This was the best yachting career prep video I've ever seen. Well done Chase. 👍
Thank you!!!
Good video. Our son took up this career, left college just before his 18th to start his first job in Greece on charter yachts, got loads of tickets then qualified as en engineer. Now at 22 he is working on a 90m super yacht currently in Palm Beach, loving it. At times I think chose the wrong career!
Wow! Your son is crushing it! Thanks for the comment, I hope somebody takes some encouragement from your son’s success!!
@@ChasingGrace21 so does this mean that even non college graduates can become a deck officer on superyachts sir?
Dang I'm sold! Only 15 years late! That was a great video and truly shows your professionalism.
Thank you !!!
I spent a summer in Antibes 10 years ago as I had friends working there (we're all Aussies) we had such a fun summer and most of the people we met were in the yachting industry. Now all of those terms they kept saying make so much more sense after your video! ha ha Great stuff, and congratulation on buying your own boat. That is amazing!
That was a great collection of info!
I did a similar path post college,,, although it was 50 years ago
Lots of changes in the industry! But much still the same (my first job on a 90’ yawl paid $200 cash a month-and I managed to save money still
The industry offers exposure to so many different avenues of life options.
Endless possibilities!
(Just look at you!)
Thanks for sharing! A lot has definitely changed! 90’ yawl sounds unreal!

Great video. You're a great speaker and a great teacher.
Thank you!
Great advice, wish I was back graduated from college🎉
If only I had seen this in my teens/20s! Out of curiosity is there usually an upper age limit?
I have a question you didn't answer Chase, how old is too old to start crewing, particularly for deckies and engineers?
Too old doesn’t exist! When I did my aec course there was a Canadian gentleman in the class who was 55 and decided he wanted a career change so he sold everything and was starting from the bottom. My captain on below deck, Glenn Shepherd started mush later too as a deckhand and look at him now!
@@ChasingGrace21 Thanks for responding, Chase. Capt. Glen was on the Ocean Cruisers Podcast a few months ago and he talked about his start in yachting. It was interesting hearing his take, especially since he stated later in life.
I listened to that podcast! Great story and proof it’s never too late
@chasinggrace21 this is what I came here to ask. I am a nurse and almost empty nester. I wish I would have known about the yachting world way sooner in life but am seriously wanting to sell everything and head to Ft Lauderdale to start taking classes!
Do tell! Excellent information. Congratulations on your journey. Best wishes.🎉
Thank you!!!
Hi, I'm interested in becoming a superyacht stewardess, but I've been having trouble finding funding for the course. Do you have any suggestions on how I can secure funding?
I can't swim is it okay? 😅
You should be in a classroom Chase LOL... Wonderful Yachting lesson honey!!!❤

Great video. One thing you didn’t cover, what age range is viable for these jobs? Can a mid 50’s or early retiree get these jobs? Thanks
Great tutorial!
Glad you think so!
Too bad i would have to take a major pay cut to start out. Im a truck driver and make over 125k a year.
Doesn’t sound like a bad thing to me! You’re living large!
Hi there, thank you for your video! I'm 39 yo women tho, am I too old for this work?
can a simple filipino boy like me who lives in the philippines with no prior yachting experience but have all the necessary trainings and certifications be hired directly to Europe? 😢 i wanna try the money you make every month is life changing for us 😅
Any progress?
Hey chase! Such an amazing informative video thank you so much for your help. I tried looking up the bluewater school in Fort Lauderdale but it says it’s temporarily closed, is that true?
Of course! I’d be shocked if they’re closed but I can also recommend pyt. (Professional yacht training) in ft. L
Thank you so much for your quick response! Seriously :) I am going to look into that training course now. Have you heard about MPT in Fort Lauderdale.. any thoughts? Your tips and wisdom mean a lot to me as I am about to make this decision into the yachting industry😊
@@jordanalayne9267 its a pleasure to help! MPT will definitely get you through and their facilities/pricing are almost the same. Good luck!
help me to apply sir
You’re going to have to send me some of these videos 😂
Lol done!
Whats your opinion on getting into the industry in your late 20’s?
Yesssss here for the wiener dog appearance
...but no boob luge.
Bahahahahahahahahaha
Fascinating. Sadly, still very limited opportunities for people of color and gays. Those are the facts.
I would disagree with that. The gays have always been strongly present in this industry- and likely will continue to be. I think for people of color that has improved too,,,but more warranted
I’m sad you feel this way and I can’t pretend to know what it’s like but from my experience there’s just not a lot of people from those demographics in the classrooms or walking the docks! I think more people just need to be educated about the industry and realize that it IS open to everyone! Sure there’s discriminatory old captains but screw them! Lots of charter guests are gay or of color and would love to see the same in the crew!
