I pay close Attention to Everything You Say! By the way; I love the person you've become since you moved to Mexico; You've Grown as a human being.
I suffered a stroke a week after relocating to Morelia. The medical care I received was amazing! My surgery cost roughly 10k, and was in a coma for almost a month. My follow up appointments ran from $4.50 to $10.00 (USD). Had a great recovery! After living here for 2 years, we have NO complaints about anything we've seen in Mexico!
Thank you I am a MD I when to Guadalajara medical school I am working in New York I feel bad for medical students in the USA they have to pay to much for school and they make them take useless classes it’s crazy they spend too much in school we need doctors 🥼 and they make them stay for so long in school to charge more money 💰
I always have racist gringos telling me “Your foods suck, your country sucks, your people suck” etc etc… But Mexico is amazing! I love it in Mexico and it gets such a bad image from the Americans sometimes. Id pick Mexico over U.S.A any day of the week!
I always tell people that if you meet a lady in Mexico make sure that you marry up not down. If her family is not upper middle class you will be expected to support her family with a range of handouts (loans?). You are not just married to your partner, you are married to her extended family.
What a pleasant experience it is to watch your videos. I really like your comparisons and contrasts. You have a very educated way of wording and structuring your sentences and thoughts. Very well spoken and practical virtual friend. Thank you
LOTS of face time, but you do it well...AND THANKS for giving us a very nice view of Querétaro behind you. Many of my favorite corners of the city! THANKS!
I appreciate your honesty regarding the racism/colorism that exists in Mexico. Black Americans can avoid much of it but not 100% based on some of the stories I’ve read in expat FB groups.
Great video, but it always amazes me when people talk about safety in Mexico. Compare the FBI crime stats and will see that living in the US is much less safe than in Mexico. Of course, if you are interested in getting involved in the drug trade, like in the US, you're on you're own. I lived in Mexico for many years and never once did I encounter a situation in which I felt physically vulnerable. I have been mugged twice in the US. The prejudice found in Mexico is directed primarily at the poor, just as in the US. If you have means, regardless of you skin, you can go where you want and live where you want. One thing of note, more and more lower and middle class Mexicans are being evicted from their homes so that their homes can be sold or rented to US or Canadians. And people wonder why foreigners are less welcome?
Can you please make a video about your business ideas? Me and my wife are looking to move to Mexico in the next 1 to 2 years also I’m a fan of your channel. I would love your opinion. I am also a veteran and would be interested in opening a business in Mexico, thank you so much for your content.
I was wondering about this too, but I've heard a lot about cartel, and cartel imposters, harassing business owners for payment to have a business. I'd like more real time information about this. That said, I'd rather pay some money to a gangster than pay over 40% taxes to the Canadian government for things that aren't a good use of tax money.
@@stop_and_smell_the_roses This subject is important to discuss. A high visibility business like a Cantina would need " protection" An internet based business not likely. You need to get to know a few local business owners to find out what the "rules of the game" are in your town.
Welcome to paradise, even if it is not perfect! I moved permanently to Mexico 20 years ago upon retiring. I watch your videos and others to stay tuned with the expat community. Your videos give very good advice to new comers. They also show your progress as you learn more about this country, not only about gorgeous cities great food and diverse geography. One area lacking though is the history between the US and Mexico. Like you say some Mexicans resent the ever increasing inflow of US immigrants that are creating some hardships for some as this influx causes increasing prices for many. Historically, the vicinity of the US has been detrimental to Mexico and many Mexicans have valid reasons for concern. Have you studied the history of the relationship between the two countries? Mexico has a problem with illegal drugs production, traffic and violence only because the US has the worlds biggest market for these products. I still feel safer here than in the US.
Have you read the history of us-mx relations? Usa is the biggest consumer of almost every product. So in your logic, the states are responsable for every industry in the world. Read about Alta California and the Mexican American war and land grants and stuff like that. The relationship is way better than that now but could’ve been way worse. The American government sends billions of dollars every year to Mexico. What are we talking about here? Like what!?!? Why is the vice versa scenario of Mexicans into the USA not even brought up in any of these comments. It kinda matters to the whole discussion.
Also the us has offered to stop the drug production in Mexico with the military. Mexican government declined so stop. The us government wants pfizer or another pharmacy to make all the drugs they want and contribute to campaigns. Laughable to say the us wants Mexico to make their drugs. We’d rather make them here, Mexico just has them cheaper. And talk about china too dude and the influence of drugs. A la verrr
@@nickcormier5993 Dude you need to do some research, if any. The U.S sells guns and ammo especially 50 caliber riffles with their loose gun laws loop holes, your country is full of junkies #1 in the world that's a Fact, Mexicans & Mexico will never allow u.s military on their soil 😂 your ridiculous to even think it's a form of helping out the very problem your people create for us Mexicans.
@@alexdelgado1440 I’ll agree the comment about usa military coming in was strange because that just isn’t feasible but it was offered. Yeah we sell guns and that’s not an insult to me or what I consider unjust. Mexican gov invites usa soldiers all the time to train and arm them. Also again yes we consume the most of everything so you’re saying every industry is created and dependent on the usa. I disagree with your assessment.
In the US, there are dangers, but I am dangerous to the dangerous people because I'm allowed to own and carry a gun. In Mexico, it is only the criminals that are armed and dangerous. If the police catch an expat with a firearm for any reason they will make a very clear and painful example of you. For that reason, my answer will always be "no" to living in Mexico.
All very valid points for both the pros and cons. We've been in Zakia for about a month so far and love it - very safe and in a gated community, but we plan to move around every couple of months to try out different parts of Mexico, so that won't always be the case. The potential dangers are never far from our minds, including carjackings. In fact, we took some extra precautions before moving here to install a cage around our catalytic converter and install a kill switch in the car.
I love Mexico! We visit there often. If I were a Mexican, I might resent Americans’ coming there to live because it tends to raise THEIR cost of living because we have more money than they do. When we go visit, I spend a lot and tip very heavily. My wife doesn’t speak Spanish, so even though I am not fluent, I try to conduct myself entirely in Spanish, mistakes and all. If you have a “borderline” not quite enough money to live in the US, in MX you will increase your standard of living at least 35% better. However, if you can afford it, tip at least 20-30%. Mexicans got very heavily damaged by Covid. You should do your part to help them. Sanjosemike (no longer in CA)
I love the video. It was very informative and interesting. I would like to retire in Mexico City. Right now I live in Laguna Beach CA and is pretty but as soon as my wife approves, I want to move to Mexico City. Thank you !!!

I remember you mentioning, in a past video, that you have a friend who did very well selling specific “unavailable” things on amazon: I asked in the comments, on your FB, etc if you’d please tell us more about what he does but I guess it got lost in the many comments you get 🤔🤗 I’d love to hear more! 🇲🇽🧳🙌🏻
My American friends there's so many much places around the Mexican country very cheap and beautiful that people never mention. Durango its a beautiful colonial city its a big northern state. We have a variety of pueblos. Very beautiful. But the Sierra Madre it's onother world
Thanks Jordan: Nice presentation!!! I just need to sell my home and I'll be there as well as traveling to other sites, too, like the Philippines, Spain, Brazil, etc. I love being abroad and esp. like Mexico, Brazil and other countries, too, but I'd love to help some deserving people find opportunities to provide better for their families.
Hello, we are planning to move to Mexico and start a business. I would appreciate your input. Wife is American and I am Mexican. We both have Mexican citizenship. Thank you, your input is always great!
I took my kid to an urgent care and they tested him for strep. That's all. $316 bill just came. I have insurance and work for the company we went to. This is all gonna fall apart and I'm gonna be in Mexico!
Hi Jordan, I've followed you from the beginning and love your channel. Thank you for continuing. I worked in the gaming industry for 18 years until covid shut down my job and has still yet to reopen. Luckily, I was going to nursing school and graduated in 2020 in the height of the pandemic, and have been employed as a nurse since. When I was in the casino industry I could take a month off every summer and spent in it in Mexico every summer with my kids... in a small pueblo south of Cancun that we love. I know nurses don't get paid much in Mexico. My plan is still to retire early in Mexico asap. Any ideas for making money besides working my tush off for 20 more years? I can deal private poker games for anyone that's interested lol or do private duty nursing for expats. If you have any idea let me know. I've also been a pyrotechnic, ran a cafe for 10 years, managed a herb and holistic center and studied herbalism for 15 years. I'm well rounded. :)
Get a union job with a good pension payout. I've been a bus driver for 15 years, I started late, and I'm 54. At 55 (minimum retirement age) i "can" retire and collect $2500 for having only worked 16 years? I plan to stay on til age 60 for around $3500, and I still get Social Security at 62 or later. I'm willing to bet a union RN Nurse would do better! It may not be the the fun or flexible job, but there's no having your cake and eating it.
I’d like to know more about that growing resentment of foreigners among Mexicans. I’ve read some anti foreigner comments online (Reddit) and seen some TH-cam videos about gentrification in CDMX and the resentment it’s creating, at least among some Mexicans. I just wonder how prevalent it is. Have you experienced it yourself? Is it aimed only at certain types of foreigners like the ones that refused to learn Spanish…?
This has concerned me too. I definitely take good care not to rock the boat as a visitor here, and so far I haven't experienced resentment. Maybe it helps that I try to speak in their language as often as I can.
In summary, american immigrants are gentrifying certain parts of Mexico, especially Cdmx making it impossible for locals to continue living in their own city. That's why there has been a lot of backlash. Some individuals have been arrogant where they're located just because of their wealth .
I just lost my job, my home, friends, my girlfriend. Everything is so bad right now. I'm only seeing 2 options for myself and 1 of the options is to move to Queretaro. What kind of jobs would even be possible for me down there? As I barely speak any spanish.
I know where you’re at bro. I understand, but be careful, Mexico is not the answer. They might be nice to your face, but rest assured they resent your presence. Go to Thailand on a 6 month Multiple entry visa and teach online, travel around Asia, be around people who appreciate and respect you.
Im mexican and the reason why i think mexicans dont like foreigners living here is because they raise the cost of living, for americans everything in mexico is cheap because they earn in dollars but for mexicans it isn't, jobs here don't pay that well, and americans are making things much more expensive and now affording life as mexicans is way harder, also the government is part of the reason, they are making easier for foreigners to live in mexico, they are even paying some of them, but they don't have money for the things that are necessary for mexican society
One night I had two men point guns in my face, hold me up and then tried to force me into a waiting car. I was able to escape and live to tell the story thankfully. This happened in a US city in a "good" neighborhood. There are dangers everywhere in the world and you always need to be aware of your surrounds. Mexico has the same problems of course but the stories get overblown. In '21 out of about 30 million americans who lived and or traveled to MX, 75 died of homicide. That's a pretty low number. Avoid the dangerous areas like the boarder towns/cities.
I have a good friend who is very dark, born in Acapulco, very beautiful black black skin, Mexican skin, and he is treated very different in Quintana Roo, we were trying to get a taxi with the family for hours, I stepped away as a gringo for a test and instant taxi!
We just spent a few days under a month in the fringe of Mazatlan and the people were wonderful. The women were beautiful and kind. We have been back in the US for two months and both of us and think about and want to move to Mexico nearly every day. I grew up and we still live in a small town, The entire country that we experience. Everyone was kind, greated us friendly and wanted to help. They live like everyone should. Unlike the majority of people living in the states.
Its not simply about stronger vs weaker currency. USD has been dropping in Peso terms for the last year or so. Counterintuitive, maybe, but true. Meanwhile minimum wage in Mexico is about $10/day so yeah theres that.
at 12:15 also you forgot to mention, if you have a mom and dad who were both born in Mexico and you were born in the USA or other country you can easily receive your dual citizenship in Mexico (become a México citizen) I got my Mexico citizen that way.
I'm getting mine because my wife is a Mexican citizen. Being married to a Mexican citizen, also eliminates the minimum income requirements. I make more than the minimum, but don't have provide proof. Being over 60 years old, precludes me from having to take any citizenship tests as well.
Muchas gracias for the very good information and your very honest thoughts. As someone considering Mexico as a future destination, I appreciate your insights.

I can't blame people for not wanting foreigners because it drives up inflation and makes it unlivable for working people who can't afford the prices. The Chinese came in to the west of Canada, bought up property and drove the real estate prices up. I had to move if I wanted to have a easier financial life. That said, any country like Mx that has lots of people immigrate out of their country have no room to complain when people immigrate in.
Thanks for your reply. I know Jordan doesn't like to talk about politics or religion, but in this case I need to address the political issues and human nature present in everybody I've ever met worldwide, because it's a big part of this conversation topic. I hope this is read and taken with the kindness that I have in my heart as I'm typing it. I recently watched a female comedian joking about why western people call themselves expats while the rest of the world are called immigrants. When I first heard the word expats I had no idea what it was, and I think it's a very bad habit that should end immediately. If I move to a different country I'll make sure I'm called an immigrant. To be fair, most people who have ever moved to Canada haven't moved here because they like Canada. I've known a few people from the Netherlands who wanted to live in the mountains of western Canada, but that's generally the exception and not the norm. Everybody I know moved because of finances or freedoms. My ancestors were part of that group. In the early history of Canada people from warmer countries didn't want to move here. Who could blame them. People from Europe, with simillar winters were given incentives to move to Canada, like land grabs. Even then many found winters too cold and left. Canadians are generally welcoming to all people 😃 from any country, it's the government incentives that people object to -- not the people. The same has been true of Aboriginals who historically objected to early immigration for mamy reasons, one of those reasons was because they weren't getting the same perks and incentives as the immigrants, although they were born in the country. They would get angry at immigrants for taking their land, but also for not being able to have the same options. Around the year 2000 Canada noticed that the country wasn't very multicultural. The gov wanted to change that and many news articles discussed this topic. They used the same technique to bring people into the country as they did in early history, using political assylum and *financial* incentives. Every person I ever spoke to from a warm climate came for financial incentives or political assylum. Right this minute it's -25 Celsius with a wind chill, so again, I can't blame anyone for not putting Canada first on their list. As a matter of fact, so few people from warmer countries wanted to come here, so if they wanted to leave their country the immigration offices didn't give them a choice as to where they could move. They had to move to Canada and were told they had to arrive in a specific city. After a few years of residency they can move. If they chose to move to Canada, for incentives, they were told what city to move to without a choice. Of course these cities are locations that the government wants to be multicultural and again, nobody wants to immigrate there. *The Canadian government is still operating this way today.* The same happened with my ancestors back in late 1800's. They were told they had to live in Saskatchewan. Yeah, google the temperature in Wolseley, Saskatchewan right now and reduce that temp by 10 to 15 degrees for wind chill, and you quickly see why I left that cute little town as soon as I was old enough. Not only the cold winters, but jobs are scarce in that small town. People move away for finances. Some people immigrating to Canada get incentives like free housing for a period of time, or free education, and some are lured by the illusion of free health care, only to realize that health care costs a lot of money in taxes, and a quasi-socialist country isn't the best place for hard working laborers. Since early history people from warmer countries rarely immigrated past the southern USA states. That's why the gov needed financial or job incentives to come further north. Many Canadians get angry, not at the people immigrating here, but because they've lived here their whole lives and don't get the perks that some immigrants have had. I can completely understand why aboriginals got upset for the same reason. Not all people moving here get perks. If people have a higher income they'll have to buy a car, or some other financial expense in the country. The government has always been divisive in this regard and cater to the poorer immigrants... give me your poor, your sick, etcetra. However, people with little to no money can get more incentives, like free education or business help. Some immigrants get a health card number and don't have to pay for physio, dental, or other treatments that people born here would have to pay out of pocket. Government has always been divisive, so when people get angry it's at the gov, not at the person who is trying to take the gov up on their incentive programs. It's human nature to take financial incentives when offered, so people can't be blamed, but you can see how this could cause division and anger. To make matters even more difficult, back when Nepal had an earthquake the gov was advertising to help people immigrate who were mentally and physically disabled. They would get a lot of perks and financial help. At that time I had a car crash and lost my job. I had to work in the sector where people are disabled. The only way I could get gov help is if I lost my house and car and had very minimal assets, so instead of that I tried to work with severe injuries in a field that wouldn't disqualify me for injuries. In other words, I would have had to be financially left with nothing before the gov would help me. So, one of my clients was a family from Nepal who got people to come in to their home to help them claiming they had a disabled child. I couldn't notice that the child had any disability, but they didn't speak English, so I wondered what was going on. The mother didn't work, and neither did the father. He was drunk at any time of day. They got a lot of free financial aid, including free housing and a health card that allowed them free physio, massage, pharmacy, dental and doctor visits. I wasn't angry with the people from Nepal, I was angry with the governement, because people who were born here haven't gotten those same perks. I would have had to lose everything to get a little help, which comes in the form of getting a pass to get food from a food bank. Even though I pay over 40% taxes I would have had to have no assets to get assistance for a one bedroom apartment. Many people from up north move for a warmer climate, but again, climate is something that most people consider when moving. I agree though that it's annoying when people move to a different country and complain that it's not like their home. You may be interested to know that every single person I know who moved to Canada do the same thing in Canada. It's a human trait we all share, and not something specific to North Americans, although people from USA seem to make their opinion known more than people from other countries. Here's just one example of many: Long ago, back in the late 90's I became good friends with a woman who moved from Peru. She got married to a man here. She learned the language and had 2 kids, but she hated it here. She missed her city Ariquippa. Her mom and dad told her she needed to marry the guy from Canada to better her financial future. One day she asked me to come over and visit. She was depressed and told me she was leaving her kids and husband to move back to Peru. She missed it so much and complained non-stop about how Canada wasn't like Ariquippa. She wasn't in love with the man, but I told her she would miss her kids, wouldn't she? She didn't reply. She would have done anything to leave. She said she would die of cancer soon so she could leave. She was my best friend. I suggested she go back home 3 times a year for 1 month stays, but she said she would never leave if she went home. People all around the world move for financial prospects, and political assylum. Not just North American people, although I suspect Mexico sees more immigrants from North America for the reason that it's closer to North America and they can travel faster. Sadly, Canada's quasi-socialism is turning communist so for a few minutes I was considering taking New Mexico USA up on their offer of providing Canadians with political assylum. I love New Mexico, and have been there before, love the weather, but the country of USA? Dear God no! I'd be jumping from the fire into the frying pan, as the saying goes. The 2020 BLM issue that swept through USA was politically funded by the blue party, and other political groups. I would not pay high taxes to potentially endure that again. Money makes the world go round. That's the reality of living on our planet. Are you saying Mexican people aren't this way? because I know a number of dear Mexican people who immigrated to Canada who would say otherwise. All the people moving through Queratro to go to USA are going for job financial reasons. Only wealthy people can move around their country without needing to factor in money, otherwise the fact is that people make their relocation choices based on job, finances. People do it within a country and also within the wider scope of our world. I say this with polite inquiry, because it appears there's more going on with international immigrants in all parts of the world than just wanting to move because they like the country. Although, yes, Mexico is a wonderful country with government pros and cons like every other place that cause problems for people. I think if I were to move to any corner of our world, it would be a Greek Island, just because I like the water and land, and overall vibe, and most islands are pretty safe. But, I can't because I don't have the money to live there. I know right? 😀 Hope that helps explain things better . All the best to you gentle stranger.
@@jazmin6031 💕 I like Mexicans and foreigners in general. I like respectful people no matter where their from. You are always welcome to our little corner of our world in Canada, we get so few tourists in this city. But know that right now the current temperature is -42 Celsius with a wind chill that will take it even lower in the middle of the night. The word bone chilling describes how the bones feel in this kind of cold. ❄️☃️ In 2023 I'm selling my house, vehicles and liquidating all national assets and finding out where in our world I want to live. First stop is Guatemala, but will be driving through Mexico and would love to stop and say hi, share a meal and have a smile or 2. I am planning to invest in a business somewhere in our big world... just not sure where yet. It is quite expensive to relocate to other countries, and I'm very thankful that I'm in a spot where I can, because so many people in Canada have no financial choice but to stay here. Canada is unfortuantely not for people like me who don't want to live in a communist country where we have to pay over 40% taxes to a government that hands out millions and millions of dollars to charities around the world, while in this country there are so many people struggling. The visual landscape is beautiful , even in the winter, but in Canada it's the socialist government that ruins it for me. All the best to you gentle stranger.
The difference is most of us know the lay of the land because it's our home turf. New country with the same dangers per say except not knowing the lay of the land makes it more risky.
I have several business ideas but one is I'm a home inspector in the states and have been wondering if that could be a desired service for expats buying properties.

Hi, and love the videos. I do have a question on a business type in Mexico. I have a shoe restoring business now. I clean, restore, reglue, repaint and can customize sneakers, Jordan's sneakers mostly, but not exclusive. Do you see a big Jordan sneaker community or even in some of the tourist areas, could it work in Mexico?
Great video! Very informative. Comparing these cities (living in an decent area), which do you prefer - considering safety, strong economy - lots of opportunities for investment, plus a cooler climate: Queretaro, Aguascalientes and Puebla?

Can you please make a video about your business ideas? Me and my wife are looking to move to Mexico in the next 1 to 2 years also I’m a fan of your channel. I would love your opinion. I am also a veteran and would be interested in opening a business in Mexico, thank you so much for your content.
I would like to see a discussion of business ideas. I have a number of ideas. I've been living here for almost five years. I see many opportunities.
A high visibility business like a Cantina would need " protection"
An internet based business not likely.
You need to get to know a few local business owners to find out what the "rules of the game" are in your town.
Hows the visa situation now? I hold a New Zealand passport, would love to move to Mexico City for a year or 2..
A la verrr

Great video--and you are so right about the classism and prejudice against darker skinned people!

Well put!! Amen
Don't travel at night and be safe. Have a great time in Mexico!
Yes, please make a video about starting a business and the opportunities you see.

A lot of what you said about dangers, these things happen all over the U.S.

the idea of foreigners not coming there is ironic if you're American

What an amazing video!
SO accurate!
Do you keep a place in the US, just in case you have to come back?
You've covered a lot of reasons for both sides, Jordan. Good job!
Good morning Jordan.
I’d really enjoy going over some of your business ideas
I’m very motivated to move to Mexico and take on new challenges.
You can't go to Mexico and just get a job it don't work like that
Get a union job with a good pension payout.
@@Chris-gi9ch Yes, that's my plan if I cant figure anything out sooner :)
That's because like everywhere else USA expats wanna make it just like back instead of blending in and assimilate to the Mexican culture
This has concerned me too. I definitely take good care not to rock the boat as a visitor here, and so far I haven't experienced resentment. Maybe it helps that I try to speak in their language as often as I can.
Just hate USA from Mexico because you supported Trump as president
In summary, american immigrants are gentrifying certain parts of Mexico, especially Cdmx making it impossible for locals to continue living in their own city. That's why there has been a lot of backlash. Some individuals have been arrogant where they're located just because of their wealth .
The advice on male to female ratio in puerto vallarta would have been useful to me as a single guy 5 years ago. Now im engaged.
I still say you are totally right. I can’t even write my book now. We should speak as an American & Rican.
Loved the video. Would love to hear your thoughts on business ideas as I will be relocating to Mexico in the next 12 months.
Where would be better to live, Mexico, or Brazil?

I grew up and we still live in a small town, The entire country that we experience. Everyone was kind, greated us friendly and wanted to help. They live like everyone should. Unlike the majority of people living in the states.

I thought you need income of $5400 a month for resident visa or $60,000 in a savings . Is this true?

To move to Mexico, you need money coming in or money in the bank. Many of the Americans who come to Mexico work remotely.
The business idea video would be good.
*The Canadian government is still operating this way today.*
The same happened with my ancestors back in late 1800's.
😀
Hope that helps explain things better . All the best to you gentle stranger.
