  • I found a Christmas Dinner Menu in my grandmother's 1940's cookbook that inspired me to prepare an entire meal with dishes from that era. I did a lot of internet searching and learned some very interesting information about what people ate and what Christmas was like. So, in this video I want to share with you what I learned and the dishes I prepared. I had a wonderful time cooking this special Old Fashioned Christmas Dinner and I hope you will enjoy watching.

Cholesterol is NOT a problem to eat.. that has been completely changed by good research. So dont worry about it any more. ( On a personal note, fat is what gives the good taste, so dont be overly eager to remove too much of it, its not bad for you ....unless you eat pounds of it ofc..

Kristi, I watch all your current videos so now watching older ones. I love your Christmas (all holidays) traditions. I've cooked duck but never goose. After watching this video I'd love to cook a goose. At my home. I love how you bring tradition from your Family into your recipes. Mostly, I love how you insert Jesus our Lord and God our Master into your videos. Thank you for this blessed Christmas video. The labor of your hands is truly blessed.

I enjoyed the video as well! When I was a kid growing up in Michigan, we always decorated the tree on Christmas Eve! I had 4 siblings so all of us including our parents would decorate the tree together & sing Christmas carols. Afterwards, siblings & I would go down to the basement and have our "Christmas Club" meeting (only met once a year on Christmas Eve no parents allowed lol), followed by my father reading "The Night Before Christmas". To this day I have such wonderful memories of childhood Christmases.

ugh. the reason people back when did not put their tree up or decorate for Christmas until Christmas Eve was because people back knew and understood that the 12 days of Christmas STARTS 12/25 and goes through the Epiphany on 1/6....... the time before Christmas was ADVENT, a time of fasting and abstinence in preparation for Christmas........ Our modern, commercialized, materialistic post-Christian world has deleted Advent and now celebrates a Holiday Season from Thanksgiving through Christmas Day..... and throws out that old, dead tired tree and packs up the Holiday decor on 12/26, so that Christmas is now celebrated as the last day of the Holiday Season, rather than the first day of the Twelve days of Christmas. Sad.

I bought a goose for Christmas dinner only once, thought it’d make a nice change. Boy was I wrong, nicely cooked went to carve it and hit ‘bone’ , the look on my face as my daughter came in the kitchen, what’s wrong she said, there’s no breast meat I said , thought for a moment I had it upside down. It had to feed eight people, so my advice to you would be don’t buy goose if you want leftovers they’ll be none! Don’t take my word for it Delia Smith says that as well.
