This is a truly wonderful tour, I loved every minute walking through this authentic and charming Victorian village. It doesn't get much cozier than in your cottage with the soft lighting and the little tree. It's all quite lovely.
King's carols in the background completed the scenery perfectly ❤. The best choir singing a deliciously beautiful carol - The Holly and the Ivy and In the bleak mid-winter .Fantastic!

Shropshire is a beautiful county. My friends school is the one that is in Blists Hill museum.Each brick was numbered so that it could be reconstructed exactly. The Chemist shop was used in the programme The Victorian Pharmacy,with Ruth Goodman.

This is truly wonderful & reminds me of my Mother telling me & my Sisters about Christmas in the early 1920s deep in the countryside of Norfolk.When Xmas always had snow & life was very simple.How they made tree decorations out of pine cones & the tree was sparse,but soo effective in the glow of the fire.How they were soo thrilled to hve an orange in their stockings & a doll made from rags.How they sang Carols together & dressed in their finest clothes to go to Church on Christmas morning.Not exactly the Victorian era,but don't think things had moved on much from Victorian times then.What happened to us all . . . . ? 🤔 🌟

Absolutely love dated decs that hold some nostalgia. Remember the type of decorations that concertina open . They always reminded me of the flesh of tripe when I was a kid . But that wasn't to negate them . The decorations were lovely to me and still are now

We have something like this in the us. Its called colonial Williamsburg in Virginia. Its based on the 1700s people live and work there, showing what it was like there. I think all the houses are from that time period.

I love this & have subscribed. Please share with the actual opening song & by whom. Please & thank you. I never grew up with very traditional Christmas songs. I want to improve on this & enjoy these historical classics.
This would be my happy place always. I live in America, i have mostly English/ Welsh Ancestry on both sides, I know still makes me American, but I tend to lean more towards the European way of life and I study the Victorian time period, my home decorations are Victorian inspired or Victorian antiques, I also study Edwardian, the American time period during this, Civil War, Guilded Age, pretty much the 1300's to the 1930's, but the Victorian Era is my favorite. We have a few Villages like this, they are Colonial, up to Victorian, though they tend to lean more Colonial, but I love that time period as well, so I don't mind.
Ahhh so is this similar to Secret Garden? Like Dickon's cottage? I never read the book as a child just saw the movie and I think it's really adorable. I like the description of the flowers that grow in the outcroppings, the little ponies that run around on the moor and thr gardens here remind me of the little vegetable patch that he grows talk to his mom
The tree looks great. I use candle lights on my tree too and I think the fewer used the better it looks. I have two sets of 20 candles each, but only ever use one set. I love seeing the darker places on the tree. I always go for the cosy Christmas vibe provided it's not OTT, it's just a magical time of year
