Im from the Netherlands and would love to visit this town on a US+Canada roadtrip.
IamHeadShotNL it’s a nice place I am telling you
IamHeadShotNL I live here don’t come it’s asssssss
Was dit een opmerking in de hoop dat iemand je reis betaalt?😂
Yes, do come to visit it's a lovely town. Holland has lots of green areas & it's slow pace has kept me at peace for several years now.
Kev Pop lmao it’s not all that bad, however I do have to say most people here can be @$$holes on a daily basis
The big windmill also sells wheat flour and other things. Made right there. One of the best places, oh and you can rent cottages. Other side is all private where you rent.
Friends,, watch my traveling channel
I used to live there, thats where I was born. It breaks my heart to see all of the places I used to go when I was little. My dad was a prof. At the college and I miss it so much!
Come home then to Holland! That's what I did!
Why did you leave? It's time to return & take a break from a way too busy world. Welcome to HOLLAND 🌷
Yep. Relatives still there.
@@judeiz2203 nah dude if it’s anything like Pella it’s not worth it.
@@judeiz2203 hello how are you doing actually I need to come there but the problem is I dont know anyone there or what to do and where to go
Oh my... I am a Dutch man, and this is so weird!! But so nice to see that our small country is being honoured by a real town and a small theme park. Greetings from The Netherlands
Most of the residents are actually Dutch! I have two children with a man from Holland Michigan and he is full Dutch! All the streets and major businesses have Dutch names too. When I first moved here I lived nearest street that I couldn’t pronounce the name of. Graafschap. 😀 When I moved here I thought it was named Holland in homage of the Netherlands, but I was wrong! It’s named Holland because all of the original settlers of Holland Michigan are from Holland. Most of our streets have the word ‘Van’ in the name. If you look at a street map of Holland you will see what I mean alot the street names and businesses.
@@ariavril5434 that is so funny. A Dutch man from Michigan Holland. You would think only the first generation would have been Dutch. I will look up the town on maps.. you made me curious about the street names.
@@dennisagema yes I felt the same way when I moved her a decade ago! 😄 After a few weeks here I quickly realized it isn’t just a namesake! They take it very serious all the way down to the wooden shoes and the tulips! Tulip Time is a major celebration here! In may it goes on a little over a week and we get millions of tourists for the event. They plant tulips all over the historic downtown neighborhood and have trolley tours where you ride around the city in a trolley car and look at the tulips. They even have strict laws about the tulips. It’s thousands of dollars in fines if you damage one of the tulips. It’s more than just a name! 😁The school children get out of school half days for three of the days during tulip time. My son has danced in the tulip town parades. They wear traditional Dutch outfits and wooden clogs when they dance. Not to mention the fact that most of the founding families and all of their offspring; children and grandchildren and great grandchildren, they’ve all remained in this region. The roots and the foundation of this city is 100% completely Dutch! 😄
@@dennisagema everything here also has a symbol of windmills or tulips on it like street signs or newspapers and shops, schools, products produced here, restaurants… and we have ‘Van’ in most street names, business names, residents, etc! 😄
@@ariavril5434 haha, it is both lovely and weird that this all is going on there. I think Holland Michigan is more Dutch than the Netherlands itself. Here only a few on the countryside wear wooden clogs. Tulips are still known as very Dutch, especially in Amsterdam, De Keukenhof and other tourist places. But aswell in Dutch homes in spring. Originally Tulips are from Turkey, but I think the Dutch made them great😉
I’ve been to Holland, Michigan many times when I was a kid. My dad has family all over Michigan so it was easy for us to take a trip over to Holland. I remember the beautiful windmills and colorful tulips. We watched a candle-maker make beautiful candles and a woodcarver make clogs. They weren’t the most comfortable shoes, but they were pretty warm and durable. We have taken many pictures while we were there. I haven’t been back in so long that it feels like a dream land rather than a real town. Maybe someday, I’ll go back there again.
Cool. As a Dutch guy I would like to go to haha.
Wow. It’s like Utrecht and Volendam put together. Groetjes allemaal van New Jersey!
Looks like an amazing place and an accurate representation of the real Dutch countryside, they even have their own Dutch themed beach as it reminds me of Zandvoort.
Dit staat op mijn to-do lijst! 👍
Outstanding job Peter. You seriously should send this to State and Holland for tourism.
I was last there in 1961. Lived briefly in Montague and Muskegon, on White Lake.
I find it unbelievable that this beautiful video has a few dislikes 😣
My all time favorite place to chief at. So many magical spots.
I grew up here, but it’s been twelve years since I moved 😭 really brings back memories
You're lucky! It's such a cool town, Ethan!!
@@petervonpanda true! ;)
De Vries a Dutch name awesome i'm Dutch myself and still live here in the Netherlands you must be of Dutch descent awesome correct me if i'm wrong?
I have a question for you have you ever been here in the real Netherlands?
Holland Michigan/the Netherlands wich is the correct name btw no offence is awesome and does look a lot like my country the Netherlands.
Other than that greetings from the Netherlands🇳🇱
that shot at 1:48 looks exactly like a landscape back in Holland (the one on the other side of the ocean) as you'd find them there
I wish I could go to Holland, Tymo! I would love to visit!
Haha how funny! Definately going there some day.
Greetings from Rotterdam (South-Holland)
It’s a cool place to visit!
@@petervonpanda most definitely! We moved here approximately 7 years ago and we love it. ❤️
To anybody claiming that Holland, MI and/or Nelis’ Dutch Village is not an accurate representation of the current-day Netherlands: You’re right. Our city and our Dutch Village are both themed after OLD Dutch country. We have a large Dutch population here, due to Dutch immigration to Michigan’s west coast during the 1840’s. A few of the towns in Western MI are named after Dutch locations (Zeeland, Drenthe, etc.)
I love my hometown and I also worked at Dutch Village. We do everything we can to give an accurate representation of what the Netherlands’ farm country used to look like. So don’t say it’s ‘hilarious’ or it isn’t accurate. This is an old-timey place and it’s not supposed to represent modern-day Dutch culture.
Check out huis ten bosch in japan. There they go to the extreme to replicate in extreme details.
Grace HC Nellis(Nelis) village looks fine and its a look alike like places near Amsterdam like Zaandan en Volendam. Do have there also influence of the Netherlands like language or words or streets or areas like in New York?
Nellis looks beautiful - Nellis ziet er mooi uit ☺️
I am Dutch and I think it looks nice and fun. The canal, bridge and mill really looks its in the Netherlands
Still you people don't know shit about The Netherlands
And you people don't know shit about US Dutch, they were fearless settlers in hopes of building a culture in a foreign land. They were the main engineers creating NYC and unfortunately many were in the Slave industry as well. The US English dialect adapted many Dutch words, changed them around a bit, but they are there like "Dollar". Modern US Dutch Adults are generally Conservative, especially the settled down ones. They are complete opposite of the typical Libtard Netherlander. They parted ways from that culture in the 16th and 17th century and even many that lived here prior spoke Middle Dutch and passed that down from thier grandparents. They are Dutch that were explorers/warriors/patriots and share nothing in common with Netherlander or Belgium Duch other than much of the language and a love for windmills. They were stronger more fierce and would need let France or the UK rule over them, not for long anyways. European Dutch have always been the pussified Duch that couldn't have thier own independence until centuries after these warriors could. European Dutch are nothing but a fucking joke, especially that fucking country that should be named "Nederland-Or-Moslim". Rot op! Ji stomme zwakke fuckwad liberaal kut!
Dank je wel voor deze vidio groetjes uit Holland
Happy you enjoyed your stayed
Loved it!
@@petervonpanda it's been awhile now, time for a return visit. Beautiful & realistic video, thank you so much. 🌷
The owner of the house on the beach is the railroad guy. He has another house in town.
Have you ever eaten at Curragh's Irish pub in Holland, Mi? That is my wife and my favorite date nite place of all time.
this is an amaizing video... big ups!
The property on the south side of the channel belongs to the Van Andels (the other half of the Amway founders). That property has belong to that family for decades. The DeVos have a bigger property and house off south shore drive closer to Holland sitting on the shores of Lake Macatawa.
A town inspired by the Netherlands is awesome and handy when Im there and Im homesick.

Wow this video is very well done! I’m very proud to call holland my home :) great job with this video
the one bad thing about Holland is the Tulip Time traffic. Tulip Time is next week and its getting busy downtown. I work at Kilwins downtown and we are always packed.
Beautiful!
Thank you, Sally! It's worth a visit!
I love the Netherlands, curious about the atmosphere in the Netherlands

yes, inside the windmill.
Great video man.
Hard to find ones for Holland.
Soooo jealous. Looks like a nice place

I love in Holland Michigan
I lived there for almost 10 yrs.
16 th to 19 th old fashioned village/city! Just a museum for tourists
One little wrong spelling on the board om 4:30:
"Spreekt u Hollands" has to be "Spreekt u Nederlands?". That translation is the same: "Do you speak Dutch?" :).
I love this anyways as well the big lake and the beach and some stores with a Dutch name like "DeBoer bakkerij" (For Americans litterally translated as 'The farmer bakery'). De Boer is a common last name in The Netherlands, but not all of them are farmers :).
It's wonderful and not knowing about this place until a couple of years ago.
Love from The Netherlands.
I live here. It is a slow pace small town. It is always fun to visit places that is different from where you live. Just stay away from tourist traps!
Hi! What places would you say are the tourist traps? Thinking of going next week!
@@Vynessa48 As a local, we do not go to Windmill Island nor Tulip farm. Just depends on how you want to spend your money. Would recommend a candle factory inside the Dutch Village. It's a shame you have missed the prime of Tulip season. There are only Tulip stems now. :-(

The 6,000,000.00 cottage
belongs to Betsy DeVos and her family. Yes, the Sec. Of Education in 2018.
They are also owners of Amway Corp. They have another mansion in Grand Rapids, Mi.
I enjoyed watching your video. Holland is my favorite Michigan City.
The house belongs the Van Andels. The Devos property is closer to Holland off South Shore Drive.
Why are Dutch people such name droppers?
The same Betsy DeVos who has decimated our public schools and wants to delete the idea of no separation of church and state in the constitution.
Is so beautiful, do you know how I can go there without car? I'm in Chicago at the loop area
Very interesting place. Hello from the real Holland 🇳🇱, Amsterdam ❌❌❌
They try to be more Dutch then us here in Holland Europe. Like going to Vegas to see the Eifeltower and the piramides.
🤣😂🤣
I live in Holland Michigan!
Very nice country
In Holland every year starting late March going through June you hear all of these stories of teenagers jumping off the pier and dying of hypothermia
Ha there is good things that happen here too! You ever hear of tuliptime, they have beautiful tulips the 1st and second week of may! Cheak out tuliptime on line and come visit. Every town has it's good and bad but in Holland there is more good then bad.
I know I lived there for 12 years and I love it. I have marched in 11 parades around tulip time.
Eliza rest in peace.
Holland in Michigan
wat moet ik nu opzoeken op het internet voor jullie?
LFG
i know this place bc of family and downtown here is the most safe here trust me
I lived in Holland on Tulip Lane and every spring when the moon was low, a band of Dutch Munchkins would come out after midnight and plant the 2 1/2 million plastic tulips around the city and be done by sun-up. Everyone would rise to the variegated colors of plastic tulips, white, red, blue, purple, yellow, and then when the Tulip festival was over, the Dutch Munchkins would return after midnight when the moon was low and pick them all and return them to storage at Holland city garage. The next morning we'd awake to a town in which the Tulips had died and disappeared over-night. Do you think I'm kidding? That's why it's a $500 fine to pick one. Then someone would notice they're made out of plastic. lol
Plastic tulips, well, seems the environment awareness is much more progressed in the real Holland ( Netherlands)
@Toby Blake that is 100% a lie. They plant real tulips. I'm not sure who you got this information from but there are no "plastic" tulips planted for the city of Holland. They are REAL tulips. At the end of the tulip season, they dig out the bulbs and sell them to people who want to grow their own tulip gardens. They don't want you picking them because if everyone picked them there would be no tulips left to see, and therefore there would be no tulip time. There has NEVER been plastic tulips planted.
So if I live in Holland in The Netherlands it's free? I'm coming!
I lived there as a kid back in the mid-'60s to early '70s and it was nice but now-days it looks as if a lot of money has gone into the place resulting with far, far more very nice eateries and microbreweries. When I was living there the place maybe had a dozen not-so-great restaurants and even fewer places to get a cold one.
Are you main lander?
I am in Egypt right now and I love to come and live in Holland MI but I think to come alone its need help
New York was founded by us Dutch too,...it was called New Amsterdam back then.

Holland, Michigan looks cleaner and better then the real Holland in The Netherlands. This is how it was 50 years ago. The country is now overwhelmed with immigrants and the Islam. The country is doomed. I think I move to Michigan. It will feel as a relieve. Btw. Great video!
Lost Dutchman You're lost.
We actually have a very diverse community here. Muslims, Asians, lots and lots of Mexicans too. I personally love the diversity. Holland is a melting pot of cultures and people.
The Netherlands is multicultural for like 500 years, get your facts straight
The Rekt Factory but from where were the immigrants of that time?
Depends where you are but where i live i barely see any immigrants. And if you see lots older immigrants. They are part of our history. (for example, Indonesian people, certain turkish and marrocan people.. the government got them here) We must embrace what happened in the past. Change racism. Seems Americans can't get rid of racism so much. It doesn't matter if it's Christian's or Muslim's both are religions and religions in general should be a thing of the past because science proved already enough that the current Gods are not the ones who could made this world. If there is a God he hasn't presented himself ever in the time of humans being on this earth.
I grew up in Holland. Sadly it's not as good as it use to be.
