You may have created a new opportunity for TH-camrs that might be called an extended short! Packed with information and videography in a shorter/longer time frame. Excellent!
Thanks. I had hoped to get more footage at the state park, but then we got there and realized there were no hiking trails 😆 We made a spur of the moment decision to go the nearby Steamtown and it was fun.
Like 40 👍 Hello from Naples, Florida. The Pothole was interesting, for sure! Steamtown was amazing. Thanks for sharing with us, have a great weekend 👍 💯 ❤
I like these unique places. I also enjoyed your experience at the Steamtown site. It always amazes me of the size of check old locomotives that once roared through our past. Have a happy Thanksgiving.
Yes, when you stand next to some of these locomotives you really get perspective about how big some of them were. Hope you have a happy thanksgiving also!
Wow that was actually really interesting that was cool the miners found it and made it a state park Happy 65th congrats!! I like train places like that sometimes it's hard to get Ron to them but once he goes he does like it. He has spent over 25 years on the train! 😊 I liked these 2 stops a lot! 😊
First here today 🎉 Discovery of the pothole and Steam town. Thanks for the info, the views, and for taking us along. The collections. I enjoyed watching
That’s such a fascinating state park. The pothole was quite deep, and the forest looked beautiful. I’ve never been there before. I really enjoyed the Steam town National Historic Site, those vintage trains and railroad artifacts were incredible. Your video was a real treat. Have an amazing week.
For sure one of the most "unique" state parks in the state, its also one of the furthest from where I live lol, one day ill make it out there. Seeing the inside of the train museum was pretty cool! Thanks for taking us along!
I'm really glad the state preserved this, but it's one of these parks where you are done visiting it in a few minutes. It was great to be able to stop at Steamtown Historic site since it was so close by. If you make it out this way, you could definitely group this state park with other nearby ones that are fairly close like Lackawanna.
Our state park system is really unique in that some parks are huge and others are very small or even just picnic places. We were glad we got to see this one and combining it with the train museum worked well.
Wow, that's one large "pothole." The train museum looked really cool also. Thanks for sharing. It's always great checking off items from a list. Keep it up.
I thought it was neat that the state created this little park around the pothole. The Steamtown historic site is really fantastic. It was great to be able to combine the two places since they were so close.
We have a state park in Minnesota called Interstate State Park and it has several of these odd pothole features that were formed when the last of the glaciers retreated thousands of years ago. I think it is really impressive how they form. The Steamtown National Historic Site looked really interesting too! 😊👍
Cool.. but creepy pothole…Yet interesting 🧐 ..! I was at Steamtown several years ago before I was ever a TH-camr! I’ll be posting a Steamtown slideshow soon! 😊😊
That's great that you've been to Steamtown. I have so many photos of places I've gone prior to TH-cam. I like that you make the slideshow for your previous trips.
The pothole was interesting. I'm glad that they are preserving railroad history since so many old railroads are being converted into trails. Your video makes me want to take a train ride!
oh no its raining but still you had a beautiful place. thank you for sharing your walking videos. i like it. i wish someday i could visit to your place.
Loves the pot hole! 😂 Love the name too. Archibald! There are mine holes are all over the Keweenaw and UP. Copper mining here. Really cool parks and it is awesome you have been to so many parks in PA. I am a train nut so I really enjoyed the that park. 🙌🏻♥️
If you love trains, you would really enjoy the Steamtown historic site. There was also a nearby trolley museum that was closed but would have been neat to check out.
It was the type of park that was perfect for a quick stop. Steamtown historic site is so nice for being free to visit. You could really spend hours there if you were very interested in railroad history.
I would have said sinkhole. I think of potholes as being the holes in roads. Now I guess I need to look up the difference lol. Definitely a unique park. I'd make the stop if I was in the area. I like quirky stuff. Train stuff is always cool to see too. Thanks for showing us these quick stops.
You would love the Glaical potpoles trails in Wisconsin and Minnesota! There is one at Interstate Park and another at St. Croix! 65th state park in Pennsylvania! That's awesome! The train museum looks great too! We have a few of those close by as well. 😊
Did you show one of those pothole trails on your channel? I think I remember watching a video on it before. The train museum is really nice and is a part of the national park system.
This is a very unique discovery, it may be one of those parks when the annual state park pass come in handy and you can visit another park on the same day.
Unlike most states, Pennsylvania has free admission to all their state parks. It's really great and I think it makes me more likely to visit these smaller parks. That would be a smart idea if you had to pay admission to visit two parks in one day.
Not a perfect day for a hike but this sink hole is a real geological marvel. The train has always been my favorite means of transportation and I enjoyed hearing about the history of the railway 👍❤️
Yes, the weather wasn't too good, but we made the best of it. This state park was interesting that it didn't have any trails or amenities - just a parking lot and the pothole. We were glad the train museum was nearby and we could see that too.
The pothole is very cool! We have something similar, Old Tunnel State Park. It's the smallest state park, just an old train tunnel that's not a bat cave.
The park I went by yesterday was alot of sinkholes. It was a small park. A little bigger than that one. The waterfall was a creek flowing into a 100 ft sink hole. Have a wonderful evening my friend's!!!😊
Was the pothole used for swimming at one point? Wasn't the Harry Chapin song "30,000 pounds of bananas" about Scranton? 65th park, impressive. Thanks for the video.
I couldn't find anything about people swimming here. We had a very dry summer and fall, so no water in it. You are right about that song. It does ment Scranton. Also the TV show the office took place in Scranton too.
Well that does seem odd to make a state park around a pot hole! Maybe the land was dedicated for that purpose. Anyway, it provides an opportunity to think about the ice ages and mining history. Cool railroad museum, free admission is a huge bonus! 👌👍👍
Yes and it's an interesting park in that it's really just the pothole and nothing else. There aren't any established trails or other amenities. We were glad to have the Steamtown historic site so close by because we didn't realize how quick our park visit would be.
Actually, if you want to see that exact thing - you should go over to Hiker Dude Dad's channel. He actually lowered his GoPro down the pothole which I thought was such a cool idea!
@hikingoutdoorfamily Thanks for the suggestion, I'll go and take a look at it 👍🏻 I said it as a joke but now I'm curious to see what's at the bottom of the pothole.
Well if there's one state park that represents PA, its a giant pothole lol. I've been to Steamtown, really enjoyed my visit there. the train rides are definitely worth doing if you have some time. They have different day excursions you can take which look interesting.
Haha 😆 Steamtown is really awesome. We were there years ago when our kids were into their train phase as preschoolers. I enjoyed it so much this time because I was able to slow down and read more things. I would love to go back and take a train ride. We also would have liked to see the nearby trolley museum too.
Great share
Wonderful video
Beautiful park 🏞️😊
It is an interesting park. Thanks

This was the type of park that you really only need a few minutes at, so it worked well stopping at the nearby train museum.
The Pothole was certainly intriguing, and Steamtown was remarkable. Thank you for sharing💕
I agree, the pothole is unique. We were impressed with that train collection at Steamtown. Thanks
Awesome spot!

Glad you enjoyed. With the rainy weather and the park being a quick stop, we were happy to visit the train museum.
Interesting place and great to see some green forest 😊
I filmed this one in early fall, so it is nice to see things so green. The current landscape looks much different now.
That is a huge pothole! I think my grandkids would love those trains!
Yes, there is something about trains that kids just love. Thanks
Outstanding share

That was one big pothole! Those old trains are fascinating, congrat's on another state park!
Thanks, I don't think I'll be making a return stop to this park, but it was neat to get another one checked off my list.
Hey there, this was a super cool video. Wanted to stop by and say how much I enjoyed your video. Bringing cheer and support to the channel.
Thank you for watching and supporting the channel!

Very cool areas. PA does have some weirdly named state parks. Thanks for sharing!

Yup, you pretty much stare at the pothole, read the sign and you're done 😆 Steamtown was really cool with so many trains on display.
@@hikingoutdoorfamily LOL! And then check it off the list and add it to the parks seen count😃
That giant pothole is pretty weird. I hope there aren't any prehistoric creatures roaming around down there! Train museums are really neat, too.
This was a short visit to this park. You stare at the pothole and that's about it 😆
Well if there's one state park that represents PA, its a giant pothole lol. I've been to Steamtown, really enjoyed my visit there. the train rides are definitely worth doing if you have some time. They have different day excursions you can take which look interesting.
