautiful, amazing, and all the other great adjectives on here. At first, when Part 2 began and I saw the colors, my stomach fell a little. "Oh no, she's ruined her outstanding sculpture by trying to make it 'fine art'," I thought. But as I watched you create the different corals in the gorgeous colors of the sea, I completely changed my mind. Once again, I have to applaud an artist that took me out of my comfort zone and wrenched me into a new perspective of admiration. I love your Octopus now. And since I admire the intelligence of these very shy and seemingly sweet creatures, I am sure that I would want to be able to buy your sculpture if I found it in a Fine Art Gallery - which is where it belongs. Thank you very much for sharing this.

    I love your channel. Amazing talent, one question I have is after I bake my sculpey firm I was it to get all oils off but it just doesn’t take paint well, very smeary I use acrylics ...do you prime your sculptures first?

    • @stephanie.kilgast
      @stephanie.kilgast  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't prime my sculptures, as I tend to sculpt in colors and then add paint more as a surface treatment. However you can prime the whole sculpture, than paint over it and finally seal with an acrylic varnish.
      Some acrylics can stay slightly sticky, but not to the point of actually smearing. What brand of acrylics to you use?

      @stephanie.kilgast  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, most of my work does. here you go
      "Beriana is an elvish name meaning “The Best Protector”.This octopus sculpture is carrying within her tentacles different corals, protecting them from pollution.
      She’s a genuine loving creature, who enjoys swimming through the ocean and is very protective of her environment.
      With her nine brains, one main and one for each tentacle, she has been thinking a lot about her impact and is trying to make a real change, so she can enjoy fooling around waves with her friends."

    • @Dongerino.
      @Dongerino. 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sadly i must correct you there, Octopi dont have 9 brains. They have one main Ganglion and a smaller one for each arm. These ganglia are just for the motor control, more like our spinal cord and not able to "think".

    • @stephanie.kilgast
