Even worse, it was the telecaster that was given to Jimmy by his childhood friend, and legend in his own right, Jeff Beck! Page had been offered a spot in “the yardbirds” but turned it down and recommended his friend Jeff Beck instead. The telecaster was beck’s thank you to his friend for getting him the gig. Page then hand painted it with his own design, and it became the “dragon tele”… was used to record Led Zeppelin’s debut album… and then gets ruined by some idiot 🤦🏻♂️

I've read this in an interview! Years ago. Page said the guitar was destroyed, and it will never see the light of day again.
It may be in pieces now :(

@bazookajoethompson3407 It was in the book "Light and Shade: Conversations with Jimmy Page" where I read an interview with Page where he describes what happened with that guitar. Basically, the guitar was ruined by one of Jimmy's friends while Jimmy was on tour. Page said the guitar will not see the light of day again. I think.
So... he still has it? It needs to go to the Auction Block! He's still alive. I'll give him $5000.00. For the Ugly Tele.

Ritchie Blackmore has a story about bringing one of his strats to guy for a minor repair and getting it back after the guy "did him a favor" by shaving down the fret board to take out the scalloping.

the problem was the 1st paintjob got into the pickups and ruined it. jimmy then painted it himself and replaced the pickups

No. Jimmy painted the dragon that fender sells, and after his buddy repainted it he never played it live again & the public didnt see it till a couple years ago after a full restoration took place
