With regards to the beer filter is that a 7cm x 29cm one and have you modified it in any way or just dropped it in the middle pipe. I’m looking for a solution for my elderly father-in-law. He has the fully automatic version on a small pond and this looks like a good solution to fines. I just need to make sure he can get it out and clean it.
Yes that size will fit. It doesn’t need modifying you can just put it straight in. Some water will pass down the sides but that’s safer as it can’t ever fully block then. I cut the base off a plant pot and slid the strainer inside the plant pot.
I currently flush the tempest daily of an evening and let the trickle in top the pond back up during the night. Possibly not necessary to do it that often. When I first installed it I left it a few weeks to mature which seemed to be a mistake as it was hard cleaning it after that amount of time.

Can I ask how often you clean the tempest running from your skimmer as I was thinking of doing the same
