Please do not misinform. It is the traditional "tedeum" that is celebrated every September 18, on the occasion of the National Independence Day. Moreover, it is an ecumenical celebration since 1973, so there is no mass (although it is celebrated in the catholic cathedral).

@@agustinjosearenasbobenriet8327 You have a perverted idea about what a glorious past is. The years of Pinochet were years of pain, lack of human rights and persecutions. The UN and the Amnesty International documents prove my arguments.

@@smaragdastefani3338 I am Chilean and for me it was 17 years of order, progress and maturity. I understand that it is easy to fall into what the exiles have said about this president outside of Chile regarding human rights violations, however communist terrorism was also very strong in those years. Finally, Pinochet prepared the democratic institutionality that Chile has today and that excels in Latin America.

@@smaragdastefani3338 3227 dead with pinochet. 78 million died with Mao and 23 million with Stalin. Those who died with Pinochet were not saints, but criminals and murderers (of the military and civilians), kidnappers and terrorists.

@@agustinjosearenasbobenriet8327 How can you justify the atrocities? How can you justify the concentration camps and the torture centres such as Vila Grimaldi? How can you justify the fact that Pinochet overthrew a democratically elected government of Salvador Allende? It was an american - backed coup that led to Massacre. I come from Greece, the cradle of democracy. Unfortunatelly my country also went through a military dictatorship from 1967-1974 and thousands of people were tortured and sent in prison and exile Just because of their beliefs. I am enraged by the feeble excuses you are using to justify all this blood. A state of justice does not need tortures and persecutions to be stabilised. Pinochet's regime was not a state of justice. Those that were are arrested were not given what they were entitled to, and that is fair trials. To add to the above, I do not support any authoritatian regime but if you read History, if it hadn't been for the USSR, the whole world would be under the Nazis rule.
