This is rare footage taken about 70 years ago in St. John's Newfoundland before it became a province of Canada... Any information anyone can provide on these winter events would be appreciated... please comment and share...

Winter Horse races on QUIDI VIDI lake in ST.John's this is also the site where the Annual Regatta is Held the first Wednesday in August.

Newfoundland Canada? Back then Newfoundland was still its own dominion was it not? Still should be independent if you asked me. haha. Otherwise, great collection of footage from N.f. history. Thanks. :)

Thanks, you are correct... my oversight... Newfoundland was its own Dominion until 1949 when we joined Confederation with Canada...
